  • On this episode of The Appraiser, it's jocks of the Class of 1969 as Colin Comer appraises a COPO 427 Camaro that’s so nice they named it twice and a shabby chic Mach 1 that has been upgraded into a true road warrior. The COPO has been with the owner since NEW, will Colin’s appraisal convince him to let it go? The Mach 1 has also been with its owner a lot of years and a lot of miles, but now the owner's son also shares time behind the wheel. Will it get passed down in the family or traded in for something newer? As always Colin has the answer to both of these questions.
    So, watch along as Colin digs in to arrive at a value for both cars and shares them with us-and the owners. Will they agree with him? Will you? Sound off in the comments section and let us know!

On & Tuned.. oh yeah he’s JUST AN APPRISER .. & Were Not Comparing Cars Were Just Looking At Them… that’s what I like about it it doesn’t have to make any sense whatsoever he just asked to talk about cars and that’s awesome never mind the Camaro is worth $500,000 or so and the Mustang is worth maybe 10,000 but really it’s a good appraisal? No if the Mustang was an all original 1969 It would at least be nice oh wait it is nice just the way it is all hacked up people make me laugh how about you

    Most people that have heard of COPO think all COPOs are special but the reality is most COPOs were used to build company fleet cars with possibly a special paint color to match the company logo, or to build taxis or other municipal vehicles. But there are a few special COPO, like this one. And two of my favorites COPOs were 9010 and 9738. Let’s see if anyone knows those two.

    Awesome cars to cover. I'm a huge Ford fan and grown up in a Ford family. But added note to the COPO Camaro, late 60's had several dealers in to high performance, Grand Spalding, Nikey, etc. Today they are all gone, except Berger Chevrolet. Still family owned, still at 2525 28th st Grand Rapids, Michigan. They're still in to High performance. Awesome dealer. When the new Camaro came out in 2010 they restarted the prescribed power program.

    Although I'm NOT a GM or Chevy fan, given the facts of that Camaro's extreme rarity & most importantly it's a ONE OWNER car, I'd put it's value $500k minimum & if it were to go to auction, like Barrett-Jackson which is happening now, wouldn't surprise me to see it bring a million dollars.
    As for the 69 Mustang, that car should never be sold for the sole fact, it'll always be that young man's connection to his Dad.

      @@donaldleavy4379 Save your pissy remarks for the kiddies.
      I spent 32 years in the car business & have forgotten more car stuff than most who consider themselves "car people" will ever know.
      And that's on top of having owned and/or driven every brand of car made, short of Koeneigsegg & Dallara.
      But back to my point, when I was doing repo in the mid 90's, we'd take cars to auction & I'd see $50k vehicles sell for $3k & $1000 vehicles sell for $12k.
      A car/truck is "worth" whatever a person's willing to pay. PERIOD.
      Also while I'm at it, a few months ago, I met a guy from San Diego who drove across the country to buy what was left of a 1969 Mustang SCJ 428 Drag Pack, for $12,000.
      It'd been sitting in a field for decades & really all that was left was the shell, from the firewall back.
      Was rusty as hell, of course. No motor or driveline. He was going to drop it off @ a Mustang restoration specialist in Arizona or Oklahoma on his way home @ a cost of at least $100k
      But he didn't care how much it cost, because he felt it was a significant car that was important to be saved.
      And just think, he could've bought a fully restored, numbers matching 428 SCJ Drag Pack car for less than $80k.
      And in closing, I've either owned or driven EVERY model of Mustang since 1964.
      I grew up on GM cars, mostly Oldsmobiles & that's what made me a Ford person.

    these guys have driven the price of these cars so high that no one can own one ,not your average hot rodder that would love to own a piece of history ,only the super rich or the COLLECTOR ,that has bottomless cash can own these cars ,just saying ,i have a couple that my son will get to enjoy when hes older .love those old muscle cars .....

    That looks just like David Friebergers Mustang, The Disgustang, which I thought it was, and why I clicked. I bet this kid talked his dad into those wheels after he saw them on roadkill.

    • @colincomer4566
      @colincomer4566 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the dad put those wheels on years ago, long before DF had the Disgustang, in homage to the 1969 Mach 1s that Mickey Thompson set 295 records at Bonneville with. Give it a Google and you'll see. Thanks for watching!

    Owner of COPO Camaro paid $4185 in 1969. That's the equivalent of roughly $33k in 2022 when you factor in inflation rate. You got more performance/value for your money back then!

    Oh and I haven't watched till the end, but isn't that David frieghburgers Mach one. ... well maybe I should quit drinking and watch till the end

    COPO is ultimate sleeper, what a bargain this car is even today 7 litre with 425hp for 31,000 would be a bargain. Mach 1 cool also

    To be such a knowledgeable guy, he should know that the Mach 1 is absolutely NOT candy apple red. Candy apple red is a much darker color, closer to a maroon. This is more of a fire-engine red or flame red. Idk exact color names for Ford, but it is not candy apple.

    • @colincomer4566
      @colincomer4566 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the exact Ford color name for color code “T” on a 1969 Mustang is indeed “Candy Apple Red” as mentioned when I decoded the data plate on the driver’s door. As for wether or not Ford’s version of candy apple red matches the hundreds of other versions used by hot rodders etc over the decades well that is certainly up for debate. Much like the hundreds of different shades of “British Racing Green.” Thanks for watching!

    Nobody is paying $45-55k for the mustang. I can understand the evaluation on the COPO bcuz it’s a clean 1 owner car but the Mach 1 is a dime a dozen

  • @OldGriz708
    @OldGriz708 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bet if the COPO/COPO rolled through Mecum it would blow that $250k out of the water. I wouldn't touch that Mustang for half of hid lowest appraisal price, too much obvious rust showing.
