    The lap joint quarter panel replacement on the Camaro is inexcusably bad and very unfortunate. It's the kind of Mickey Mouse stuff you see when a car is fixed at a collision repair shop rather than a proper restoration shop. Even without that flaw, the Camaro would not be worth anywhere near what the owner first thought. With modern cylinder heads it's not even an accurate ZL1 clone.

      I would not give more than 35k for it. Would need roadster shop spec chassis, wheels, tyres, brakes, etc. to make it a drivers car. And there is the body work...the fender to door gape is insane

    That poor guy got hosed. A riveted, bondo'd lap-joint quarter panel installation is a backyard hack repair. In a year the paint will be bubbling all along that seam. And if they did such a crap job on that, I wouldn't trust the rest of the car either.✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦

    A car or anything for that matter is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. This gentleman's ZL-1 clone although clean, is hardly what a genuine one's worth. Colin should definitely know as he states, he had one. Besides the trunk/qtr.pnl. issue, that driver's side door gap looks off!
    The Porsche is another matter, alterations & modifications don't seem to matter much to buyers. This one's a definite 'Cannonball Run' vehicle.👍

    • @ZeGermanHam
      @ZeGermanHam 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. He didn't strike me as being super well informed, which means there is a good chance he overpaid by a wide margin. Also kinda strange that he initially referred to his car as a Camaro ZL1, and not a ZL1 clone. When talking about a car as unique as the ZL1, one should never try to pass a clone off as genuine even in casual conversation.

    Really the VIN number tells you i6 or V8 on all 67-69 Camaros. However, X-codes in 69 and 4X codes in 67 can tell you on a trim tag which V8 it had. X-codes weren't even on LOS build cars in 69, so to say the trim tag is how you tell if it had a V8 is a bit misleading.

    As much as I love a nice Camaro, I can't support that owner's price estimation for a ZL1 Clone, especially with the half-assed quarter panel job and modern-based motor. I also love to see period modifications still intact like on that Porsche 930 Turbo, amazing.

      Same. Fender to door gap is bad and doesn't not match rear. That quarter problem is MAJOR!!!!!! Like almost, you'd be ripping someone off if you didn't tell them about that. Pop rivet or not, they should NOT be overlapped. and if it's a big dollar car, nothing but full OEM, NOS quarter should be used.

    Colin this episode should have been MUCH LONGER. You could've spent a minimum of a half hour on that 930.
    That car is fantastic & the owner is a true driver. It'd be nice to see Magnus Walker do a video on that car.
    If the owner has multiple 911's, speak to Magnus & put him in touch with the owner.
    I'm sure Magnus could make an hour long video with him. PORSCHE 💜💜💜💜💜😍🤩
    And I'll refrain from railing about that Camaro, other than to say, I feel bad for the owner & hopefully he didn't get ripped off when he bought it. IMHO $60k maximum 😢

    Can anyone tell me why the dials are rotated in these old P cars? Most of them seem to be

    • @ZeGermanHam
      @ZeGermanHam 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's a practice lifted from the race car community. The idea is that you rotate the tachometer so that the needle points straight up & down at 12 o'clock when you're at your max shift RPM. Not really sure why you'd bother to rotate the speedometer as seen here, though, as nobody uses a speedo when racing. It might just be because the steering wheel partially blocks the view of the speedo and rotating it allows the driver to see it better.

    • @jareknowak8712
      @jareknowak8712 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Afaik, its for long high speed runs, like cannonball, where the average speed range should be in the most visible zone.

    • @derherr65
      @derherr65 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Close guys, but not quite there. It is an old race car practice. All dials were set so normal operating range would be straight up so the driver could identify any issue with a momentary glance at the panel rather than having to read each dial. Any dial not pointing straight up stands out as the problem instantly. I've also seen semis set up similarly, again for easy monitoring and instant trouble shooting.

    • @ZeGermanHam
      @ZeGermanHam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, that's basically what I said with regard to the tachometer. And I'll reiterate that race cars do not typically have speedometers.
