Here are 17 other subtle differences between the remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Nintendo Switch and the original version for Game Boy Advance. This is part four of the series; here are the previous episodes:
Part 1: • 14 Subtle Differences ...
Part 2: • 15 Subtle Differences ...
Part 3: • 12 Subtle Differences ... - เกม
Playing the new one was great but I miss “Hey, come back here! You big-a monkey!”
*you speaking monkey
0:33 Funnily enough, the music there is actually part of the true final boss theme.
4:17 didn't expect! In 99% of cases with Nintendo remakes changes either make the game slightly easier or don't change the difficulty. It's very rare for them to actually make something slightly harder (not counting removal of glitches like BLJ in newer Mario 64's).
Interesting how a lot of the changes definitely add more of a "modern" Nintendo polish and charm, but also remove some of the things that made the game feel unique amongst other Mario stuff
0:10 Not many people know this, but the spanish audio is, if I recall correctly, from the Mexican movie "Amores Perros" which isn't a kid-friendly movie and very likely the reason it was removed.
Been looking for this info. Got a reason to watch that movie.
or maybe its because they no longer had the rights to use the audio
0:22 As a Spanish, i always thought that the tv was saying something in that language 😬
An interesting thing is that if you try to retry a level with 1 life left in the GBA version, it won't stop you from retrying and you will get a free trip to the game over screen.
Yeah, that was definitely annoying....
Another difference: in the original when the key was not in your hands you had 12 seconds to get it back.
In the remake it adds an extra 3 seconds, making it easier to get the key back.
Thanks for the Video
Good video man 😊
2nd attempt at commenting on this detail:
An observed difference occurs when Mario goes through the door. In the GBA version, Mario enters the door while holding the key, while in the Switch version, the key disappears before Mario proceeds through the door.
your comment section has been pretty toxic.
did you see that chrank guy from parts 1 and 2? Just yelling at everyone in a mean, immature way?
Please do some moderating, don't let people be so toxic to each other.
That guys been everywhere lmao, beware chrange9714
@@lucaswatts2141I subscribed to your TH-cam channel
Ooh, yeah, that person was definitely not pleasant in a response to one of my comments in the first part.
@@yordansic i made it a point to reply to him in every video i saw him in, it's really funny how he'll just say stuff that's not true then call other people liars. In one of the posts someone mentioned how previous remakes of games will remake every old track, and add new ones, and in response to that to cite games that didn't, he pointed to freaking metroid zero mission and pokemon hgss. Now, i could be wrong aboutt pokemon, but i've played the metroid series my entire life and there aint a single track that didn't get remade in the remake
That guy is a pretty well known troll, not just on these videos, I'm pretty sure he also abuses the report function. I told him to "passionately hug himself" [sic] and TH-cam still deleted the post, even though I kowtowed to their ridiculous standards of censorship. Even the most tame posts of me simply pointing out the reasons he was wrong, and all the things that would need to happen for him to be proven right, have been deleted.
I love the music of mystic Forest GBA ❤
The more I watch these videos, the more I realize how many small and big things they changed to make the game significantly easier, and it annoys me.
Can yiu make more of these pls?
there are now warp boxes in the switch version
0:46 wow
The only complaint I have is the music, everything else is fine with me.
Yeah, I prefer the original
I love the original but I think the remake is a huge improvement, aside from some nerfed stuff
Oooh okay
Ya nerd to combine all of these into one video.
6:45 WHAT THE FLIP AMONGUS......... /j
Really miss the cero, tres, ochenta y ocho

Why this remake is getting so much hate😢 is like it

Man I do NOT get the excessive amount of hate that most of these comments hold for the remake. I’ll admit that I never played the original so my first experience is with this new one, but to me it seems definitively superior in just about every regard.
Sure, I get people have nostalgia and there’s a certain charm to the crunchy, modest aesthetics of the GBA title. But at least for me, the addition of multiplayer, new worlds, a truly beautiful and sleek visual presentation, and still a lot of the original charm make the 2024 remake way better.
idk, would love to hear some meaningful positions in favor of the GBA one cause so far most of the critiques I’ve read are just: “less personality,” or “old is better.”
Exactly this was my first time with it too and I'd rather play this over the original any day like better visuals, smoother, tons of QOL updates the remake is just better 👌
Funny, as MvsDK was a big part of my second visit in the US. That visit began shaping me who I am today. Sure, I’ll miss some of the more American charm the original had, but I happy for the remake nonetheless, specially since I’m now LIVING in the US
@@burra007 haha welcome!! Hope the country has been good for you. And I agree that it’s fun to see other countries takes on Mario
@@burra007funny considering that the remake was made by the same company who made the original game themselves.
“Less personality” is a valid critique, though.
I rate the switch game a -10/10 because the lack of DOS CERO TRES OCHENTA Y OCHO.
For real, this was a BIG disappointment for me.
I hate the remake it didnt fix the problems with the original game, made terrible changes, ripped the soul out of the game and the music and sound effects are so bad.
Heyo
First(I Think)
I didn't buy that.
I'm the only one who dont buy the new one Just emulate the GBA one?
I haven't played either, but this remake seems to have a lot of quality of life changes! I can easily see myself getting really frustrated with the BS deaths of the original
I'm sticking with the original. Sure the new one has some qol changes, but there's so many other things making me ask "why would they do that?"
wow so edgy and cool, bet you get all the females
Ngl even though they have differences I still don't think it's worth a full $50
@valeriopasqualini6679 As if you're talk of the town for prefering a more casual version.
Luckily I got the original on 3DS and WiiU so I can play both anytime for a different experience.
