Really do think that Nintendo is missing out on so much by never adding single player elements (like the grind rails, or the speed ramps) to online stages. Grind rails on Moray would be too perfect, plus I like how your model squishes the stage down, while still keeping the iconic verticality. Also lol to the ending bit 💀
No but that idea for squid surge has gotta be one of my favorite things anyone's every said about fixing a splatoon stage- it gives you a flank, another option, and an actual REASON to use squid surge!! So smart zorc!
Probably one of the best turf war stages because if you get a mid Wipeout in the last 30 seconds no way are you taking the other teams entire tower freely
Honestly moray wouldn’t be so bad with a bit more cover in the more open areas, there are already a bunch of really fun things and great ideas there. I hope it comes back in splat 3 but I hope they don’t give it the Mahi or Flounder rework
Moray Towers is one of those stages where it is ok to be abhorrent in my opinion. It shouldn’t ever be in something like X-rank and series, but on turf war and open I think it could be really fun. Obviously some changes ARE necessary to make them playable in open because that’s where teams practice, but even then if they reworked the stage to be good on competitive it just wouldn’t feel the same anymore.
Yeah, I don't see any real reason to change Moray if they brought it back. Sometimes you just want a stage that plays like nothing you've ever seen, and in a game with a whole lot of samey-feeling stages, I think that that would be more than welcome here.
I think it could still preserve its identity with a few changes here and there but I do agree that I wouldn't want it to be changed that much. Verticality is kinda its biggest flaw but it is also what gives it its identity however I think we can meet halfway by shrinking the two ramps (same slope but around half-length, maybe extend the landing in-between) around spawn while keeping the rest of the map the same.
I mean, spawn is kinda my biggest issue with the map. I don't care how they change that part as long as it's for the better. The rest of it I do love, even the fact that the landings near mid are within E-liter range of each other because it allows for a battle of egos between charger mains.
I’ve said this before but, these maps would be perfect if they incorporated single-player content, they’d probably have to add some random lore for it, but it would just be so much better.
My only gripe with this redesign is that unlike Inklines where you can move back and forth on them willingly, Grind Rails are a one way option and once you commit to jumping on them you can't go back. So if you're in range of a player that can hit you while riding a Rail then you basically have no way to defend yourself outside of firing back at them (unless you're a Brella). Still a cool redesign and the visuals + explanation of it are very well done. 😊👍
Zorconic on his way to make another hot take (fr tho I think moray towers should stay exactly as is, I'm a casual player with no friends and would really hate to see one of my favorite maps become another competitive cesspool, no offense or hate to comp players but i don't really have good experiences with them, especially when i just want to play turf war/clam blitz and my entire team gets spawnkilled for the whole game)
Agreed, a majority of players aren’t competitive and I don’t think changing everything based on competitive players and only competitive players is a good idea Video games are meant to be fun to play, so why should they make the stage less fun for a majority of people to play
element idea: indestructible beacons that are part of the map. basicly like sponges exept they are beacons. they could open up the map IMENSLY i wonder why nintendo hasn't added map beacons yet?
I don’t think removing the verticality of the stage is a great solution, it kind of removes what makes the stage unique I think a better idea would be to add more routes to mid other than just dropping down The squid surge thing is definitely a great idea though
I had a dream once where Moray Towers got added to 3 but instead of a long crisscross road to mid they just made one huge ramp that goes straight down like a water slide
Or we need to make it turf only?? The main issue of Splatoon 3 right now is the anti-casual hostility. So it should probably not takr a genius that we should do everything BUT cater to competitive play??!
Honestly amazing ideas but if turf war only got the spawn and mid extentions while also keeping the huge verticality and the ranked modes are the squished down versions we would get the best of both worlds.
i like everything except the change in the level of verticality. The drops being too long and vulnerable my ass. They were funnier and objectively better. That is a fact.
I feel like this design would be a completely different stage compared to old morray But I also hated old morray so I approve, lol. A much better transition than something like mahi or hammerhead
So I wanted to ask, how do you even make maps like this. Cause I'm pretty interested in my own renditions and reworks of stages but I have no clue if there's a free way let alone a way to even do this like through an app or a website or smthg.

Yess 😩 I need hero mode things in normal maps
Hi CJ
Speaking of grind rails, putting them on Blackbelly leading to/from the top of the tower would be perhaps the most flavorful map change ever.
@@jasonwalton9553 woah yeah
Yes, and it would make more sense that single player mode is considered a tutorial, since it would introduce you to stuff in online play

Moray towers might not be the best map competitively but Unlike splatoon 3’s bad stages, moray towers was actually fun and unforgettable

Lightly warm take: they should add all the old maps alongside the new ones in a similar fashion to how they did ssbu’s roster.

You could build it in Minecraft
I think just take a photo of the original and edit it in photoshop? Idk just replying so I get notified when someone responds with a better solution
this would be amazing. i just know nintendo would never do it though 😑
Yes it’s returning
I know everyone is talking about how this stage is fun in casual play, but I always disagreed. I think these reworks would actually make it fun!
Hey Zorconic question why 95 for your favorite number?
I know this ain't going to be added because it would be the THIRD time appearing in the Splatoon franchise.
every map in spaltoon 3 is worse than moray
the rework is worse than the original map lol
