The springs don’t just push up into the can. The can has hooks that they go into as you push them up. Keeps the lights in place

You are correct, though they aren't necessarily needed. If your old housing doesn't have the brackets, you can buy and install the brackets but I wouldn't bother.

I have the same metal ring sticking out from the existing can (seen at 6:20 in your video), and for some lights it's just barely larger than the new lights. Any suggestions on how to hide that ring without opting for a larger light? Did you eventually just get the light perfectly centered?
Also, have you had any issues with flickering?
    Thank you!

I got them all perfectly centered so I don't see anything sticking out. There is actually a very small shadow cast by each light as it gets over the trim. It would do a decent job hiding it assuming your lights aren't spaced too close together. Other than that, I might just paint white over anything that shows and would do ok.
Absolutely no flickering with these lights! I've had flickering issues with other LED brands (GE, Cree, and a couple others), but I've used these Halo lights on 4 projects now and am very happy with them.

@@realhouseDIY Thanks for the quick reply! I like the lights but might need to find a different option that is just a hair longer.
