I remember in a world cup a match between New Zealand and France where Jonah Lomu got the ball and went to the try line with four of five french players hanging on him. Truly, a beast of a man and a very kind and humble giant. RIP Big Jonah.😭
All of this is true. He scored 2 tries. But we won that game in 1999 🇫🇷after an unbelievable comeback 😀
@@ericsicard910 If anyone had told me he could do that, I would have said it was impossible. Having so many players hanging on him, running to the line at full speed and score, it's something that one has to see for himself to believe. For me it was probably the best match I have ever seen.
@@paulocarvalho6480 yes that game was unbelievable, from both sides and of course from Jonah.
Lomu 6ft 5, 260lbs, 100M 10,80. Unstoppable
Jonah was magnificent going forward, however if you chipped the ball over his head he took a while to turn
@@tonic8945In fairness, twisting too fast with balls of steel could be damaging.. 😉
Too true
Lomu , One of if not the best player ever. So stressful to see him passing away so young he had so much more to show for, what an athlete!
Jonah Lomu was both feared and respected by opponents and much-loved by rugby supporters, of all nationalities. Jonah was a true one-off. The GOAT!
Sebastian Chabel ....nickname "The Caveman"
Gentle giant off the pitch
My favorite Rugby player is Faf DeKlerk. He's on the small side but the kid is an absolute BEAST of a player.
A true Giant Killer !!! I couldnt agree more, my Fav orite as well. 🤘❤️
He's annoyingly the smiliest 😅
@@JacquelineFox-xo6jnhis antics when the ball isn't in play are always funny... He always has to flick his hair it must be on a contract somewhere 😂😂
My uncle played for the Swedish rugby team (back in late 60 early 70). He always was proud of that. Watched plenty of games. And it WAS this brutal. Remembering that after every game he was bruised all over, and could hardly move. When asked why do you do this? ''It's Fun''. Some people are not as everybody else. 🙂 I love my uncle. Thank you Christer. I've learned a lot from you.
As his playing career wound down, Jonah Lomu became an advocate for health charities such as Kidney Kids. Died at age of 40, Here are his funeral and tribute Haka's (several, but only 8+ minutes)
"TRIBUTE HAKAZ FOR JONAH LOMU" th-cam.com/video/ovd3v0CPXJA/w-d-xo.html
Rugby is my favorite game to watch. Hockey is a very close second, but this game is as primal as it gets.
Grass or ice?
Recently one of the greatest ever Welsh players sadly died. A surgeon by day he was as hard as nails and a pure gentleman. Check him out. His name is JPR Williams.
Size matters in this sport,.... Unless you're Faf Deklerk 😂, check him out. 5'7" giantkiller. He's got that Honey Badger attitude. Fearless 😂 🤘❤️
Went to a test match in Durban and was sitting very close to the field ,low down when I saw Jonah streaking towards me with just Percy Montgomery ,the fullback to beat to score. Montgomery launched himself full tilt at Lomu who stumbled and passed it to Josh Kroveldt to,score..That Montgomery tackle was the bravest thing I have ever seen close up. Lomu looked like a colossus up close. had Montgomery mistimed that tackle he could have been seriously hurt.
Bakkies Botha is pretty well respected in the rugby community. Back when he played, the rules were a lot more lenient and you could get away with a lot more than you can today, so naturally he teeter tottered on the line of legal and illegal a LOT. He was our enforcer back then after all.
The team in black is NewZealand, the team in Green is South Africa , the team in white is England , The team in Blue is France and the team in yellow is Australia
Please do more rugby videos🤩 South Africa is currently the best in the world and has won the most World Cups over any other team💪🏼
Watch some video of Faf de Klerk, a South African player. He's 5' 7" tall !!!!
💯 , a true Giantkiller !!!! 🤘❤️
Good reaction and analysis guys. Some tidbits to share with you as a person whose played both rugby and NA football: in football the positions are more specialized with a specific set of skills that may or may not translate into other positions. Therefore you may get athletes who are the absolute greatest athletes utilizing their specialist skill sets. ie. wide receivers and defensive backs can often have world class speed because speed differentiates their value from others, but they may not necessarily be the stockiest guys (not that some of them aren't hugely muscled) but size isn't valued in that position, whereas on the offensive line you may have 300lb to 400lb behemoths who are extremely quick over 5 to 10 yards but obviously not conditioned to run 6 or 7 kms over 80 minutes nor sprint a 4.5 second 40 yard dash.
So in football players can be physical freaks for their specialized positions. In rugby speed is very highly valued but if a guy is afraid of his own shadow and won't tackle or take a tackle, which many people are, he's not of much value to a team. And as you touched on in your reaction rugby players need to play both ways, and they need to have speed, power and endurance, but in many respects they have to have the whole package including ball handling and passing skills. If you can't handle the ball it doesn't matter how fast, big, or fit you are you're not helping the team.
