I have a love-hate relationship with this song. The music is amazing and relaxing, love it. But the lyrics give me an existential crisis. Though they somehow make me feel lighter, it doesn't happen every time. So yeah. Most catchy existential crisis.
The song explains the mindset of optimistic nihilism, it says that your life really doesn't amount to anything in the grand scheme of time, space, and the universe. So you shouldn't spend so much time worrying about things and just live the way you like it, because the universe ain't gonna judge you for it.

Somehow that makes me feel way better, because then even if we die off within one generation, it was meant to be that way anyway.

It was a long drive because I wanted to do it at a specific place, and on the road I accepted that I would do it. But why? I could very well die before I get there. Or tomorrow. Hell, I could’ve died 5 mins ago and shit would still go on without me. Is it that being dead is as simple as this? I accepted that I will die at any moment, turned the car and headed back home, then straight to therapy. I don’t tell this, but I feel like I already died during that long drive, and it really feels peaceful to not crave recognition, wealth, power. All I need is enough to live out my days, alone or with loved ones, and on that “fateful” day it won’t matter anymore. Not to me at least.

This song helped me not be afraid of death, I’m Christian and I’ve repented and I believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven, so I know I’m going to heaven after I die, but the thought of not living just scared me, until I heard this, now when I’m scared of doing something I say to myself “memento Mori” which in English means Remember death, and that life is temporary. My favorite line in the song is “so If you only have one chance you ought to try your best to live as you like, one day you’re going to die!” Because it reminds me to do the things I’m scared of because one day we’ll all die. It’s morbid but also kinda happy if you think about it lol Edit: I can now play this on ukulele, so this’ll be played in a gig sometime haha
