Golden Chest could've been so interesting and good. If after being the game on normal mode and starting True Vault Hunter mode. You are able to earn golden keys. Like you can earn one key for every one level you level up. Once you reach the max rank, then you will just keep "leveling" the highest level over and over again.
bit like vault cards in BL3
It would be cool if it could drop legendaries once in awhile too.

My first playthrough of this game I didn’t know farming was a thing, so I used that chest til maybe half way through true vault hunter mode before finding out you can farm gear 💀
I got well into UVHM before lol
quick tip, should anybody need it; after sanctuary teleports away and you get to the thresher, just let the loaders kill it, if you cant do it yourself. for the beacon; the game has a fail safe, for those that are overwhelmed by the bots, the way i like to cheese this; place the beacon -> enter the holy spirits -> exit the holy spirits -> repair the beacon -> safe quit -> press continue -> repair the beacon -> safe quit and so on. if i am not mistaken, upon repairing the beacon 8 times it becomes completely invulnerable (you will know that it has become invulnerable when its health gets to zero but angel stops pressing you about repairing it), you can now get to one of the other two fast travel stations of the map, wait until the mission is complete and travel back to sanctuary.
note: there is even more cheese that you can use along the way back to sanctuary, like skipping the fridge, but im lazy so ill stop my comment here, if anybody would like more tips, i would have three more cheese tacs for your way back to sanctuary, so just ask and ill probably reply sooner or later.

its not about needing to cheese, its about being able to further more; it can be faster than the way youre 'supposed' to do it and if you are doing a challenge like; "non elemantel weapons on op10 with krieg" its a borderline requirement to cheese some parts of the game.
in other words; just let people play how they want to, for gods sake

I'm SO GLAD you picked up on how good the Dahl Minigun is, people hate on Dahl guns a lot, but with the proper parts, they can do some monstrous DPS
People hate Dahl guns? Last I checked the Hornet and Teapot are still considered some of the best early-mid game options, and the Sandhawk is easily the best SMG in the game and debatably the best gun in the game period.

Yeah, Dahl minigun is easily one of the best non unique AR's in the game. Scout Sniper rifle (vladof barrel) is surprisingly strong on Axton, Maya and Zer0 (tbf any sniper is good on Zer0) same for the Dahl barrel (just called sniper because Gearbox didn't think to change names for Maliwan and Dahl barrels)
@@strangeperson6969 I personally hate Dahl because I kept getting Dahl rifles and shit around the corner to where my arsenal was nothing but Dahl weaponry and it fucked me up.

golden chest - you need a fuckload of keyes to actually get the type of the item you want
and you need to keydump every 4 levels to remain effective
i got a corrosive assault rifle that lasted me like 10 lvls

Honestly, the number of shields I've gotten from that chest can be probably counted on two hands, across over a thousand hours of gameplay.
i get them all the time, i just want my jakobs longarm -_-
I get shields and pistols constantly, but its a real pain to get rocket launchers (at least one that isnt elemental)

That’s just how drops work across all loot based games hahahah. Whenever you want something really bad, chances are fate is gonna say nah ur good fam and never drop it. Reminds me of when I was going for a 1/500 drop on old school runescape and no joke hit a 1/9,000 before I got the 500 one. I out loud went “thanks, I guess???”

Well, I see no issue in completing the game using epics from the chest. Maybe (and quite often) not the best epics, often slightly below your current level, but they are generally better than what you get as a drop from enemies.
Quest rewards or rare loot (like Impaler) are indeed better, but having all-epic tier gear is already good enough :)
suprisingly enough, a quest rewards only run is REALLY fucking hard.

The awnser is YES you can. i remember spending 430 keys on that chest. however the loot from that chest isn't the greatest in the game. it's fairly decent but yeah.

