In my eyes there's absolutely no reason to shop at Amazon when the prices are the exact same. I'd rather give the full amount to the brand to produce more designs than give money to Amazon just for marketing

I’m going to assume that when they see that it’s an Amazon fulfillment they don’t bother to wrap it as nicely since they’re probably annoyed people have bought off Amazon and they’ve had to take a cut. I reckon they assume the Amazon customer doesn’t care as much about the luxury experience.

Yea no… I would never forget when my friend purchased her MacBook from “apple” on Amazon… went into the actual Apple Store for repair some time later and apple told us STRAIGHT UP she had a fake. I would love to see a part 2 of this comparing purchases. Besides, most luxury stores… you’re getting your good just as fast as amazon (but that’s my nyc bias)

I completely agree with you about wanting the luxury experience. I find buying luxury pieces on Amazon almost cheapens the experience and makes it more commodified, when for me it should be something you take your time for and buy from the store.

I always enjoy hearing your thoughtful ideas and insights! I especially like your commentary and analysis of various fashion topics, keep up the great content!
I don't feel like Amazon Luxury is necessarily aimed at clientele who already has easy access to the luxury experience. My guess it that it's aimed at places that have barriers to accessing luxury or to audiences who are only starting to engage with luxury and don't necessarily have preconceived notions of what the luxury experience should be. In term's of the benefit to the brands, I think the best incentive would be the (probably shocking) amount of consumer analytics that Amazon has.

This is an awesome video! I have purchased a few luxury items that are inexpensive from luxury brands, and I think that the experience depends on the brand. Some brands do give you all the packaging and however others don't. Obviously, Missoni doesn't. Personally, for more expensive items, I would definitely prefer to buy direct from the shop.

I agree if you are buying luxury items you want that experience that proud moment of the in wrapping and the care of the product placement and there is always a handwritten note in a luxury item. And personally will all the scams that go on are you really going to get the 1500.00 item you paid for. And there is. I relationship with the store or your sales person . Support the store support the designer and go to the shop, because that is the feeling and experience you want when walk out the door. Great video Cassie ❤ hane a great weekend sweetie 😊

Another thing that luxury retailers have that the brands themselves and Amazon doesn’t have, is good curation and merchandising. I buy from certain luxury retailers because they inspire me by what their buyers chose and how they style them etc. I also appreciate that their customers might have a similar perspective as I do, so the reviews are relevant and some are super great about sharing sizing information. So I think just from that they’d have a long way to go

I’m with you, disappointed in the lackluster effort for a well known brand. With a luxury brand it is the whole experience for me because I way overthink my purchases and do my research on an item before I dive in. Amazon and luxury... It just doesn't go together somehow. Amazon sells crazy amount of fakes, I would feel stupid saying that I have a dior top from Amazon. Plus it kind of takes away the "luxury" part, when your designer piece is in the same shopping cart as the ass wipes.

Another reason to shop at Amazon luxury stores is the Amazon points/ money that you get back. You get money back as Amazon credit when you make all purchases on Amazon. That’s a huge motivation to get the bug spray for free 🙃

The advantage of using Amazon is being able to use your Amazon gift cards, Amazon points, etc. on luxury pieces. I can directly redeem my credit card points on Amazon so there are some deals to be had. 😊 It’s deciding what balance of the experience vs smart shopping you’re personally comfortable with.
Also Amazon has been trying to break into this space for years and looking to compete with the likes of farfetch, etc. and they’re only starting to gain some traction now. The next few years will be interesting.

The experience is important to me. In fact, I hardly buy online when I buy luxury unless I’ve seen it in person. Still would rather pick it up and have a look at other items. That “unboxing” experience everyone raves about is not a factor to me. I like hearing feedback from the SA about styling and suggestions about other items and expected releases. And even if I have my eye on something and it’s to be discontinued soon.. Lol that part is fun!

Even as someone who can't afford to buy luxury goods (except beauty), I find that super sad and lack luster. I can't believe they are really out here selling at the MSRP and giving presentation like that. Though for me it's even _more_ true with beauty purchases, specifically because the presentation and the freebies on beauty purchases can often be so good it makes you feel like you're rich even when you're not. I bought a 40ml bottle of perfume from the Dior Privee line recently, direct from the Dior website, and my god, the experience was so good I felt like I'd nearly doubled the value of my purchase. Well done, Dior!

It’s definitely ALL about the experience plus the product. I think luxury shopping, unboxing, owning and wearing of the items is all inclusive of the experience. If the unboxing is lackluster, it seems to cheapen the brand in my experience. For example, I bought a YSL handbag from SAKS. I was super excited about my purchase. When the SA just placed my handbag in its dust bag and that inside of a SAKS shopping bag, I felt completely robbed of MY lux experience!!! Like, Chanel would never!!! I need all of the frills. I don’t care if I’m going to throw away the paper, I’d like to see the fan folds please and thank you. I’ll stick to buying household items on Amazon and leave lux to the brands! 🥰

I went through this to have a look here in the UK and on the UK site its even more limited brands, only Christopher Kane, Wires, Elie Saab, Altuzarra, Peter Dundas, Jonathan Cohen and Mira Mikati. No preloved and I hope it comes soon to the UK!

