I love how Wolfyy7 says he talked to someone from Nintendo that said games like AM2R and Pokemon Uranium were people trying to make a quick few million dollars for themselves... when the games were released... for free. Then goes on to say he was praised for being so honest, and that Nintendo would reconsider. What fantasy world does he live in that he thinks that anyone would believe this bollocks?
He also claims that the games were made in secret. I don't know about those two Pokemon games, but AM2R's development was known for years before its full release.
He actually did get Nintendo to reconsider. For real. He sent them the brown-butter haddock recipe for free and that was all she wrote. Super Mario RPG 2 is in the works, with Square Enix leading it. They're also going to release it for free and not for millions of dollars like those scummy AM2R and Pokemon hacks. /s
I suppose Nintendo believes projects like AM2R were funded by people, when in reality, Doc never took any money, not even donations. Everyone working on the project was purely volunteer based, and if Doc had to commission anyone, he paid out of his own pocket, not with anyone else's money. That's the difference. wolfy's got shut down quickly because he was charging money for support. That shit's shady, and Nintendo is all about protecting their IPs and customers (all stems from the crash of '83) from potential scammers like this one. Unfortunately this kind of black and white mentality does hurt nintendo to some degree because they could utilize people like Doc for their company. Dedicated fans who do pay attention to the series lore should be welcomed in, while also learning to conform to industry expectations. But, instead, they don't and try to cover it up.

So, let me get this straight. The first guy is reproducing old, illegal multicarts from the 80s/90s? I guess that's somewhat interesting actually. I'd prefer to own the originals though.
@ MagikGimp: He was trying to sell Abandonware, albeit in hardware cartridges. Abandonware belongs to no one, and it also belongs to everyone (i.e., a [software, digital] copy for anyone interested, completely free of any monetary charge). Yes, that's not just wrong, it's illegal (AFAIK). You can only sell what is yours, not what is not yours-- you can't sell what is not yours to sell, such as Abandonware, added new hard-copy carts, not withstanding.
For number 3, it's important to look at this from a different cultural perspective. Japan has, without a doubt, the largest mobile gaming market in the world, to the point where mobile games are actually eclipsing traditional console games in both sales and development. It's the reason why a lot of games companies in Japan have just about dropped console games in order to focus on the mobile market (or for certain other companies, the pachinko market. _coughcoughKonamicough_ ). So the existence of the Pico Cassette becomes a lot less strange if you look at it from that point of view. It also highlights the problems with this shift in the industry, since mobile devices are changing and updating faster than consoles ever did, and what works fine one day might become obsolete come the dawn of the next.
TPoseCulture : Also, PicoCassette could indeed store data too, as the mic on the 4 conductor plugs (trrs) would provide cassette -> phone, while the two headphone channels would provide phone -> cassette. Beware that a battery is needed in the cassette, and an app on the phone. Those "square" style cellphone credit card systems are somewhat similar.
Ahahahaha, so that's why it seems so strange; it's brought to us by the same country responsible for Neon Genesis... seriously, though, am I gonna still be able to attach my headphones?
Hey! I was a backer of Pico Cassette! I even made a video explaining the set up way back when. Had it actually taken off, mighta been cool! I did get my money back though.
huh. not completely sure why you wouldn't use emulators, but i see why you would want this. although hearing about how the i phone 7 ruined it made me laugh my ass off
I actually wanted to see if anyone explained the appeal for japanese people down in the comments but I guess I'll do it here Emulation in japan has a bit of a stigma we in the west would consider "an incredibly stupid thing to get annoyed about" and it isn't the one you think it is: it's simply, japanese audiences like physical versions of stuff, they think owning a physical version of something is actually part of experiencing that thing and only recently have digital goods really taken off there. I have no idea why but I assume it's a status thing, "how much do you own?" The physical thing such as a disk or album functions as a sort of trophy. In the west, we abandoned this attitude in the 50s but it's still alive over there. It's also why it's damn near impossible to find digital music albums for games in japan, they're always physical imports, and for people who don't feel like paying $200 for that shit, you gotta pirate. Makes me kinda angry. Anyway there you go, that's why japan would see value in this. Because of course they're 60 years behind everyone else.