So if you had a competition and pit the fastest NFL players against the fastest international rugby players, its highly likely the NFL players will edge that out in a competition...not that there aren't extremely fast rugby players...but the positions aren't necessarily as specialized. Also the NFL lineman will outperform generally the rugby guys in the weight room competition. But if you sent everybody out on a fast paced 5 mile run FIRST and then had these competitions after the results might flip themselves!
And if you had a skills competition utilizing ball handling and person to person passing tasks the majority of rugby players will at least execute, overall, most drills with a certain level of good competency while the NFL players will have a small group of specialists that can catch a throw ball thrown at them at an outstanding level, but most couldn't deliver any kind of a pass (during play, whether forward, or a lateral sideways/backward) in a rudimentary fashion other than quarterbacks. Only half the players are defensively minded, etc.
The overall point...NFL football players will likey have the freakiest, extreme, most athletically gifted sprinters, or strongmen, etc. International rugby players will have their own kind of freaks like huge 6'8" players who can run all day but hey won't be 300lbs to 400lbs...they'll be 250lbs to 300lbs (also because a dude can't continously run 6 miles a game or in training day in and day out and not lose that extra 100lbs.) and they'll be more all-around skilled and gifted as a whole.
I'd say Rugby forwards and some backline players are more akin to heavyweight boxers.Theres a certain weight that's optimal but beyond that it's a drag on performance. I'm not sure how much steroid taking there is in rugby and or NFL..
@@relevantbrother8964oh, there's definitely performance enhancement drugs being used in both sports. 1000%.
Andrew Porter of Ireland can squat 350 kg's he is also some player. The best player i have ever seen was the great late Jonah Lomu
Sebastian Chabal is around 6.3 and Eben is 6.8. 😊
I thought Chabal was 6'5"?
@@bloodhoundgang1642 officially 1.91m (so not quite 6'3") and 113Kgs
A game of Football lasts 12 minutes. An average play lasts 4-6 seconds. Then a 30 second rest. Each player only plays for about 6 minutes in a game. Football is high intensity, full bore. Everything you have on every play. Lots of pain and injuries in that 12 minutes. Rugby is a marathon of continuous running and impact. A hybrid is Hockey. Huge cardio added to high speed impact. 45-60 second shifts, all out, with a 2-3 minute recovery period. Rugby is simply the cardio/tough as nails, hardest game to participate in. Rugby players eat their dead.
As hard as it is to say for an English man jonah lomu prolly the greatest
Please, do part two. And also you might find the officiating culture (half of which is the general good respect towards everyone by the players) of rugby interesting as well. A retired Welsh referee Nigel Owens is worth checking out. TH-cam is full of "The best of" videos about him.
U guys should do some of New Zealands Jonah Lomu vids he was unreal , maybe the best ever. 👍👍
Bakkies Botha was the enforcer
I haven’t watched this yet, but if Lomu isn’t on here it null
NZ All Black Sir Wayne "buck" Shelford will always be a rugby football legend because of his 80s game against France, 10mins into the game he went into a aggresive maul losing 3 teeth and having a French boot tore his scrotum open, leaving one testicle exposed he went to the sideline to have it stitched up so he could continue playing
Best and most fair sports in the world. .. There is so much respect for the referee and other team. You won't find it in another sport.
I've played a bit rugby in my teens but being a smaller kid, despite being stocky, I would get a very good motivation to run faster with the ball... when you're 13 yo and 140lbs and you got behemoths of 250lbs coming your way, you run like hell! That said, my parents eventually removed me from the club after I had a concussion on a bicycle accident and I just think they were looking for an excuse to get me out. And looking back, they were right to do so.
Chabal aka The Caveman played for France, Jonah Lomu played for the New Zealand All blacks, Bakkies Botha South Africa, Tuisova plays for Fuji , Elis Genge England, Henry , Henry Tuilagi Tonga
Rugby is THE Game
That's the part that's easy to forget and nice to hear from a 'Football' fan - these guys have the fundamentals down from the years of exclusively playing without pads. A bad tackle can hurt and impair the tackler for days, weeks or months.. Growing up it's entirely different when you're 8 years old and making tackles with next to no muscle to cushion the impact Vs if we started as teens or later and had the muscle to "allow" worse form. As a scrawny little kid, good form [alone] let me make tackles that would hurt me more than the guy I was tackling, if the form was poor. And did for many months while it was.. 'Good form preserves both parties for another day.' - though the same coach also said 'Start them while their bones and heads are soft' lol. It becomes lessons in balance, wrestling, physics and body mechanics that we don't really notice as such, at the time. Still amazes me though, these guys aren't trucking some guy off the street, a 40-something that played in highschool or even a college athlete - they're trucking through career pros that train to do this for 80 minutes every week and in many cases, represent their country..
