Things I'm impressed with in order of importance: 1) Dawn's nails 2) John's ability to shoehorn a Winston Churchill quote into a double threshold session 3) Dawn's double threshold session Great job, Dawn!
Double days are a great workout, i do several a week, usually a progressive run, then a structured session. Certainly builds the training. Keep up the great work. Looking strong.
Two great sessions! 10x800 sounds rather brutal to me. Congrats on still managing the weekend long run, you're banking the miles and I hope all this training will pay off on race day.
Thanks, Matt and Mrs. RTP. 🙂 The double session was more mentally tough, knowing that after the morning, you still had another to do later. Physically tiring but not so much I couldn't run the next day.
Thanks, Andy. Definitely, as you say. I was pretty tired after both sessions, though. 😅 It's probably something I'd build in fortnightly rather than weekly for me.
Well done, Dawn. Some interesting insights into the pros and cons. I can imagine it affecting the long run a couple of days later. Thanks for testing it out for us! 👌🏃♂️
Thanks, Mark. Yes, the long run did feel tougher than normal. I did also do 10 miles altogether yesterday as I had a mileage target to hit for the week. I'd probably do it differently next time with an easy day after. 🙂
Great day well done! I’ve never heard of double threshold. Sounds tough! Did you do any more of those and if what did the session look like? For the 800m intervals how did the pace differ compared to if you had done 800m on a single day?
Hi Helen. I haven't done any more to date as I'm back at work full time. But next marathon block I'll work them in as they do give a good boost and you can get lots of volume in at a strong pace. If I had done 10 x 800 flat out I'd have done them in about 3:10 each or 6.20 miling
Great to see the old training ground , many miles we’ve spent running the TPT from our home at Millhouse Green in either direction . Best wishes from a couple of Dereham Runners .
Ah yes I remember speaking to you at the 5k commenting on our Penistone vests. A great resource the TPT. Even better when they've mended the bridge at Bullhouse which has been shut for over two years now.
Making me tired just thinking about 2 interval runs in 1 day 😁 How do you decide what sessions to do? I’ve seen some of the guys doing this on their channels but great that you’ve added this into yours as well.
Thanks, Rachel. Choosing the sessions depends on what you're training for. We did some reading around the type of sessions to include, as you say, watching some of the channels such as FOD to see them in action. I thought they would be harder than they were, but working at threshold isn't an all-out effort, so you do recover quite nicely between. Although I was a bit zonked in the evening. 🤣

Haha. Thanks, Ian. 🙂

Thank you. 👍
Great work Dawn, love how after so many years of running you are both open minded to try new things. Love Johns WC quote 😂
Thanks. Yes, we like to look at new types of training and see if it can work for us. John is the master of quotes... 😅
Great work on both the double threshold and the 22miler, Dawn! It's looking good for the marathon 👌🏼
Thanks, Sam. I hope so...
Great nails, Dawn!
Been toying with the idea of double threshold, mid-week before and after work. Cheers for the insight!
Thanks, Mack. Personally, if I could do mid-week, that's what I'd choose as it gives a longer recovery before any weekend long run.
Look at you, Dawn getting all Norwegian on us. Great video and savage session guys. I bet you had some serious calories after the second session.
Haha. Thanks, Neil. Funnily enough, I didn't feel like eating after the second session. I felt very tired in the evening, though. 🤣

Thanks, Chloe. The 800s were fine as done at threshold pace all in. More fatigued than anything. Fingers crossed for a good marathon. 👍
Great session Dawn, impressive stuff and not easy I bet ! but Mrs RTP is especially impressed your new shinny red nails 💅💅💅

Well done Dawn 👏 great work… looks like you did is perfectly! The evening is always tough to get going but once your going, it’s alright 😉

@@tworunningbrooms really, that would a problem. I remember reading about a rail disaster on that bridge , before our time of course.
@HelenandMartinsTreks 1884. If you look up Dawn and John's History Walks we did a video on that in our short lived history channel.
@@tworunningbrooms Will do thanks
I'll be there for the metric
Good luck 👍