What made me be able to make this game easy to play the first time I played it I got a drop that blatantly if I played the game on over a google plex amount of accounts for a google plex millenniums I would not be able to do again. I got Sledges shot gun from a guy from a dumpster in the first 45 minutes of playing the game. I saw him pop out of the dumpster and I killed the guy not knowing what the thing was but wanted to kill it for fun and it dropped a few guns including Sledges shot gun that required level 1 which I was level 4 at this point and it took used 2 shots per shot and had to be reloaded every time you shot it but it did over 1000 damage per shot or well 140 time 9 so about 1000 damage per shot and was fucking messed up as hell at how fast I got the dam thing. I used that thing on the final boss as well and got it from within the first less than hour of playing. I told people on an online forum years ago and after realizing the fucking monster of luck I got it in no fucking wonder people called me a liar. I gun I got is among the top 5 guns declared impossible do to the RNG of the drop rates and how fucking hell no that exact gremlin thing with the bag was to spawn. I may be the only person who legit got any guns from that fucker. He spawned and got stuck behind the dumpster and I shot him over 2000 times before he died he had such huge health and turns out the stronger you get the more damage he requires to take to kill and faster he runs away without looking back so if you think trying to max out your stats is best way to beat that is actually wrong and if you are stronger than level 7 he gains a shield and the shield respawns faster than you can damage so its physically impossible to kill after you get to level 7 or higher. RNG of the original is insane. Not only did I get the fucker to spawn but I got him before I was too strong causing him to gain a shield and not only that but I got among his impossible to drop items and not only that but I got it within 45 minutes of playing and not only that it was actually my first Boarderlands game I ever played. What I did was blatantly go fuck yourself impossible and after I realized what I had done I know why people wanted to hire hitmen to take me out because I was too dangerous to be left alive and my luck is beyond go fuck yourself insanity. The Steam version of Boarderlands has better odds that are not go fuck yourself insanity and can be done to get many of the rare drops within a couple of weeks max of grinding the game instead of the end of the universe and beyond trying and still fail like the original RNG.

I had a bug with this chest. When i first got the game, i got the free key or whatever it was that gave it to me. I opened the chest got a cool rocket launcher i could use for awhile, forgot about it after that. I played the game again maybe a year or two later after finishing my first playthrough, and somehow had the max number of keys. I had so much fun opening that stupid chest. Still no idea how or why that happened.
maybe some sort of underflow? like, some part of the game the game thought that you had 0 keys when other parts thought you had 1, and spending that key ticked down to -1, which on an unsigned int is the max int value
I don't know how you made the whole story of Borderlands 2 into a video that is under 12 minutes but you did it very well.
I can see that this video is like 15 months old but if you do another challenge like this, you can make it more challenging by not using Cloud Kill. It's THAT good.

Also highlights a few problems with the golden chest; you only get two items at a time, they aren't guarantied to be useable by your character, and they're locked to purple rarity.
At least the presequel let you recycle them into something better if not at least useable, though that still required grinding and decent rng.
Then the third just removed all incentive to even open it lol.

There’s actually a lot of shift codes still active, if you look it up there’s quite a few spreadsheets covering all the active ones, disabled ones, console specific, etc. hope this helps!
There are whole spreadsheets of working shift codes, enough to get several hundred keys. Or you can edit your save.

I think that the BL2 golden chest was one of the best Pay to play aspects of any RPG. It's dumb if all the best items are pay to win, but if you are going through some bad loot luck, could use a better gun but are okay with it not being the best, the golden chest is my favorite thing to hit up. I think back to times like, when playing zer0 and you're a ways from getting your next great muck a muck or legendary but the guns I have aren't holding up, I'll hit the golden chest for a railer or any jakobs rifle just to tie me over

the idea of golden keys is interesting though I still havent used mine, but I can't recall if BL2 gives you weapons that cater to your character's class like BL1 did.
But the gold chest will contain weapons that are like relatively 5 levels above you which you can use, so in a way its ideal to use the key when your maxed level.
And before anyone ask "Wouldnt it be ideal to do this 5 levels before the max? How does that work?"
Simple ratio value in coding terms, its complicated even I struggle but in simpler terms it follows the game's coding.
Step 1: Pick Salvador
Step 2: Random a build, literally everything works on salvador
Step 3: Farm the chest for molokos and topneas

There's a torque shotgun drop from the Golden chest that with the right modifiers is the strongest in the game.

@@Apocalypse25 i dont remember exactly, i remember what it looks like. it is a torque with 6 exaust ports on the barrel. should be like x18 shots or something with the barrel being the main parts. i dont think the stock or handle matters which manufacturer makes it, though can boost it a tad bit more. its a pink.

If you have a goty edition (this worked on ps3 back in the day, and may work on other versions)
Your game starts with golden keys, simply have a 2nd controller to splitscreen with and have the temporary guest account open the chest; the chest ques to host level, and the guest account will always have fresh keys
