This is the phone which comes closest to having every feature of a dream phone..
The only things extra I would add is it guaranteed to get updates quickly and the same removable battery / Back setup the v20 had so I could swap batteries myself
you don't need removable battery bro. There are so many power banks out there, just get one of these
Vishal menon is just missing a really good front facing camera
No removal battery means water resistant phone...so be smart
i disagree, i have the V20 and its so much more convenient just throwing in my fresh spare battery rather than lugging around a brick that's wired to my phone slowly charging it. removable battery ftw
I have a lot of respect for LG. I've always been hesitant to buy LG phones, because they've always had IPS displays. I'm still dubious about the quality of the P-OLED screen, but I love that while other manufacturers like Apple and [maybe] Google are killing consumer loyalty by taking away utility and raising price, LG is only concerned with giving consumers everything they should be getting for the price they're paying.
Preston Shewell which is why they released the G6 with last year's hardware right?
Ricky Jr. Nomura Barely. It's also a lot less expensive now than other phones are.
Frank Wong Just because something doesn't sell doesn't mean it isn't good. The G6 isn't perfect by any means; don't get me wrong. Besides, I'm talking about LG in general. I appreciate that they're always trying something new and different, even if it doesn't end up selling.
Well, I really prefer the LG G6 IPS screen compared to the AMOLEDS offered by Samsung due to a more accurated color’s representation, in my opinion..
LG is top notch making OLEDs panel with accurated colors, and I can see the V30 being superior in that aspect than the S8/NOTE 8.
Frank Wong samsung fanboy much? Agree with the OP, LG actually fill the gaps of Samsung target market.
Is it me or are Android Central's review videos just looking better and better over time? Great job Alex, this video is beautiful!
Peter Tucker visually they're pretty average. Content wise and In terms of length they're getting a lot better
ikr, kinda shocked that i wasnt following the channel before. Think some people got fired and they started doing quality again
This is by far the best v30 review. Nicely done, AC.
You're killing it with the video reviews, Alex. Thanks man.
This was a fantastic review. You've sold me, that's it im getting the v30. A no compromise and no BS phone with every feature you could ask for... Amazing
Well done LG
Deadeye I regret buying a G6. Is there a way to trade in a G6 for a V30?
Ren Gonzalez yeah I'd like to do that too
there's no way to trade-in supported by LG. If you want to trade the G6 for the V30, you'll have to check with your local teleco. - LG mobile Singapore
Pure Gold Review. Perfect device must say
Great job on the video, Alex. Looks like an amazing phone. I dont know who you guys hired to make your videoes, but they are looking crispy AF!
They probably use Final Cut :)
JTSX1 on there 2000 dollar Mac book lol
their. noob
Premium Gear DK One thing that his review could have at least mentioned was this is the first LG smartphone to support Daydream VR. If you are going to give a review, then check it out, or at least mention it.
AFAIK it's just Alex
It's a breath of fresh air to hear a well written review with good, proper journalistic style. Too many reviewers just don't know how to write elegantly.
Really great phone. Although I'm an owner of the G6, I'm going to buy the V30 when prices drop.
how is G^ going for you .. i plan on buying it... what do you recommend ? any lags or stutters or overheating issues ?
Abdullah Sulman all the phones overheat while you use em. More time =more overheat. You just buy a plastic case man. Jesus christ!!.
KrisFederer i own a v10 and it overheats like crazy after 5 min normal use .. dunno if its a defect or what.. the case almost melts 😂
Abdullah Sulman Had mine about 2 weeks. Really loving it. A bit thinner width wise from my Stylo(1). But heck of a phone.
Damn Sugar Lord u might as well just wait for the v40
V30 is the first LG phone in more than five years that I would really like to buy. Nice video tough.
All calling V30 looks like S8, forgetting G6 came before S8 and V30s a follow-up.
For a start the G6 looks different, and secondly the S8 and G6 would have been unveiled on the same day like the previous year, (G5 and S7), had Samsung not decided to delay to wait for 10nm. It really is ridiculous to claim that one was before the other. I have no doubt that these two companies aren't rivals like most people think, but were well aware what each other were doing a long time ago.
