    When my mother said that we were poor at one time, when she left my father. We did not get hooked on any drugs nor did we fall into the path of theift. As a teen we were not even capable of smoking a cigerette without getting our asses kicked by our mother. I have to say, I give my mother a lot of credit for not raising three non lazy, drug addicted kids.

      I'd view the premise of being poor and the impacts that are experienced as a result being a situation where people's individual experiences are entirely relative to their mindset/attitudes etc. A low income person/family are definitely capable of acknowledging the realities of their circumstances without relinquishing control of their personal values and morals or their desire and motivation to elevate themselves along with their standards of living and quality of life for instance. The problem rests with a person becoming complacent with and accepting of their circumstances. Nothing will ever change under those conditions when someone claims to be a victim of their circumstances and if they're given a choice they'd actually choose a different existence but yet they're unwilling to become involved with the process of positive change in their life.

Meanwhile i had a whole bunch of black friends that took the time to judge my character just to find out im good people. The culture in Appalachia is like it is for tragic historical reasons going back to the civil war and earlier and all the way back to the UK. The region has a long history of explotation by outsiders and outright violence against those who tried to make things better. The culture comes from learning to be dejected and give up to protect oneself and it became ingrained over generations.

    • @jKLa
      @jKLa 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also some of this is not the truth but simply Jose's prejudice. He is definitely right about his last point about not getting the media attention however. Most white poverty in the US is not rural. Also a lot of these sort of places DO have high rates of property and even violent crime but others don't. Most of these people if of working age also do work at least part time, with those who don't a large minority but even most of them do have a work history. These places are the exception in their regions and the negative here is partly true but also exaggerated. Negative descriptions of urban poor black communities while partly accurate tend to be greatly exaggerated as well. The mostly white and working class parts of the US have a lot more vibrant and well functioning blue collar comunities then places like this, although both are still common.

      Agreed 💯 Same here and both can teach a lot of various, interesting, valuable and sadly disheartening lessons. When I experienced people treating me differently after learning I had what I have in my pursuit of property, that was difficult for me. I had a hard time with that and still do. They only see the money, stark contrast to when they assumed I was poor and nobody to bother with. I also experienced quite a prejudice when I didn't have a male business investor versus when I did. When he wasn't involved, even fellow professional women didn't return my calls nor give me a second of their precious time. Without a man involved, I was not worth their time. Extraordinarily hurtful and disgusting, interesting how little people ever change! Those are just a couple examples that affected me a lot, but I've definitely learned so much and unfortunately much of it is very sad lessons, hardening, they have made me more hopeless in people and unfortunately bitter, I'm a worse person now. I believe that's the devil's plan, bring us down. Demote us to dollar signs and nothing more.

      In fairness, the criminal record comes after you finally realize you have some self-erected stumbling blocks like not finishing school, not being able to get a job because you didn't finish school,doing/selling drugs, having kids out of wedlock, and more. So it's not quite that easy. You forgot laziness though.

      @@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I'm a nurse who ended up with a "record" because I was summoned to court for something and never notified. I think you better reevaluate yourself!!! Plenty of very good people end up with unjustly disservice having done nothing wrong or minor infractions in many cases. The majority are not sex offenders or violent murderers. We are actually the highest contributers in every sense. An a crime in the past at ones worst, should never destroy an entire life. That person can still bring a lot to society and being prevented from working legitimately will only lead to worse for society, repeated crime/career criminal. That benefits no one!!! Your past should be your past. Not your forever identity. Your view is actually a lot more harmful and a detriment to society than promoting work!!! You seem to praise immigrant communities as you say in your video, yet you don't believe someone with a record should ever work!? What should they do then, sit around? Off my taxes? Off yours? Go sell drugs? An for your information, immigrant families definitely do their share of crooked antics, they came to a country that was already lined up & ripe for the taking! I was able to have my situation fixed, no problem as far as my "record" goes, but I think you got a hell of nerve and are awfully ignorant. Next you're going to say someone with fraudulent charges to their credit card is their own fault for having that credit card. Simple is as simple does!

