      How long do you have to drive to leave the city? There's an amazing place near my home town. 25 minutes drive, walk to cross a forest for about 10 minutes, and on the other side are some large fields, and there's a nice bench beside that path. If I had the money to afford a good telescope, I would stream from there.

But look at what is outside of the ants world. Accept that we are tiny and not near as Important as we think and fix our own ant hill and forget about what's out there. Thats what i always thought.. I might sound dumb to say this (or may b i am) , but how can you think that extraterrestrial life also needs the indgredients which are necessary for our existence . May be they dont need oxygen to live , may be they dont need to eat anything and gets energy from different sources. May be they can survive 100 degree celsius .. You just never know. We adapted to our circumstances, not the otherway around..

    • @OreNoObentou

      @@neelamdas3639 It's not that scientists don't believe that life needs the exact same conditions as we do, but that it's easier to look for something that is familiar in the vast expanse that is space. For example: If you were to go look for a new species of fish, you would probably search for it in a body of water.

    • @nutyyyy
      @nutyyyy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neelamdas3639 Because everything else in the universe follows the same fundamental rules that apply here. We also conspicuously find life on this planet around a pretty much perfect star but have yet to observe any life on any of the other planets of the solar system. So its not unreasonable to conclude that life likely requires similar conditions to those of our own planet.

    • @pvthudson5069
      @pvthudson5069 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@NoName-nq8vc Nah. Scientist are not working together but in competition. Competition is motivation. Without it progress would be slower. That military funding leads to so much science and technology. Gun powder = rockets=satellites=space exploration. Nuclear physics. The first monkey to pick up a stick to fight with began the whole process.
      You assume the US would give away all this knowledge. If the US was a war free utopia, I would go there with a gun and take it all from you.
      I agree with your sentiments whole hearted but it is an idealistic notion. Something would fuck it up. We need to become one people first.

    • @robertwatkins3602
      @robertwatkins3602 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Nah life is probably common as microbes, uncommon as large macro organisms, intelligence is rare, and extremely rare for technological civilizations. The filters just keep stacking up exponentially is the issue but life is probably not that rare in general.

    • @Le0nnh

      After watching Isaac Arthur's take on the matter I feel more optimistic about it.

      @@robertwatkins3602 Or just too far away for us to detect, or still stuck in their version of the Medieval Era, or so advanced that we don't have the tech to listen to them, or so different that we'll never recognize each other's intelligence. The list goes on and on.

    • @desperado3236
      @desperado3236 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rare theory is certainly plausable but i think its more likely we just havent found then yet. Why?
      First of all, the universe is a big place and with the way light works, it takes so long to reach us. Add to that the universe expanding and galaxies drifting apart, it becomes even slower. Depending on how rare aliens are we may never find then.
      Also we put too much faith in our detection methods. We can only think with our human mindset Since its aliens we are talking about, it stands to reason they are nothing like us, thus might have totally diff tech that we cant detect or even know to look for. We are just guessing wildly.
      Of course all the fermi theories are plausable and to be honest most of them are equally plausible. Its just that each person has their favs and likes to justify why they think theirs are the most likely. The reality is, we just do not have anywhere near enough info to make even educated guesses. We are just guessing about guesses.

    • @Horus4302
      @Horus4302 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It´s just that other solar systems, let alone other galaxies are so far away. Even if some other civilization discovers earth, they might not even bother with us. They would be technologically way more advanced than we are if they can travel these long distances, and we wouldn´t be of much use to them. Sure, they could say hello and share their technology with us, but they might not want to interfere in another culture to preserve it.

    I think that when virtual particles pop into existence they leave an imprint in space 3 dimensionally, making space grow bigger even when the particles annihilate each other. Since there is more space there would be a higher chance for virtual particles, and thats why I think the expansion of space is expanding.

    The explanation of dark matter, saying “yeah we kind of made that up but it just kind of caught on” without actually saying that is my favorite aspect of this channel.

    The Great Attractor was the subject of the first research paper i was a part of WAY back in 1998... the Zone of Avoidance is interesting and TGA is the most interesting part of it

    Along side the theme: There is also the rogue primordial black hole being dark matter theory. At any moment a black hole the size of a tennis ball with the mass of the 3 earths could come swooping through our solar system hitting earth and destroying it.