Re: The names. Since it is a game played all over the world, the names will reflect that. Eben Ebetza and Bakkies Botha are South Africans of Dutch descent, so their names are Dutch. Gorgodze is Georgian (the country not the state). Jonah Lomu is of Tongan descent. Polynesians love Rugby so you will often find Polynesian players.
Rugby players are strong as hell🥶
You should really check out videos featuring the lateJonah Lomu, the former New Zealand international rugby player of Tongan descent. Jonah was an absolute man mountain and one of the most respected and beloved players in world rugby. Jonah left us too soon in 2015 (aged 40), falling victing to a serious illness and his death caused great grief the world over where his exploits as a New Zealand All Black produced awe and wonder among all who saw him. Jonah was virtually unstoppable, with big men bouncing off him or hanging onto him and still unable to stop him taking the ball across the line. I'd also recommend you view a video from his funeral in New Zealand which clearly shows the magnitude of his loss to the rugby mad people of New Zealand.
Do most feared rugby team next ❤❤
Check out Nigel Owens one the best and most respected referees. Not very tall but can handle these big fellas.
I have observed (after about 30 reactions videos!) with Rugby unlike American Football, with the absence of specialty teams such as offense line and defensive line. Every Rugby player has to do both and since the game actually never stops (even when the ball touches the ground-like American football), the rugby players have to be big and agile or the team needs to have a blend of bigger bulldozer guys or smaller faster guys. Everyone is moving, always, all the time except for when it goes out of bounds or some sort of foul.-then you get the scrum
Yeah Bakkies Botha is South African.......Jonah Lomu as mentioned below is from here...New Zealand.....unfortunately he died awhile back.
Both made impacts but are polar opposite in play. Botha was a thug and enjoyed the brutal side of the game - Bully and cheap shot merchant that was more of a liability than the cult hero everyone makes out that he was….whereas Lomu played game within rules and as a sportsman. This is reason Lomu is respected worldwide as a true GOAT and legend for all
These two names should never be in same sentence.
Jonah was born in New Zealand with Tongan descent fyi
You could pick any one of about 4 or 5 Tuilagis for this list.. Dunno what Momma Tuilagi feeds them...
Lomu's wife was South African 🇿🇦
@@stu1944 irrelevant comment
@@HeeniKeke Jonah was never close to the player Bakkies is. You say he is a bully and take cheap shot why does he have ZERO red cards on his record. looking at the stats which you failed to do NZ gets by far the most red and year card.
Let's count 1 Vodacom Cup title, 3 Currie Cup titles, 3 Super Rugby titles, a World Cup trophy, 2 Tri-Nations titles, a British and Irish Lions trophy, a French Top 14 league title and 2 Heineken Cup titles. No one comes close to bakkies.
Rugby is not for you go watch chess.
You’s two should react to Fiji rugby one of the best teams in rugby world please
Eben etzebeth and bakkied Botha are south African rugby legends.
Anyone who playes profile rugby you dont want to mess with 🏴
To understand the spirit of rugby you must check out Nigel Owens the grand master referee
Good People!
Lomu G.O.A.T
Most of them are between 6ft 5 and 6ft 8...Big boys
The MOST Feared Rugby Player was Brian Lima, also known as "the Chiropractic", he was quite average in size for a rugby, 6ft 2in and 240 lbs. BUT the guy was a KAMIKAZE, it was "Kill or be Killed" in EVERY SINGLE TACKLE.
Whenever I watch rugby I always feel sad it never took off in Canada. The size of some of the Canadians and their reputation for toughness, they would have been every bit as good as SA or NZ,
That 1991 Rugby World Cup,Canada has some very respectable moments. There's was one where they scored a try against the All Blacks..this huge hulking Canadian forward breaking through close in goal line defense of the All Blacks.. Extemely physical play.
Many head-related clashes that are shown in some of the older clips in videos are now strictly verboten and will get players sent off on the spot with quite long suspensions. The game has been cleaned up a lot as a result of ongoing concussion issues. Some fans think it has gone too far. I don't. 🙂
Sébastian Chabal 6' 3. 250lbs.
The black player Jonho Lomo played fr the All Blacks he died a few years later got sick with something it was so sad he was becoming one of best players ever
Jonah lomu is from New Zealand but of Tongan ancestry
👍🏻
Best reaction ever
He was Samoan
Check out ... "Jonah Lomu Lord Of The Wings"
Jonah lomu's my cousin
Fun Fact : NFL derived from rugby
They are not all fat. The caveman, Sébastien Chabal at the start of the video, measures 1.91 meters and weighs 113kg.
