If it's an Amazon Fire tablet you will probably have to jailbreak it in order to install the Google Play Store app on it so you can get the app needed to work with your dongle.
I tried 2 different $20 usb capture devices and all I got was a black screen on my Samsung phone and my laptop. I have a $300 Magewell device and it works well with the camcorder and the tablet.
How reliable is Monitor+ for you? I’ve had a lot of trouble with it freezing and crashing. Then I’m doing a repeated unplug of everything, closing and reopening the app and turning the camera on and off trying to get it to work again.
Not unless your phone has an HDMI port 😅. Seriously though, I'm not sure if any cameras are using USB-C to output video instead of HDMI, but if there are some I don't have an answer for you. That's why you need the capture card though. To take the HDMI feed and convert it to a datastream for USB.
@@seymourecarnagesome cameras have USB streaming which basically emulates a USB webcam which I have tried and you can just plug directly into the phone. But this only works in video mode, might have a limited output resolution (depending on the camera), and prevents the camera from recording to the SD card so you would have to screen record on the phone which makes it pretty much useless.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking so I will answer both of my possible interpretations. 1. Monitoring will have no impact on the quality of the video recording. 2. If you're wondering if the quality of the monitoring footage will match/reflect the quality of the video footage, it will depend on the quality/capability of the display on your device, your settings, etc. Hope this helps.
I don't have a good response to this. My last Sony was an A6000, and that was years ago. I'm guessing you can, though. Post your findings here, for sure!
As I said in the video, if your IOS device is a newer USB-C model, and the dongle you get says it's IOS compatible it should work, but I can't recommend an app for it.
@@MrBilly26 I can't imagine it would. The camera is just sending raw HDMI information. The phone needs an app running to interpret that signal as video and display or record it. A hard drive needs an operating system, program or protocol to be able to write data to itself.
As I mentioned in the video I am not sure what the Apple equivalent app is. I would make sure your USB-C dongle says it's Apple compatible and then use whatever app comes with it.
No. That would defeat the purpose as a monitor. I have it facing towards me and use to make sure my shots stay in frame, check my focus tracking if I'm holding up objects, etc.
@@seymourecarnage Nothing we can do about it: ) so I had to get android phone to do that 😄 anyway I’m planing to buy Galaxy ultra 24, life is easier with android phones, I’m not that sure if I still want iPhone
The capture dongle is less than $10. That's all you need to turn your phone or tablet into a monitor, as long your camera has compatible connections. I simply lay out the potential other costs you may run into depending on your circumstances or optional accessories you may or may not already own. I call out the worst-case total investment at 3:25.
Thanks so much. This was clutch for me, a beginner.
Glad to hear it. Thanks for letting me know. Feedback like this keeps me going!
Awesome, concise and straight forward
Thanks man. I appreciate hearing stuff like this!
This... is super useful. Majide
Thanks RYAN
I have a amazon tablet to use as my monitor. I hope this will work with my Fujifilm DSLR camera

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. What brands were the one that didn't work? For other people's reference.
For iOS use MONITOR+ or similar…
By the way… you can use no dongle and buy a cable HDMI to USB-C
Thanks for the information! Good looking out for my followers in the iOS community.

wow this is great... Thank you Sir, Can we directly plug HDMI from camera to smartphone (without HDMI capture card) ?

@@NicksperimentsNot all cameras have a webcam option. I know of many modern ones that don't. This will work with any camera with an HDMI port.
what are your camera settings as i am getting no image from the camera(fuji xe3,xpro-2 and xt-5)? i am using camx app and i phone 15 latest ios?
As I said in the video, I don't have personal experience with IOS devices. Sorry.
I shot a lot on my iPhone, is there a way to use another iPhone or iPad as the monitor? Wired connection. The apps don’t quite work. Thank you!
Not that I know of. Sorry!
Will simultaneousy monitoring & recording on the phone via a dongle be of good enough quality for 4k video ?

Thank you, did you test this on Android 10?
This was on a jailbroken Kindle Fire 10 HD+, which runs Android 9.
I wonder if I can connect directly usb-c (sony a6600) with usb-c (android tablet)

Can this work straight to an external SSD?

@seymourecarnage that's a shame. I have an external screen with hdmi out, so i thought just to connect to it the ssd.
Thanks anyway
@MrBilly26 I think you'd have to get an Atomos Ninja or something. Not just a hard drive.
What app for iOS??

apple is for fanboys; get a real phone. android.
Does your tablet monitor screen go black when pressing record on camera?

I have the same problem.
I tried everythink with apple phone, its not working even with USB 3 adapter, on ipads it work, but not iphones
@@wasil3k Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you couldn't get something with your iPhone. Sounds like you had better luck than most, though.