I'm not weighing in on whether Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi can be considered sequels to SMRPG. I'm just criticising the poor syntax in the title card.
Gnarleston Gnu A sentence can be tautological. 'Tautology' has many definitions, one of which is a grammar term for saying the same thing twice over in different words (e.g. they arrived one after the other in succession).
The Super Mario RPG 2 guy has stellar English skills. “natzi” “eemotionally” “then to have” “devouting” “While I doubt I won’t be an expert” “extremly” “profession sprite artists” “every SMRPG fan wants to see is” “I want fans to be apart of the game development” The guy’s biggest crime, however, is his almost Norman Boutin-esque energy in defending “his” “work”. What next? Is Mario a good girl who is loved by everyone and given superpowers by aliens?
Aaaaaaam I the only one who got mildly irritated when the last guy said that AM2R was a Super Metroid sequel? Cos it isn't. It's simply a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus with Super Metroid style graphics (as far as I'm aware at least, I haven't actually played the thing but I know quite a bit about it)
4. Bootlegs will never be official 3. Cue forever alone 2. Can't they make them samsung exclusive? 1. After hearing about Nintendo's own Metroid 2 remake after AM2R went down the river, this campaign is probably gonna give Nintendo ideas to make a real SMRPG 2.
I know I'm almost a year late, but. SMRPG2 is never going to happen, it would have to be made by Nintendo and Square Enix became Square held rights to certain assets in the original
I have to really hold myself back to keep from going on an entirely too long binge of Larry Bundy Jr. (and guests') videos . . . Is this what it's like to be on drugs?
I saw this Super Mario RPG 2 on kickstarter. I laughed for a good while after reading the project creators comments to people telling him he can't do this.
12:18 Loved that shoutout to ICU Games! Ohh Avi, this campaign actually could be detrimental to a possible sequel, this is an instance where it would just have been better not to try at all! OR just share your story with the right people.
There are people who liked the Twilight movies. And I liked Batman Vs. Superman. :x As for Sonic Underground, I only watched one episode but I liked what I saw... Oh wait here's a better one: there probably are people who liked The Nutshack
linkedin "followers"? Linkedin "connections" are supposed to be people you actually "know", at least in passing from the real world and job connections. The entire point is to have actual contacts that you can use to find jobs and/or obtain endorsement from. it's a lot like an online job resume that just happens to be social media connected to other people in the job market having a bunch of random strangers on your connections list is of no use to you, you won't be able to use them as job references
I felt like while it was a cool idea in the beginning, the monster that eventually became known as the Coleco Chameleon ended up being a travesty headlined by someone who just didn't quite have his head in the game. From what I had read once (don't kill me if this is incorrect though) the demo units they showed off were just guts from a SNES encased in a Jaguar mold.
THANK YOU, you are the first youtuber I've come across where you dont just put ads randomly in your video and it's just abruptly cuts to a ad. You sir just earned a subscriber and will watch all your ads.
I don't know Larry, I don't want to kick you, I think you're a cool dude, you make interesting videos, you haven't done anything wrong (as far as I know), you haven't done anything to me. Why should I kick you?
Just, merely the simple premise that slapping "unofficial" onto something would magically cause Nintendo to be cool with releasing Mario as its intellectual property. As if that was going to work.
It would be really great if you had to sign a contract on every crowdfunding platform that had something like this along the lines: "If the product is intentionally overpriced, a scam, or virtually impossible the owner of the campaign is fined to twice the goal or the actual reached funding - which ever is higher".
To be fair, as clueless as the creator of Ouya was, at least the Ouya actually managed to SUCCEED at getting any farther than the kickstarter campaign. The only one on this list with any sort of success was the pico cassette, and even that only got as far as showing up at a expo.
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH The guy wanted to make a Super Mario RPG sequel that was as good as the original, within a year, for $10,000 by hiring people on Fiverr! You can't make that shit up xD
From what I see, the Pico project doesn't seems to be made by a moron. This is just a project that looked good on paper but involving serious mistakes, bad luck and no actual explanation about the technology used. But yeah, I completely agree about the others ones (specially the SORG one).
