The Indiana Jones films are such a wild ride and no matter what's thought about Indy 5, Harrison Ford is a phenomenal actor even in his old age and did such great work with the character over the years. Great video, my friend! Couldn't ask for a better Indy tribute

5 is high on my list actually. That or it might be close to my favorite. I’m still thinking about it. I love each film dearly with the exception of 4 which I enjoyed some points but it didn’t work overall. Even #2 is a guilty pleasure film of mine. I enjoy its darkness, the character arc Indy through and the music and action.

Sean Connery and Harrison Ford, I mean, it's not even a fair fight with the other films.

I admire the risks ToD took, its imaginative action sequences and, for Western audiences, the truly exotic setting. It's also not nearly as dark as Spielberg and Lucas seem to be embarrassed about. There is plenty of humour.
For myself, its biggest weakness is that Indy doesn't do nearly enough actual exploring and archeology - which I think he does more of in this movie than in any of the others, except Last Crusade, which has always helped set Indy apart from 90% of action heroes, especially in the 1980s.

Indiana Jones is a franchise that means more than the world to me and has for as long as it’s been experienced and passed down by my family. And while I can acknowledge these movies to be a flawed fantasy, they sure are that to me - a fantasy to live through the adventures of life regardless of how big or small. A very simple message yet a very powerful and compelling one at that. Something I adore from Indy’s films is that of which they have captured the grand and smaller, yet metaphorical, adventures of one man. It is so that I truly adore every single movie and this tribute for not having skipped over any of that. God, how I wish Dial of Destiny was viewed with more respect but hopefully those few that get it, get it.

2:56 - omg!! I just realised that in the trailer for the 5th movie "I have come to believe it's not so much what you believe in, it's how hard you believe" he was refering to his dad's words from the 3rd movie "You must believe boy, you must believe!"
I realised it only now despite watching the 3rd movie countless times

It’s videos like this that make me appreciate the entire run of a franchise. I personally liked Dial of Destiny. It was a nice bonding experience for me and dad who’s a BIG Indiana Jones fan. I still remember when he introduced me to Raiders, and the way I viewed movies from that point on radically changed.

I remember people being mad about how Indy’s class didn’t listen in dial of destiny, even though that directly ties into one of the main themes of the movie, how things change and life moves forward with or without you.
Indy’s class not being interested in what he’s saying mimics the cultural shift of the time the film is set in, where people were a lot less interested in the past, especially with the future being made so much more interesting with the (at the time) recent moon landing.
Voller even says that the world doesn’t appreciate men like him and Jones anymore, and that scene at the college is essentially living proof of that fact.
But even if we ignore the themes of the movie, and focus purely on continuity, Indy’s students in the 1930s didn’t really pay much attention either. The girls in the class were just staring because he was attractive, and the dudes just sat there like npcs probably daydreaming throughout half of it.
There was even an Indiana jones comic (keep in mind the books are canon as well) which features a brief moment of Indy fact checking a student who was being ignorant of Native American culture, and I’m pretty sure that’s not even the only time something like this has happened.
Even in the young chronicles of Indiana jones, where the crux of the show is an older Indy telling stories of his younger years, 90% of the time the people he’s talking to will ignore his story and miss the entire point of him telling it to them.
People sadly refuse to learn from history, which is consistent with this franchise, and real life if we’re being honest. If anything people should probably give props for accuracy on that front.
(Sorry for the rant, I’m way too passionate about this franchise, and I’m still confused about some of the complaints dial of destiny got. It feels like I didn’t even watch the same movie as them)

You know, we live our lives. We meet people, have experiences - “adventures” if you will, and we live on. But as we get older, life unfortunately starts to get bleaker. People we’ve loved our entire lives start to fade away from us, the times are changing, maybe not for the best, and our passion for life begins to grow out. And all we’re left with is our memories along with the desire to have life go back to the way it was.
But unfortunately that’s not how life works, nor it should. As much as we want to go back and experience again and fall in love again, we can’t. We have to live on because our destiny is to live to the absolute fullest and carry those we love and experiences in our hearts until the very end.
And thats how I see this franchise. I don’t look at these movie as a character arc within a singular film, I see a life. From the beginning we see Indy as passionate soldier of history wanting to preserve it. And as we go forward in the franchise, life starts to hit Indy. Marcus is gone. His father’s gone. The sudden impact of fatherhood hits him along with a marriage that failed before.
Then we get to this movie. His son’s dead. His marriage is gone once again, and the job that he once had an enormous passion for along with the rest of the world has faded into oblivion. He’s lost at the end of his life, until he found a reason again. A reason to live on.
This franchise and this character is a reflection to our lives in the most perfect way. As we saw Indy grew up, we grew up as well. And if you been here since ‘81, (unlike me) this statement fits you perfectly.
In the end, it’s beautiful. And this franchise needed to end this way in my opinion to see a full reflection of his life (and our lives) good and bad to the very end. Beautiful. And beautiful edit my friend ❤

I really wish Indy’s story didn’t end the way it did. The character deserved one last final hoorah but instead we saw a deconstruction of the character. All the old characters should’ve been front and center helping Dr Jones and I wish they would’ve paid some homage to the Indy tv show trying to connect the final film to it.
Visually Indy 5 wasn’t bad but the story was lacking. It just didn’t make sense at points and Phoebe was absolutely intolerable. I’ve never witnessed a more unlikable character in a film like her. They could’ve write the character in a respectful manner but decided to use the character to trash Indy.
