  • Between Christmas and New Year, a nice snowy walk to keep the magic alive
Home to the adventurous subscriber. As well as films we have a bi-weekly Vlog to keep up to date on the previous and next week’s videos, and a chance for all to air their views on a variety of subjects, why not join in.
My passion has been walking, a while ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and walking does not come naturally any more, however the more I walk the easier it gets, for now anyway. I hope these videos will inspire others to keep going and hanging on in there. I try to cover variety of subjects, such as old abandoned railways, and canals. I love the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, with its rich history and I usually take my camera whenever we holiday in the southwest and Cornwall. The rugged coastal paths are a magnet for anyone who loves dramatic scenery. I live close to the Cotswolds Hills and have done quite a lot of walking around there, recently, following some of the lovely rivers. Hill walking on the Malvern’s is a challenge but worth the effort. I try not to let Parkinson’s get me down and take every opportunity to get out with my camera and film, I hope you enjoy watching. P.W.

Good Morming Ron - greetings from Poland
I started to watch this superb film Unfortunatley after 5 minutes I was so cold I had to go and put my coat on!
Beauitful scenery especially at the end of the video. That range of hills in the background looked spectacular.
Lovely music, especially the piano solo.
Thanks for bringing so much enjoyment into my life during this past year. I hope 2024 brings you and Pauline good health, prosperity and lots of happiness.

Greetings from the Parkinsons Walks Home for retired contributors. I am probably in a minority of one when I say this is the best Parkinsons Walks Video I have seen. Lovely to see just the countryside in the snow without Railways, Aircraft and just a few cars. I have watched it 3 times already it is brilliant to see what was common at Christmas and New Year in my childhood back in the 1960's. Happy New Year to you both.

I think Angus Dei by The Choir Boys is so good that when the time comes I will have that at my funeral (Mind you I am not planning on going for some years yet)! I will keep an eye out for walks like this next year and no doubt comment. @@ParkinsonsWalks

Back in the Day, I was with a client in Uley, and they mentioned snow heading up the Bristol Channel - Business concluded, I went over to the office at Nailsworth, stopping at the shops in the centre, which was very busy, all the shelves of bread, bottled water and firewood had been cleared - Snows comin up the Channel was on everyone’s lips - and sure enough it started to fall, and was a Good Covering by the time I got thru Stroud and onto the Motorway, getting back to Worcester just before everything seized up and needless to say it was a week before I ventured down there again ☃️😁 Health Wealth and Happiness for Everyone this Coming New Year 🎊

    What an amazing video Ron.
I haven't got any snow footage or photos of any of the Three Counties apart from some Kodachrome slides from the early 1980s, as I was living in Cornwall the last time it snowed this way.
What I particularly enjoyed about this was the soundtrack and how you interplayed the music with the sound effects - beautifully done.

Good morning Ron. I hope you and Pauline are well and had a good Christmas. I guess it's turkey sandwiches for the next few weeks now lol! I finally got over my bout of Covid and associated bugs before I went down to see my relatives for Christmas, but still retain a lingering cough which I think most people end up with and which takes several weeks to disappear. I see I managed to escape getting a "hit" in last week's matters arising: I must have been flying elsewhere than in your area and therefore avoided any risk of complaint!
Thank you for today's video of your snow walk. Snow is certainly very beautiful to look at in the country, especially before the gritters have been out and turned it to brown slush. However, I have never been keen in being out in snow, although I did go walking in the Beacons when there was some snow up there a few weeks ago. Even as a kid I hated getting cold and wet in the snow and much preferred to be indoors. You certainly found some nice shots for the video and I thought the views of the church and churchyard in the snow were incredible.
I look forward to next week's chat and finding out where we are going walking for the start of 2024 - I won't be late! So, very best wishes to you both for a happy and peaceful new year. Regards, Trev.

Good morning Ron. When was that film made? That's the kind of conditions I always hope for every year, but seldom get. You were brave to get out when the snow was actually falling, but what a difference the sunshine made on the following day. Mary recognised Cleeve Hill in one shot , but to me they are just lovely views. I think your summer house and garden also made an appearance. Great piece of photography. Mary can always spot Cleeve Hiil. She lived in that area, so she knows it well.

Mornin' Ron, a really enjoyable winter scene, the landscape is transformed and sometimes the horizon merges with the sky. You caught it perfectly, the music spot on and really well edited, thank you very much!!
I think this is from your archives, when did you film this? Have you had snow like that since? The last big snow that we had in Spain was on the eve of COVID even then we didn't get too much here, although thankfully it did higher up.
At one point 6:20 the snow was driving hard. For many years I used to drive to Murcia from Granada Sunday nights it's all motorway but for about 100 miles you are generally above 3000' high (at one point your higher than Ben Nevis). Several times I have battled through the driving snow and it has a mesmerising effect, fun to start with but after a short while you start to worry. They do look after the road well so often you would be behind a snow plough.
I shall raise a toast to you and all of the PW family tomorrow .... then I'll do it again at 1am as it strikes New Year in the UK. Now there is an interesting thought, how many different time zones do we have to toast? Poland, Spain, Canada, Tennessee, New Zealand, the UK .... I'll switch to non-alcoholic champagne!!
    All the best
Ps: I far prefer cider to champagne for toasting. Cider country is right at the top of Spain, about as near as possible to Somerset as they could get. Here they make a sparkling version ideal for celebrations much much better than champagne. My favourite bottle has a man playing the bagpipes (gaiter) on it. This the Celtic area of Spain that never succumbed to Islamic rule.

Very seasonal, Ron, but I don't think I would have ventured out when it was snowing -- thank you for braving the blizzard on our behalf. It was much nicer when the sun came out. Was this a recent walk, or a re-use of some old footage? Either way, it was most appreciated. I made my Christmas video on the beach, as usual, and had a surprise visit from Santa, as you may have seen: th-cam.com/video/pYCV-5tcO2Q/w-d-xo.html .There was no snow, though!