I remember back in the day commercials would suggest that for the price of a cup if coffee, you could feed a starving child for a week. Here I find out that instead people spend that money to follow campaigns on Kickstarter just to watch them fail. Actually makes me feel bad.
For the record I was intoxicated when i set up the Sonic Underground Kickstarter and completely forgot about it until i heard my name at the beginning of this video
I remember being called a troll when making a comment on a youtube comment advertising the SMRPG2 campaign after saying "I don't see this lasting long."
I am a big fan of Larry but when a person with a large fanbase 'punches down' at people with very small followings, the feel of the videos suffers. I like LBJ and others here because they 'punch up' at bad developers, game jornos, etc, reviewers, etc. But, hey, some people are just asking for it I suppose.
*Whew!* So glad you guys decided to stop at four so that you didn't have to feature the crowd funding campaigns I've done! See, I knew Larry Bundy actually liked me! Thanks for sparing me from the public shame!
Kickstarter just needs a giant message in flashing letters to pop up whenever somone attempts a campaign that says "YOU CANNOT USE OTHER PEOPLE'S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!" What part of that is so hard for people to understand?
That Sonic Underground campaign is only offering £4000 worth of rewards when they have a goal of £500,000. So they were banking on the other £496,000 worth of backing essentially being donations by people who were okay with getting nothing.
This thumbnail is giving me second thoughts about watching this, even though I love your other videos. I feel like Steve Urkel is going to come out next and introduce the TGIF lineup.

Most people consider Paper Mario SMRPG2. Or at least, that SMRPG and subsequent Mario rpgs are a part of a larger Mario RPG series.
I'm not weighing in on whether Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi can be considered sequels to SMRPG. I'm just criticising the poor syntax in the title card.
thats not what a tautology is. only an argument can be tautological.
I mean, if we're going by Square Enix numbering, we could get a 2-2, or a 2-3. Or a II.47 Remix.
Gnarleston Gnu A sentence can be tautological. 'Tautology' has many definitions, one of which is a grammar term for saying the same thing twice over in different words (e.g. they arrived one after the other in succession).
Okay. Where do you want me to land the kick?
Swift kick to the bollocks
The Super Mario RPG 2 guy has stellar English skills.
“natzi”
“eemotionally”
“then to have”
“devouting”
“While I doubt I won’t be an expert”
“extremly”
“profession sprite artists”
“every SMRPG fan wants to see is”
“I want fans to be apart of the game development”
The guy’s biggest crime, however, is his almost Norman Boutin-esque energy in defending “his” “work”. What next? Is Mario a good girl who is loved by everyone and given superpowers by aliens?
Aaaaaaam I the only one who got mildly irritated when the last guy said that AM2R was a Super Metroid sequel? Cos it isn't. It's simply a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus with Super Metroid style graphics (as far as I'm aware at least, I haven't actually played the thing but I know quite a bit about it)
It is exactly that. AM2R is an amazing game though. I played it, and I would even speedrun it if I had the patience to do so. It's that good. :3
It's not a Super Metroid sequel, but it did feel like it. It felt like someone injected Super Metroid into Metroid 2.
yes! thank you Stephen Bowes
Anyone here played Super Zero Mission?
This series is just amazing. Thank god so many people provide so much ammo for you to keep it alive and well for years to come!
lol, thanks! yeah, theres literally years of material out there and i doubt itll ever end!
I love all your videos, and I love seeing your comments on so many random videos as well.
Thanks bud :)
I mean you're literally on every video I watch...
@@AnarchiacTV Larry's even made it to Jago Hazzard's channel, and Jago doesn't talk about video games :)
I totally misread the title and clicked on it like "Heck yeah! Mormon Kickstarters!"
That would've been hilarious!
Hahaha the cats like no one wants to buy your re-pros.
4. Bootlegs will never be official
3. Cue forever alone
Nintendo can't make a SMRPG srwyel without the permission of Square Enix who helped with the development and hold the rights.
You know it's a dan video when there isn't a completely obvious peter moleneux joke in it
Yogscast.
We did an entire video dedicated to their Kickstarter :)
I have to really hold myself back to keep from going on an entirely too long binge of Larry Bundy Jr. (and guests') videos . . . Is this what it's like to be on drugs?
