i used it at the at&t store, but unfortunately only for about a minute so i barely got to do anything. However, it was pretty awesome while I had it, and yes the haptic feedback was super good, but not apple good.
Be that as it may, everything else is better except for gaming performance. Display resolution, sound quality, usable display surface, form factor, weight, assistant AI, microphone, bezels, one handed usability, camera features, fingerprint scanner placement, price, etc.
Ed R. V30 does have a big screen BUT very small bezels, so it's a lot of phone in a relatively small footprint. Unless you have tiny Drumpf hands, I think you'll find it fairly easy to handle. But by all means, go to BestBuy or your carrier's store to try it out, just to make sure. FWIW, I have average hands and switched from an iPhone 5 (same footprint as an SE) to a Samsung Note 5 two years ago, and honestly the iPhone 5 (which I still keep as an emergency backup) feels like a toy phone to me now ! LOL

The big issue is that it has an LG logo. If there was almost _any_ other logo on it, it would do better. But LG has been doing terrible phones for too long, and people remember. It's a shame, because since the G5 they've done some amazing phones.
I must say, aside from the phone itself. There's one more thing about LG V30 spec that is underrated and no other tech reviewers are covering.... The wireless "aptX HD" support which also delivers when it comes to high quality audio. Not to mention also that V30 is already bluetooth 5.0 certified which brings more stable and longer range connection with higher bitrate compression. So yeah, LG didn't just upped their "wired audio" game but they also have something to offer for those no longer wants a headphone jack.

Cody Shaw not really, bluetooth 5.0 and previous bluetooth 4.2 just like you have on G5 has almost the same in terms of audio quality. What bluetooth brings something new is you can pair your bluetooth device with longer range without losing audio quality and you can pair 2 different devices simultaneously. And make sure your bluetooth speaker is also aptX certified to take advantage of "cd like quality" music paired to a V30 or your G5.

I can't wait for this phone, I will be upgrading from the V20. Hoping for improvements to the overall audio quality. A feature I see alot of reviews fail to mention is the MQA support, once Tidal comes out with an update for mobile MQA, This feature is going to rock. Up to 32/384 MQA with the hardware decoding of this phone like a few quite expensive desktop DACs out there. Many quite popular MQA tracks on Tidal already support atleast 24/192 audio.
That's one nice phone and I have to say that buying a phone just for the camera's sake seems somewhat skewed. There are always compromises to be made and what makes the v30 pop is that there are so few of them inherent in this device.
I probably will be upgrading soon to this one, but I love my LG V10!, it has the volume buttons on the back, which attracted me to it, no accidentally adjusting the volume when holding it, I wish they would have kept that feature, my V10 has awesome sound, takes really good pics too, I kept having problems with Samsung phones, so I tried LG, so glad I did!
Walked into the TMobile store last week to buy an S8+ (I still love that phone). However, I walked out with a V30 and I'm very happy with it. The Quad DAC wired headphones weren't even on my radar when I bought it, but I've fallen in love with the audio quality. Beautiful looking, beautiful sounding, powerhouse of a phone. What's not to like.
The BEST implementation of bezeless of any phone so far. No notch and the bottom and tops are sooo minimal, more so than the Galaxies. I currently use a Galaxy S8 btw