The main perk I can think of is how many credit cards offer cashback on Amazon purchases. I wonder if selling through Amazon would then be another cost the brand would put on the customer since it costs the brand to use the Amazon platform. I would never buy luxury on Amazon. I do live close to luxury stores, but I'd rather not have the thing than go without the luxury experience 💕

This was a very sad unboxing lovely Cassie. You just weren't your excited vibrant self with this but I can understand why. Still beautiful though. 😁 You would hope they would pack it better if buying from their website but then this wouldn't encourage me to buy direct from at all. I hope the top worked out for you though. It is very cute and looks like a you top. Much love to you, Nii and your wonderful parents. Jenni from Australia. XXXX

One reason people may use it is easier returns, being able to drop things off at whole foods is the biggest reason I have continued to shop at amazon! Maybe this can be an investigative shopping project? Make an order from missoni's website and farfetch to compare?

Oh no! I LOVE luxury shopping online from the retailers or luxury stores! I need the pomp and circumstance...the packaging, thank you cards, the box (even if it just goes into recycle). Sephora even gives you more than that and feels more special. I love feeling like I'm receiving a gift EVERY TIME I shop online because my loved ones give me $ and let me buy what I want for birthdays and Christmas...long story short, no thank you Amazon!

This is a great topic ❤ When I buy luxury I love the whole luxury experience. Unfortunatelly the most of retailers don’t give it to me. Don’t get me wrong I like for example Farfetch but only because of savings. It is another level to buy a bag from Saint Laurent website or from Farfetch. I am here for buying directly from luxury brands. I love the packaging and service😊Does everyone have the same experience?

so my bias is im not a big amazon person but i love zappos (owned by AZ, and ive spent alot). for certain things and price points its fine..shoes, some bags (under $700) maybe some clothing. For other things i wouldn't like it lika a preloved chanel/ really expensive clothes/jackets id stick to fashionphile or therealreal or outnet

No thank you. I like to go to the store and have that luxury experience. I'm probably the only person who don't buy things from Amazon. And it's not only luxury but absolutely nothing. For some reason I do not trust them and I don't like it.

I think it would really be beneficial if you're getting something small, inexpensive or a more contemporary item (socks, headband, scrunchies, etc) and you don't have a profile with the brand and don't care too much and have no plans to order from them again. I could see myself just tacking it on to an order. Sometimes when you order from popular 3rd party sites you get a similar experience but thats usually when its marked down majorly. So it its way cheaper i'll take the savings but if its same price ill get directly from the brand

  • @marynorton6068
    @marynorton6068 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If I’m paying the same full price as a luxury store, I’d want the luxury experience. If they can’t/won’t give that, then Amazon should make the goods cheaper. Id need some sort of incentive to compensate for the lack of “pomp & ceremony”

  • @callioscope

If I could not buy an item unless in person halfway ‘round the world, then I might do a fulfilled by the brand on Amazon. Otherwise, no, I would not buy luxury fashion/leather from Amazon. True luxury means it is not a necessity, so the experience plays a part. Our place looked like an Amazon fulfillment center during lockdown and I can never get that picture out of my head.

If Amazon wants to make fetch happen this much and actually be a major fashion retailer, they could try not being the most well-known marketplace on the planet with a huge counterfeit goods problem. Or they could also try not being well known for having their items arrive rattling around in oversized boxes. I bought a Jacquemus Bambino bag from Shopbop (an Amazon-owned brand) and it came loose in a clear plastic bag, just rattling around in the box with no tissue paper or padding or anything. For an almost $700 item, how much could a few squares of bubble wrap possibly cost them?

  • @jacquelinemoss1911

I completely agree, if it’s not coming from the brand I would be worried but if it’s from the brand and it’s the same price as the store then I know where I’m buying from 😬 it’s just too weird honestly 😂 just adding we have a international luxury store here called Belinda and I bought a few times from there but reluctantly as I bought a $3k Erdem dress once and it came wrapped like that and then in a post bag and that’s the same with everything I bought from them and it does leave a bitter taste honestly

Part of the reason I buy direct from stores when I can often find the products cheaper elsewhere is the goodwill. I like having spend with a store and rapport with an SA so I can at least imagine that I am buying goodwill that will result in a random gift or invite to a show or at least priority for a future collection. I'm sure even if I was a brand's top, number 1 Amazon buyer that they would not care or even track my purchases. I've also found that buying products 3rd party leads to awkward questions and encounters and honestly suspicion, which is valid on the brand's part. The only time I buy 3rd party now is if the price is significantly cheaper (and authentic lol) or it's no longer in stock/season at the brand. So if Amazon is selling the same products for the retail price, I will not be participating.

My Bottega Veneta bag from Harrods arrived exactly like that, actually it was dumped on my doorstep and I accidentally 'came across it' when I opened the door (surely the delivery should have been signed for?). It was in its BV dust bag inside an ugly, brown paper box. That's it. No thank you, no how to return, no bow - nothing. Super underwhelming. But the bag is lovely

The only reason I can see anyone buying luxury from Amazon is if they happen to have a Amazon credit card. Maybe they don’t have other credit cards or maybe they get points for using the Amazon credit card? Who knows….. But personally, I could not. I would be afraid of fakes and issues returning. But I found this video very interesting and informative as I had been curious about the Amazon Luxury. Thank you for taking one for the team girl! Let us know how the top worked out! It’s super cute!