Ha, sorry about that dude :D
Hehe, you're a swell guy!
I like the idea of the 3rd one, but it's way overpriced and you can just emulate them for free.
I love the series "Kick larry" I hope there will be more in the future :P
I saw this Super Mario RPG 2 on kickstarter. I laughed for a good while after reading the project creators comments to people telling him he can't do this.
No, don't kick Larry!
This would be a great showtime to hook these people up with the famous Kickstarter Crap series on here.
I've always wondered why these videos go up on this channel too if they're not by Larry. Not a complaint, though.
Majextic yeah i had a deja vu moment
Ikr
To promote the other channel kinda of obvious really.
Dan Ibbertson edits Larry's videos, I think. I suppose they have some sort of agreement for Larry to help Dan get promotion/recognition.
Among other reasons, they fill a week Larry doesn't have content for.
Im starting a crowd funding campaign to free the first guys cat.
I guess I'll take this opportunity to garner support for the TOME kickstarter. It's pretty cool and run by a good dude.
Oh, sweet! I didn't know he was kickstarting. I liked the first few episodes, if I wasn't broke as fuck I'd probably throw some money his way.
12:18 Loved that shoutout to ICU Games! Ohh Avi, this campaign actually could be detrimental to a possible sequel, this is an instance where it would just have been better not to try at all! OR just share your story with the right people.
People liked Sonic Underground? I thought most people loathed it.
Some people liked Sonic 06.
There are people who like games which are critically and popularly loathed. I liked Mighty No. 9, for instance. We all have bad taste to a degree…
There are people who liked the Twilight movies.
And I liked Batman Vs. Superman. :x
As for Sonic Underground, I only watched one episode but I liked what I saw...
Oh wait here's a better one: there probably are people who liked The Nutshack
I liked Sonic Underground. The only thing I didn't like about it was the lack of Tails.
Underground isn't all that bad a show, it has its fans, just sort of a diet version of the other Sonic cartoon from around that time.
linkedin "followers"? Linkedin "connections" are supposed to be people you actually "know", at least in passing from the real world and job connections. The entire point is to have actual contacts that you can use to find jobs and/or obtain endorsement from. it's a lot like an online job resume that just happens to be social media connected to other people in the job market
having a bunch of random strangers on your connections list is of no use to you, you won't be able to use them as job references
That dude's cat was the real star of this video
He's the only one who had any real sense.
Soujaboy stole the first dudes idea lmao
And he still failed lol
THANK YOU, you are the first youtuber I've come across where you dont just put ads randomly in your video and it's just abruptly cuts to a ad. You sir just earned a subscriber and will watch all your ads.
Aw, thanking you kindly. Yeah I try to put them in places that ads should be. I find them annoying spammed everywhere.
I don't know Larry, I don't want to kick you, I think you're a cool dude, you make interesting videos, you haven't done anything wrong (as far as I know), you haven't done anything to me. Why should I kick you?
go0n because the notification said so
larry is a god amongst men...he can have 20 minute videos with only 1 ad
Amazed you still haven't covered Unsung Story in one of these videos
Just, merely the simple premise that slapping "unofficial" onto something would magically cause Nintendo to be cool with releasing Mario as its intellectual property. As if that was going to work.
Give Dan my regards Larry. This is a pretty good video.
Will do :)
Tell him to Buy Custard Creams while you're at it.
The first one could just open a kickstarter to host a video series about his cat knocking his stuff down and it definitely would attract more backers.
Kick Larry
It would be really great if you had to sign a contract on every crowdfunding platform that had something like this along the lines:
"If the product is intentionally overpriced, a scam, or virtually impossible the owner of the campaign is fined to twice the goal or the actual reached funding - which ever is higher".
Jokes on Samual. Underground already has a season 2
suroguner yo, Samual here, i made that kickstarter whilst drunk and was unaware of any second season having been produced
“Oh you like your money? Why don’t I take that off your hands so it’s safe”
**Runs off with wallet in hand**
-Shitty Kickstarter campaign #42
Awww, I was expecting the Ouya to make this list.
... Also the Metroid 2 remake was good.
To be fair, as clueless as the creator of Ouya was, at least the Ouya actually managed to SUCCEED at getting any farther than the kickstarter campaign.
