Thank you for showing this process! I replaced my wiper motor this morning and of course my truck surprised me with no bushings and loose bars sliding around lol you saved me a lot of headache showing this process! Thanks!
I sincerely appreciate you posting this. I have to do the same job, and I would have likely followed the same steps you did. Thanks for showing it really is easiest to pull everything out.
Good video buddy, funny too… I have been trying to do this project for a year now, but since I saw this, now I’m confident… makes it easier taking it all out first. Thanks for sharing!
Superb Video, went through the same nightmare with mine and the only difference was the language, my neighbours were convinced I had Tourette’s. … Absolutely love your videos very real presentation, very refreshing. Many thanks
Nice work. We all have tried to do things a 'better' way and failed. Heck you always did that back in the day before TH-cam. Unless you had some 'car; friends that you could talk too. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
the right way is to: remove both stalks with the arms. next remove the 3/8 nut from the motor stalk, remove the off set arm. remove all loose items from the cavity. lay out all componets on a work bench. clean all small ball ends that fit into the plastic inserts (4) each. clean all removed items. insure the push arms are facing the correct direction (up or down. install all 4 plastic inserts into the arms. add small amount of white lub (do not fill completely) or very hard to assemble. its easier to us a vice to press together (helps to evenly press flat and square. Next ign turn power on. with pwr on turn on wipers and cycle 2 or 3 times. turn off wipers (this positions the wiper motor at the correct stop position). Insert the complete assy into to the first lighting hole just in front of the driver. install both stalks into the holes that you removed them from install 3 screws to each .(snug not tight). install the offf set arm, match up the square holes and and install the 3/8 nut and tighten. last tighten down the 3 screws on each stalk. before installing the panel lightly install the wiper arms. Turn PWR ign on turn on the wipers to see all is in the proper position. should a 30 min job. i have installed maybe 5 or 6 thousand. if all is correct remove temp installed wiper arms and install panel.. good luck
Working on my truck now and have run into an issue. Most of the parts of mine were loose in the cowl area so I pulled them all out to a work bench. Putting it back together, I discover that the 2 pieces the wipers are attached to are different sizes and I am not sure which is left and which is right. There is about 1/4" difference in length, does it matter which goes where?
Im sure it does matter but I'm not sure which part is right or left. If it's wrong I think one wiper will overshoot. Sorry I don't have more info for you. You might have to put it together, install it and see if it's correct. My *guess* is that the passenger side is the longer one, but I have no idea.
For some reason I thought mine had a stamping on it but I could be mistaken. I couldn't get to them to check for you. Maybe call the auto parts store and see if they have any listings that would give you a clue 🤷🏽♂️
@@HFG figured it out, asked on a Ram forum and someone mentioned they should have an L and R somewhere, a bit of sandpaper on the back revealed part numbers. Longer one goes on drivers side.
I'm not 100% sure but I'd guess that Chrysler would use as many cross-platform parts as possible to save money. I'm pretty sure my 71-74 Chargers used the same bushings as these. Double check though. I don't want to give you bad info. 👍🏼
Thanks for the info. It seemed ok from what I remember. This truck honestly won't see much rain, tbh. Only if I'm caught out, but I don't take it out when the weather is bad. Maybe on Power Tour if I go 🤷🏽♂️
Weren't you sponsored by Grease Monkey gloves. Lol. I always end up scratched up and bleeding anytime I work on my truck. The jobs not done proper unless there's a little blood.

You’re alright my friend! Your video was helpful and entertaining. Thank you beautiful soul.♾️🫶🏻💫
I'm glad you enjoyed it and it was helpful 👍🏼👍🏼
I was a Dodge parts guy from 81-85. Those grommets came from Chrysler with a dab of grease in them.. just a lil tidbit for ya... sold TONS of them..
I did my bushings (85 d150) 20 deg weather... it took me 6 hours.. HUMILIATED MY HUMAN DECENCY.... lol (I was a parts mgr, not a mechanic, btw) lol
Oof. That doesn't sound fun. Thanks for the info about the grease 👍🏼
THANK YOU for all of your hard work and posting this.. :)
they may very well have used the same tub of grease you have there.. ... lolol @@HFG

Thanks for this! I will add it to my list of videos to replace my bushings. They do sell cheap wiper arm removal tools
Glad you found it helpful. I'll have to get one of those tools. 👍🏼

A week ago I did it on my Plymouth Valiant under the dash and above the instrument panel....

Oof
If it makes you feel any better, I went through the same thing with mine. Was not easy.
Next time I'll take everything out beforehand :) 👍🏼
These are a pain! Still figuring it out on my 1972 plymouth satelitte. The oem part is discontinued and the replacement ones do not last.
I hear ya. Dorman is all I could find 🤷🏽♂️
great job man
👊🏼👊🏼 Much appreciated. I can drive it in the rain again lol
So it's good you got thar done before you replace the windshield.
I'm not really sure when I'm going to get it replaced so this was a priority.

Ahh. Glad you got it figured out 👍🏼 I thought I remembered a stamping. Thanks for confirming.
Does this also apply to sedans? Got a spirit with the same issue.

How's that room holding up since you did the rust repair?
Holding up great. It's rained so much this summer that I didn't get to finish the underside but once that's done I think it'll be really good 👍🏼
How about a Dorman part#? Thanks.
Sorry for not including that. I'll look for the box and let you know, and also add it to the video description 👍🏼
