I think the main problem is that the devs are not willing to add any routes, which is the main problem the maps in the game have. The only route they added was in the one successful rework, mahi, which added in the islands to the game. The other reworks have failed to add in any routes whatsoever, and especially for mincemeat I just don't see the point of the rework if they don't add at least one route.
Because Mahi was the only one that could be considered a "rework", given that it's the community that calls them as such, not Nintendo: Mahi, coming from a previous game, still has its intrinsic good design that was "just" toned down when it was redesigned as a Spla3 map, and when they changed it tapping into its original feats, its potential was restored to a minor extent because it was already there. On the other hand both Mincemeat and Undertow would need a real rework because they have major flaws that small tweaks such as those they've done up until now for every "reworked" map just makes them slightly more playable but they don't address the core problems they have.
Mahi got the best rework in this game so far, still miss Spaltoon 1's Mahi but I'll take it XD Mincemeat I think will always be a map that is just like... awkward XD Undertow I actually like a lot more with the changes, the Undertow Hole I think is a good addition honestly, makes movement really nice for Zones! And I love the little caves, they're so fun to hide in and be goofy with like Ink Mines XD Awesome video by the way!
I think the problem with splatoon 3 reworks is that they aren’t like splatoon 2 reworks that improve the map in the way it should. Unlike splatoon 2 where they address the problem, splatoon 3 is trying to do everything BUT fix the main issues. I mean the most common trends they’ve done is give us more areas to help us defend, add poles, and give more cover rather than a flank. Mincemeat and undertow being the prime example of this philosophy. They are trying to keep these choke points but make them better to fight in rather than give the player more movement options. While yes this is inherently good, it still doesn’t fix the problems and continues to make the map feel bad. Something that I find extremely frustrating is how they get rid of map geometry in ranked modes rather than find ways to work around it. Like come on, we could’ve had the glass on undertow tower with a tall tower so we can jump across, and a better tower path that we can defend like through the ramp on the right on rainmaker. The worst feeling about these changes is that we are going to be stuck with them for another 4 years before the sequel comes and hopefully gives us what we want. But I’m hoping the next few updated maps will feel way better! If they wanna rework other good maps I hope they do hagglefish or umami since those seem to have tons of potential but suffer from tiny problems that these reworks seem to address. Otherwise, I’m gonna keep my hopes up on the bad maps, maybe we can get the beta maps of scorch and Eeltail back or have a brinewater that can ACTUALLY defend on lol.
i feel like this video explain how people feel about the stage reworks, not bad but could be better. i like the maps better now for soloq but could have done better
"I'll cover all 3 maps and their major changes. Alright that's all the major changes" Jokes aside, I don't think it's enough for the reworked version to just be better, it has to be drastic enough to justify the time they spent reworking it. Remember Fresh Season 2023 when we got a big list of maps that got minor tweaks here and there as part of the patch? Nowadays they're spending the same amount of time to make slightly above the same level of an upgrade but only for one map. The changes to these 3 maps aren't worth an entire season each, they all could've been done in the same one, especially with the other updates (balance patches, weapon kits, etc) diminishing in quantity too
The "cave" should have extended as a flank to enemy snipe.
If there is no pole, it's not a true map rework for splatoon 3!
i was so disappointed that my pole theory for undertow came out as false
@@ouh.my_ We got a H-ole though
I’ve also seen people call it the ‘Undertow polen’t’

plot twist:
the true impact of map reworks:
there is none💀
Mahi kinda goated tho... (Not on rainmaker)
i guess
@@mossyquartzz What about TC? the trench with the water is terrible.

Mahi tc has to be the worst map mode ever (even after the rework)