The only one on this list with any sort of success was the pico cassette, and even that only got as far as showing up at a expo.
Hiring people on Fiverr to make a product for you; the Dark Souls of development.
Kick me, Larry.
Shout outs to the cat for being so adorable and having to deal with that guy as a master.
Feel bad for the first guy. Probably just trying to make money.
It looks like he's being held hostage or something.
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
The guy wanted to make a Super Mario RPG sequel that was as good as the original, within a year, for $10,000 by hiring people on Fiverr!
You can't make that shit up xD
That last one, is that the same guy behind Undertale 2?
What?
*+X0xplanetkillerx0X* Wait, *WHAT?* Now am curious. Tell the tale, please.
Wow... The retro guy didn’t even have the decency of EDITING OUT HIS CAT OWNING HIS ASS! 😂 How pitiful.
I mean if it was a live stream then it would be okay but this was something he would have had time to start over.
From what I see, the Pico project doesn't seems to be made by a moron. This is just a project that looked good on paper but involving serious mistakes, bad luck and no actual explanation about the technology used.
But yeah, I completely agree about the others ones (specially the SORG one).
6:45 "Not to be confused with the obsolete medium, Picocassette..."
*shows a Sony NT cassette*
Kick larry?
kick larry
Kick larry
**groan** Not Barry, I'm the Tick
**Arthur facepalms**
I remember back in the day commercials would suggest that for the price of a cup if coffee, you could feed a starving child for a week. Here I find out that instead people spend that money to follow campaigns on Kickstarter just to watch them fail. Actually makes me feel bad.
Wow iDubbbzTV sounds very different
Omg when that MvC2 music popped up. My heart, Larry/Daniel . My heart can only handle so much..
Changed the music, thank god, it was so fucking bad
I'm gonna take you for a ride
I'm gonna take you for a ride.
I'm gonna take you for a ride.
IM GONNA TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE
take ride a you gonna I'm for
You can kick larry for that
Thanks for the update on SMRPG2. I looked at it on the first day and laughed and forgot about it. The comments section was fun to read through.
Yeah, that tiny cassette, it ain't a Picocassette, it's a Sony NT - I believe from Techmoan's video on the subject.
That headphone cartride were you have to gimmicky blow in to start up a famicom game on your iphone or android device was an awesome concept.
The first guy is the beta male version of filthy Frank.
you could say he is a bootleg of filthy frank
For the record I was intoxicated when i set up the Sonic Underground Kickstarter and completely forgot about it until i heard my name at the beginning of this video
kick larry
There was evidence Avi Wolfson was impersonating/stealing the identity of another individual as well lmao.
If CCG is card collectible game, is a TCG a trading collectible game?
Steam-Powered Fox You're close, CCG is Card Collector Game, TCG is Trading Card Game. Good guess though.
CCG is collectable card game
I remember being called a troll when making a comment on a youtube comment advertising the SMRPG2 campaign after saying "I don't see this lasting long."
Finally, another episode!!! If only my internet would stop lagging...
And this is why I NEVER put money into Kickstarter, I don't give a damn what for either.
Idubbbz copycat.
Why do the ads keep trying to sell me whisky and wine? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY!!?
*Whew!* So glad you guys decided to stop at four so that you didn't have to feature the crowd funding campaigns I've done! See, I knew Larry Bundy actually liked me! Thanks for sparing me from the public shame!
Kickstarter just needs a giant message in flashing letters to pop up whenever somone attempts a campaign that says "YOU CANNOT USE OTHER PEOPLE'S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!"
What part of that is so hard for people to understand?
That Sonic Underground campaign is only offering £4000 worth of rewards when they have a goal of £500,000. So they were banking on the other £496,000 worth of backing essentially being donations by people who were okay with getting nothing.
His cat is desperately trying to stop him from embarrassing himself further.
I had forgotten you used one of the unused/unknown tracks from Bram Stoker's Dracula as a separator and I'm overjoyed to see it again.
This thumbnail is giving me second thoughts about watching this, even though I love your other videos. I feel like Steve Urkel is going to come out next and introduce the TGIF lineup.
Was happy to see you in the new Ashens books Larry!