The all Black's are new Zealand and the springboks are south Africa a lot of the biggest south sea islanders are from Samoa the big hairy french monster is known as the caveman
Can I please check out the music
The top countries for Rugby Union are South Africa, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Australia, New Zealand then after them are Fiji, Japan, Italy, Argentina, etc etc. One of the worst and easiest to beat are USA. The Top countries for Rugby League are Australia, England, New Zealand, Somoa, Tonga they are the top 5 in the world. 🏉🏉💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🇮🇪🇮🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦
Don't insult tier 2 rugby countries like the US as "the worst and easiest" to beat like that just because they aren't top tier teams. There are certainly many other tier 3 countries that rank below the US with the US having managed some varied success against many of the tier 2 counterparts. The US has had a number of wins in its history against Samoa, Japan, Fiji and Tonga. They've managed a win against France and Scotland and have managed to put a scare against other top tier teams a few times. They've been ranked as high as #13 in the world. Also their Sevens has been very good over the past 10 years and has been ranked as high as #4 over a season. And since 2016 the US has a domestic professional rugby league and that can only help them catch up over the long run as the sport continues to grow.
@@RobRochon the truth always hurts. Get over it plus it's facts that South Africa, Ireland, England, France, Wales, Australia, New Zealand and Scotland are the top Rugby Union countries on the planet. FACT. 🏉🏉🏴🏴🇮🇪🇮🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦
@@adrianhughes8143 apparently you have a reading comprehension problem. First off why would I think anything you have said hurts? Secondly I don't recall suggesting that any of the nations you just listed weren't top unioin countries. Clearly they are. Third your reply here didn't even address my comment. If you're going to troll someone try to use a little intelligence and wit next time, never mind actually staying on topic.
All countries the british had been
Peter Whiting All Black that knocked tough guys like Kevin Deklerc out. Deklerc was 6'10". Whiting was 6'6". Deklerc punched Whiting from behind. Whiting turned around and punch Deklerc who immediately fell into a deep sleep.
Pas besoin de protection comme au football américain !!
jonah lomu is the goat of rugby
I've got a fantastic highlight reel for y'all,
The most feared rugby team in the world, the Springboks are brutal breasts.
I hope y'all enjoy it🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Most of them are over 6ft
I am afraid one response said South Africa is the best team in the world they were a few years ago, you will find Ireland is now the best team in the world, no axe to grind as I am Welsh lol
These massive men play for 80 minutes , American football they need oxygen , some of these are 6’ 9 and probably bigger necks like tree trunks and legs to match and very fit
Here's another soft rock, harmony band to give a listen, if interested. "America - Tin Man (W/Lyrics)" (channel: Scotty Ardent) --This trio is known for their tight harmonies and light acoustic folk-rock sound. The band is an American rock band formed in London in 1970. The trio first met as sons of US Air Force personnel, stationed in London, where they began performing live, and achieved significant popularity in the 1970's. The band consisted of Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek and Gerry Beckley, (who were the founding members) and later came Richard Campbell, Ryland Steen and Steve Fekete. As always, I enjoyed rocking with you both, thanks for sharing. peace out~
Bakkies is a dirty as player
Women play rugby as well. The US women are ranked much higher than the men, currently no9 and they have won the world cup, back in 1991.
Here's highlights of their match against England's Red Roses from 2022. Might be worth a reaction.
th-cam.com/video/LYOPLZXMFxM/w-d-xo.html
OK, the accents, a lot of south African, New Zealand, Australian. The guy with the long black hair and Beard Sebastien Chabal, French 6 foot 3" ds, as you see, either side of him guys even bigger. The film you show exaggerates the size, nearly all players shown are from the pack. The pack is the bulldozer of the team pure power. Rugby players are not all big. I am 56foot11, I played Wing forward, on the edge of the pack, I gave a bit of push but my main purpose was aggressive defense of anyone trying to run round the scrum with ball. There are other positions that do not need size. Hooker, scrum half, winger. Take for example Gareth Edwards, in his day perhaps the greatest player in the world, 6 foot 7inch. You look ate De Klerk, scrum half for the current South African world champions, 5 foot 7 inch. Now normally you face the big guys of the pack against your pack, that is what you mostly saw. On the wings the players are pure acceleration and speed, no height and weight. When things get mixed up things get hard. I had to take down a man with the ball twice my weight who wanted to run through me. I took him down, but was carried off the field on a streatcher. We don't wear armour
CAN AMERICA PLAY THIS?
Yes
Its rugsbie
lol whoever made this compellation is incredibly biased...still a great watch though
The body can endure a lot when your jacked up on steroids and horse pain killer's.
Who's on steroids and horse pain lkillers...
List the names of those players...because with the advancement of the sports science training the top tier countries undergo I would like to know. And tests are done before all games...
So if like the names and not just blanket statements
vous ne faites voir que les impacts mais pas les beaux gestes et le beau jeux de passe dommage le rugby ce n'est pas que les impacts