Tech Things try again dumbass.
but what he said is true, the G6 did come first.
Tech Things that's incorrect cause Samsung actually delayed their launch and mass produced the phone first.
hexlhieA Samsung always release their s series devices in Barcelona not new York. they delayed the launch to release it later in new York this year.... samsung always release their s series devices in February - March not April
For me the only thing missing is stereo speakers.
the thing with stereo speakers is that you can't really have water resistance, it's one or the other
BigMansCheez now that is not true, look at the HTC U11 or iPhone 7, which have stereo speakers and IP67, or the iPhone X with stereo speakers and IP68. The pixel 2 is supposed to have IP68 and stereo speakers as well
BigMansCheez if you can have water resistance with one speaker, you can with two...
My Sony Z3 is stall waterproof after all these years with stereo speakers. That's not the reason.
Right and I believe the pixel 2 is made by LG.
Best review of the V30, by far. An honest, objective and very polished video review. Definitely look out for more of this quality.
Best review for the V30 so far... i am getting this baby next week
I only wait for pixel 2 now..and then it's either v30 or pixel 2.
sid man I'm right there with you.
So do I. I would like to see the V30 with pure Android. Hope, the Pixel XL 2 will be this phone.
Robert Pospichal yep or better yet! 😃
This is already better due to Headphone jack+dack
What about Mate 10 Pro?
This is probably the most informative, accurate and neatly made review I've seen in a long time. Thanks!
Quality, thorough review. Thanks for this!
LGV30 Review. First frame is an S8.
I went for the Note 8 just because I got a $425 discount for being a previous Note 7 owner. If not I would of definitely got the LG V30. The footprint and weight are impressive for a phone packing a 6 inch OLED display. It basically checks all the boxes minus stereo speakers and ir blaster but those are just nit picks at this point. Best all arounder in my opinion.
$425 discount?! Wow, Samsung were really generous with Note 7 owners👏
If the Pixel 2s ditch the 3.5mm jack, then my decision will become super simple.
LG is making the Pixel 2
Shawn Croft it still won't have the jack.
@Shawn Croft - HTC is making the Pixel 2, LG is making the Pixel 2 XL
Daniel Ornelas It will
The price already made me decided not to buy it
First device licensed for T-Mobile's new 600mhz LTE network also.
Chad Stolarick if only they packed it with 6gb of ram....
john doe you don't need 6GB of ram.
ezar howard you do
More RAM is nice to have. Say you play Pokemon GO; but check your emails, watch a video, look something it, browse some social media, and send some messages. Maybe take a picture or two. You then switch back to Pokemon GO (or your 'heavy application of choice) and it has to reload/restart because it's been kicked out of memory.
I think I'd love to have this phone, but I really want to see what the pixel 2 brings to the table next month..
Think this is going to be my next phone LG smashed it with this one it's well better than the Samsung and iPhone.
Gavin Mufc lee I agree, mine too.
Gavin Mufc lee iphone? Please don't even bring that toy shit phone into the argument.
Gavin Mufc lee LG always been better than their competitors
Gavin Mufc lee yes. I'm also waiting on pixel XL 2 before I pull the trigger
Cupillac absolutely. everyone should wait until the Pixel 2 is out if they're thinking of buying a new flagship phone right now. If the rumors are true about the Pixel 2 not having a headphone jack, then they sold out and I'm coppin the V30 without a doubt. still gotta wait to make sure tho.
Basically if you took the good stuff from a G6 and the good stuff from an S8+ and got rid of the bad stuff you're left with a V30. Awesome phone.
mann!!!ARGUABLY THE BEST review of the phone. very useful, very informatic and detailed... KEEP IT UP AC!!
Very well put together review. Thanks alot of the content man. So hyped for the v30
In my opinion lg v30 is almost the perfect phone for me, just few things are missing for ex. Dual speakers, IR blaster. I really impressed from LG right now, I have the lg g5 and the v30 is just the opposite of it.
Say goodbye to the removable battery.
Ohad Look into the LeEco Pro 3, it has an IR blaster and FM radio. Just got one, it's blazing fast and can be had for around $200. Best deal going.
duronboy2 all the new phones by this time comes with no removable battery, so deal with it.