    • @melissahouse3488
      @melissahouse3488 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I am an educated professional nurse. I ended up with a "record" merely for not receiving a letter or notice to appear in court. Had I received it, I certainly would have been there. I managed to get it corrected but it certainly taught me quite a brutal lesson in the prejudice and hatred towards those with one, and the deplorable ignorance this man displays in his reply to your valid comment. Preventing people from working benefits no one. Most records are not infractions that should define your entire life existence. Yet he praises immigrants and claims they are such hard workers, when they are just as crooked often as the ones with records or even more so!!!

I believe drastic changes are ahead because so much is out of balance and at extremes, it can't remain like this or continue to spiral without consequences that will bring a reset to push the pendulum towards the middle (balance). It will, I fear be very painful. We have seen it happen throughout History, Empires fall, people erased, constant new beginnings, balanced gained. Is it our turn?

      The trouble with the "swinging pendulum" of politics is the failure to recognize that the most powerful civilian force in the U.S. is the Far Right, and as a corollary to that, there is no real opposition to it. What is considered "left" are a handful of politicians who would be considered mainstream 50 yrs ago. Joe Biden is a corporate centrist as is Hillary. Both of them and the creaky remains of the Democratic Nat'l Committee are actively hostile to anyone which challenges corporate authority (which owns the GOP). And Obama said in an interview that if he had run for office in the latter 80s he would be considered a Republican. In short, there is little on the other end of the "swing" to swing back to. To carry the pendulum metaphor further, there thereby to "center" to be had.
      The OP has helped to promote a discussion pointedly ignored by legacy media, but his views on lazy drug-addled whites are little more constructive than the drive-by gangsta view of the black inner city.

The north and west sides of town were places that most people didn't want to be even then. I knew somebody who worked at a liquor store. One night a guy tried to rob him with a pair of scissors as a weapon. So he pulled out a baseball bat from behind the counter and smashed his hand. The guy ran out and was not heard from again. It's that kind of crime. Stupid people who used to live in small Ozarks towns and moved to Springfield because everybody in the small town knew about their bad behavior. At some point rural southern Missouri became the methamphetamine manufacturing capital, and things just got worse and worse. The south side and east side and areas around Missouri State Univ. are safe and mostly filled with nice family homes though.

      @@apexone5502 I'm not happy to see any one live a bad, dissolute life. I was born in New Orleans and lived there for many years - now I'm in the mountains of Appalachia. There are lot of drugs here in young people, but I do not fear for my safety the way I did in New Orleans. My grandparents were mugged in broad daylight on their front lawn. My stepsister had her door kicked down and was raped in her bed. My parents had a brick smashed in their window at a stoplight. I've been chased. I know a man whose mother was beaten to death with a blunt object- it was "random". There is crime and there is more violent crime. IN GENERAL --(NOT ALWAYS) as long as you don't get too familiar with these 'crackers', the worse they'll do is steal your lawn mower to go buy some meth. Yes, theft and drugs are criminal, but there are more dangerous crimes.

    I just discovered your "top" shows. Enjoyed all so far. But I had to stop and comment about something you said in this one. I am so very impressed to hear you say that even though you came from a poorer community and no hs diploma you made a good living. I'm a native New Yorker. My family came from Queens. I spent most of my life on Long Island. We had our bad areas and unfortunately bc of drugs, MS13 and other gangs there are more depressed areas. Nothing like in these videos for the most part. NYC that's always been a problem. Like you said these ppl who don't have jobs and work the system are the 1st ones complaining on the news. They don't want to work. They're lazy. Ppl in and around NYC and LI want out but
    Don't want to put any effort into coming up with ways, make a plan to do
    Better. I Nearly choked on my coffee when I heard you say that. I wish I heard it more. It's possible to do. At the same time I do realize that ppl in poor communities are depressed, have no mentors, noone to support & encourage them. Not without bumps. There are a lot of smart talented kids out there and it's sad they'll never get to grow it. I'm so glad that you shared that. You seem grateful that you were able to dig out. Maybe you
    Have someone in your family or someone you know that you could encourage. Share some of your life and how you are doing well. Even doing
    Motivational speaking in schools. Look, I'm not trying to tell you what you
    Should do with your life. I just took the long way around to say i appreciated
    And am encouraged by some things you shared.