The main reason I'll be passing on this phone is that front facing camera. Really leaves a lot to be desired. That was the deal breaker for me cos I really need it to be good. Also, can I take a moment just to compliment the reviewer, Zachary, for doing a fantastic job? Very engaging to listen to with a good vocabulary and relevant points. A lot of reviews drone about specs and how that's 'good' but this actually felt like a review that covered things that matter. Fantastic job.
POLED is supposed to be more resistant to burn in than regular OLED, but after two weeks, I can already see some minor burn in from the navigation bar buttons.
Not sure why the need to black out the navigation and home button bar at the bottom in some apps. The purpose of the edge to edge screen is to have a more immersive feel in everything. Blacking out the bottom bar where the home button sits doesnt do that. Not a Samsung fan but they actually made a transparent bar and thats the whole purpose of an edge to edge.
Regarding the front facing camera... try turning off the face smoothing. It helps a ton. But yeah, they definitely sacrificed the front camera a bit to keep the bezel small.
The prices of the V30 has really fallen and there also happens to be a notification light and a double tap to wake and sleep feature which is missing in most of the phones today.
I wish you had addressed the three main concerns.. Screen quality (uniformity), OS updates, and bloatware. I feel like I didn't really learn anything more than a pre production quick review.
LG phones have been great since the G2 always innovated. Especially the G3 first phone with 65%+ Screen to Body Ratio, QHD Display, 3000mah battery, Laser Focus this was 2014 and phones are barely getting these today.
Left the iPhone for this device. I bought the 8 Plus 256, was over $1100 for a phone with a 4 year old body, a 1080p screen, etc. Took it back. That phone should retail for $650. I enjoy buying luxury products, Apple used to deliver that. At this point though they are almost 100% copying innovation from competition, and selling it a year or 2 (or more) later, pretending like it's new, and selling it at a premium. I'm not gonna get hustled like that. Am thinking about making a video of how I tailored my Android experience to make the transition from iOS doable. If you're interested, let me know.
I really love what LG have done with the V30. My only gripe with the phone is LG's UX design. I don't even have an issue with having a skin. The added features are actually very nice. It is just how it all looks.
I recently bought the LG V20 heavily discounted and a grey import as they did not release it in the UK. The quad DAC is absolutely phenomenal, and the rest of the phone is not too shabby, I love the secondary screen, very useful (it's a shame they've dropped it). However, if the V30 has improved the DAC and camera then in a couple of years time I will have no hesitation in upgrading to the V30 (and LG are going to release this one in the UK).
Please list the details of your home screen set up (It's the best I've seen so far). Btw - How did you get a blue model? No one that I know in the states is selling that variant. .... I bought the LG V30 on October 5th and have enjoyed it ever since. The screen is beautiful, and the audio is amazing. My only minor gripe is the back button feels a little shallow (or spongy), and I'm not getting as good of a result with the camera as you stated (probably user error on my part). However, coming over from an iPhone 6s I'm amazed at the quality and speed of the LG.
Now I have a problem, the gorgeous blue or the Darth Vader black with the extra 64Gb on board and the BO headset? In Italy is only 50€ difference and if on a payment plan they both cost the same.
I agree that this is a top tier phone for 2017. I am happy with my Note 8 but there are a few things I'm jealous of from this phone (audio, IR blaster, fingerprint scanner placement), but this is the problem I have with these phones: there is no perfect phone yet still. I can find reasons I'd prefer the Note8 (s-pen, 6 GB RAM, Samsung Pay), Pixel XL 2 (Google exclusive features, unlimited storage, unparalleled smoothness), and LG V30 (mentioned above). I've owned the Pixel, V20, and Note 5. They all have their pros and cons. In the end, the s-pen is a game changer I cannot live without anymore. One day I hope someone makes a phone with everything I want! :-)
Watching this on my V20. This will be my next phone when the price drops next year. I would have loved an IR Blaster and sure 6GB of RAM, however overall this is the best phone for me.

Awesome review! I have been looking for a new phone for a few months but decided I didn't want an iPhone or Samsung (which is what I have now) because I wanted to try something different. Just purchase the LG V30 and am so excited to start playing with it!!!

LG V30 is a definite buy for me but I will not be using the front camera for selfies much if at all. That's my only downside with it so far.

I recently bought the LG V20 heavily discounted and a grey import as they did not release it in the UK. The quad DAC is absolutely phenomenal, and the rest of the phone is not too shabby, I love the secondary screen, very useful (it's a shame they've dropped it). However, if the V30 has improved the DAC and camera then in a couple of years time I will have no hesitation in upgrading to the V30 (and LG are going to release this one in the UK).
Please list the details of your home screen set up (It's the best I've seen so far). Btw - How did you get a blue model? No one that I know in the states is selling that variant.
.... I bought the LG V30 on October 5th and have enjoyed it ever since. The screen is beautiful, and the audio is amazing. My only minor gripe is the back button feels a little shallow (or spongy), and I'm not getting as good of a result with the camera as you stated (probably user error on my part). However, coming over from an iPhone 6s I'm amazed at the quality and speed of the LG.
Now I have a problem, the gorgeous blue or the Darth Vader black with the extra 64Gb on board and the BO headset? In Italy is only 50€ difference and if on a payment plan they both cost the same.
definitely getting the V30 when my contract runs out, but sadly in January 18

I agree that this is a top tier phone for 2017. I am happy with my Note 8 but there are a few things I'm jealous of from this phone (audio, IR blaster, fingerprint scanner placement), but this is the problem I have with these phones: there is no perfect phone yet still. I can find reasons I'd prefer the Note8 (s-pen, 6 GB RAM, Samsung Pay), Pixel XL 2 (Google exclusive features, unlimited storage, unparalleled smoothness), and LG V30 (mentioned above). I've owned the Pixel, V20, and Note 5. They all have their pros and cons. In the end, the s-pen is a game changer I cannot live without anymore. One day I hope someone makes a phone with everything I want! :-)

Watching this on my V20. This will be my next phone when the price drops next year. I would have loved an IR Blaster and sure 6GB of RAM, however overall this is the best phone for me.

This company needs to do a better job marketing, they produce underrated beasts! I'm currently using the V20 and I LOVE this phone. The only gripe I have is I wish it had the POLED screen. I will wait to see LG does with the V40 before I replace it. But the V30 is an awesome phone!
Awesome review! I have been looking for a new phone for a few months but decided I didn't want an iPhone or Samsung (which is what I have now) because I wanted to try something different. Just purchase the LG V30 and am so excited to start playing with it!!!
How do u deal with all the customization apps on the phones. It always drains my memory but I can't get rid of any