You must forget removable battery to have waterproof phone
Ohad galaxy s5 thinks diferent
The V30 is sick. I almost don't want to give up my V20 to get it. LG is on fire
Just waiting again on LG for pricing and release dates. 🙄🙄🙄 But my next phone none the less.
I've read from multiple sources that prices will start at $750
Busterpeek21 that would be right on point.
The price for the lg v30 is $849
Definitely the phone I've got my eyes on. All this time I've just been waiting for LG to get the oled screen right, and so far this is looking like the way to go.
Great review. I can't wait to upgrade my LG V20 to this one!!
This is how I like the reviews, you can hear the guy clearly and the music is not taking over the review. lots of other reviewers need to keep the soundtrack down. we are hear to know the specifications of the device not to listen to your music taste.
The video quality are so so gooood. Finally can enjoy up close to the phone. Most of the video about v30 out there, youtuber's face in the view more than the phone.
Super phone .. and grt review!! Jus need to get the marketing right n it'l rock.. therez no better phone for content creation than this beast!! period
Awesome Video! I really liked the small pauses in between the different sections. Makes the video more relaxed and enjoyable!
Why is the V30 being compared to the G6 throughout most of the video instead of the V20?
Love the review you've earned a new subscriber mate...👌
I was waiting for this phone but wound up with the note only because of a bunch of incentives to cut into the price. This v30 is the best of 2017 so far....
Great video,
Loved the ending
Probably my next phone, coming from the now over 2 year old HTC One M8s. It served me well but it's time for more memory and a better camera. The V30 is the first phone in a while that has a truly functional design, without gimmicky features that I'm not going to use.
Been waiting for this review!
ive had all the v series phones from lg ,the v10 , v20, and now the v30 and all i can say is its come a long way from the v10 ...the battery life is amazing ..screen is amazing, camara is awesome, just an all around beautiful phone ..recommend to anyone
Im so in love with that wide angle lens.. Than telephoto
Very good review! True, fair, unbiased... great job, Alex!
I have always had faith in lg phones I have never had different I stuck to that company and stayed can't wait for V30
Only minor issues... (still buying the phone) front camera is just okay, and the earphone jack should be on the bottom instead of the top. Other than that, phone is just amazing.
XDa-NinjaX me too , no matter what
Superb Video .. I can't wait to get my hands on the LG v30 it's just taking too long .it becomes silly .
Great Review Alex, you're one of the best.
Waiting until the Pixel 2 is out before making a decision, but LG definitely took the crown for best smartphone in the game for now.
Me too!.....Release of Pixel2 will decide the real winner
Great video! Looks like the ultimate smartphone in 2017 I think I'm going for this one.
top top job LG ...well done....love V30 !!!!!
Great review Alex, LG V30 is definitely my next phone.
same here!
James Raeburn same. And fuck galaxy
Which camera is better in 4k video shooting
Damn, the v30 is so sick. If I hadn't already have gotten the s8+ I would definitely get this.
Sadly the mainstream consumer still think LG is just a cheap and quality lacking copycat from Samsung. It keeps the price below the Samsung and Apple devices out there so that's a good thing but as a long time LG fan i'd like to see them getting the recognition they deserve
The V30 name seems to be synonymous to success whether in automotive or mobile phones
great job LG. The LG v30 is almost perfect!
Excellent review, much appreciated.
That being said, I'm surprised the reviewer didn't mention how bad the front camera is, as it's truly terrible. The images look like they were shot using a phone circa 2007. So, if selfies, Snapchat, or live videos are a part of your everyday use, you might wanna to consider another phone. Otherwise, LG produced an awesome device.
*The best smartphone out there right now.*
GREAT phone and awesome review, you just got one thing wrong, the S8+ is actually 2mm narrower than the V30 while having the same display width because of its almost non-existent bezels compared to the side bezels of the V30 that match those found on my 4-years-ahead-of-its-time G2.
I feel like this V30 is the true successor to the G2 and is the first device in those 4 years that is making me truly thinking about upgrading.
Aside from some color grading quirks and shaky handheld camera, this video is pretty much the gold standard for how to review a smartphone. Appreciate the effort that went into making such a long and detailed video as well as the decision to actually make a lengthy video in age of short, pointless content for ADHD addled teenagers.
As a side note, I am disappointed this phone exhibits the OLED black crush that is also present on the Pixel. This used to be an issue with older Samsung phones but I'm glad they got their act together now. It seems LG still has some ways to go before it can compete with Samsung in terms of display quality.
Great Job Alex. Excellent review.
Once the V30+ version is out I will definitely upgrade to one
Great review. One question regarding the phone that I don't think you covered. How is the call quality, with and without headphones? I had a horrible transmission/reception audio issue (chronic garbled unintelligible audio in good coverage areas) with the G3 that was later (much later) resolved with a software update push; but I went several months until that was resolved and it scared me away from the LG brand. It is a phone after all. Though for many, the phone is just a seldom-used app today. Also my G3 would get uncomfortably hot at times and would freeze, etc. particularly with heavy camera/video use. None of those issues here it sounds like with the V30?
Okay I gotta say, fantastic video. Very nicely reviewed.
I just got the iPhone 8...im debating to switching to the v30... Looks so sexy...
I'm using a v20. Should I upgrade?
Great detailed review.
Alex is a polished pro.
Great video! Love the high quality! With the Pixel 2 likely to not have water resistance or wireless charging, this will be the replacement for my Galaxy S8+.
Hi Alex, great job on the video! just wondering if there will be different variants for UK/Europe, US and Asia like Samsung does? Or if US release would be pretty much the same as UK ones later in the year?
I really enjoyed this video. The demos of the camera features were informative. He wouldn't make vague comments such as "the phone should last all day" instead he'd state how many hours of screen on time to expect. My only criticism is that 13:36 minutes is a bit long for a review of a phone. Either way I subscribed and hopefully the other videos are as well thought out as this one!!!
Been burned twice by bootloop issues on LG phones... but this phone makes me want to try LG again...
Great Video +AndroidCentral. Good Work. Keep it Up. I'll buy one when it'll launch in India.
Probably the best phone for 2017/18...One most important Huge feature on the V30 is the battery that last a long time..
Am i the only one who loved lg g flex 2 and want lg to make another one.... I can guarantee you with that type of curve and today's display tech, that would the most unique phone ever....
2 things....What about the selfie cam? And how does its cameras compare to the note 8?
I still like a lot of what my LG G4 offers but it is getting ready for replacement, even with a new genuine battery recent updates mean I have to top it up if I do much web browsing but the camera is still a good one... The V30 will be my next phone.
Really a honest and easy-to-understand review. 👍
Which lut did you used for the color grading? Awesome and splendid review tho bought it in 2019 for 200$ gotta say its worth it
great review, but how well does lg keep their phones up to date?
Great review Alex!
No mention of the front facing camera??
watching on my LG V20 , and I'll stick with my V20
but I have to admitted V30 screen is gorgeous
The front camera and speaker placements are kinda the only letdowns. Not bad at all
looking to get a new phone around December/January...So far the LG V30 is at the top of my list, but I'm still waiting to see what the Pixel 2 and Mate 10 bring to the table.
Do you have to use the fingerprint scanner or is there an alternate way to activate the phone?
Do audio interfaces(for xlr mics) work with the v30 through the usb-c port?
Gorgeous phone 💖
is the video shooting a bit wobbly? around 8 minutes
Will it have burn in and will software be better over long term use?? Past lg phones have had problems and I'm not sure if I should get the v30 or not!
Does the LG V30 able to to do split screen with more apps now?
Excellent review as always 👍👍
Excellent vid. Wonder how the price will hold..
Im all about headphone audio, how would this compare to a htc10?
How are social media apps, like snapchat and Instagram? How does the quality of the camera do on those apps?
How much charge do u loose if left overnight with ''always on display'' disabled?
Awesome review, great job!!!
Why isn't Cine Log available in the wide angel lens? What if your creating a project that has wide angel and standard footage in it? Why can't one save Cine Log when using the wide angel lens? It is just stupid that it is left out with that lens.
