I have the same turntable under a different name with auto return at the end of the record, it's called Modular Component Systems 6602 Direct Drive Automatic turntable. i can say it is quite good!
mine is in perfect shape except I need to clean the speed tuning pots and re-lubricate the damping lift/descending piston. I believe you use the 0000 silicon viscus grease.. it has to be the extremely thick 0000 and silicon based type otherwise a warm environment would melt it and it would drain out; this fluid. Silicon Grease is responsible for the slow descent of the tonearm and needle.. something that needs attention on all these 70s models plus even newer models at some point, there are directions for this refurbishing process.. very minor operation, the main thing is to purchase the correct viscosity 0000 type.. it's not really a fluid, it's the consistency of petroleum jelly--BUT ONLY USE SILICON GREASE OTHERWISE YOU'LL BE WASTING YOUR TIME.
You are the guy I need to talk to about the vicious damped cueing not working properly. I have had the SL-2000 since the late 70s and she is still playing very well. Could you pass along the procedure for disassembly and lubrication? I would be very grateful.
I would recommend the 100,000 CST Heavy Damping because it feels almost like glue, the SL2000 has a piston, there’s not a reservoir, you just remove the piston and wipe it clean and dry then apply the silicon grease to the notched piston, the notches hold reserve grease, the Re-insert without squeezing too much out.. once in place wipe off excess and replace the retaining cover. I will take pictures and get them to you. I’m ordering the grease. Here’s the correct viscosity 100,000 cst heavy damping www.paypal.com/webapps/shoppingcart?mfid=1618104539597_bdd56181a3ee8&flowlogging_id=bdd56181a3ee8
I have this same turntable in very good shape but lately I've noticed that the vicious damped cueing doesn't work as it should, allowing the tonearm to float down to the record surface. Is this repairable? Any directions you can give me on this would be welcome.
This turntable doesn't have a pre amp built in. You wouldn't need an external preamp if the receiver you are connecting it to has a phono output. If the receiver doesn't have phono output then you will need an external preamp...otherwise the sound will be very low.
@@razdudesnowboardingebay8438 Thanks for the quick answer, the music system has no phono output, i will buy an external amplifier, because as you said the sound is super low.
I also just bought this deck and the dust cover has similar cracking near the hinge. What glue should I use to repair it, would methylene chloride work? Thanks!
I owned two of those turntables back in the late 1970's where I was doing mobile DJ'ing. Nice turntables. I loved them.
I am thinking of getting 2 for my vintage disco soundsystem, are these as powerful as 1200's and is beatmatching possible? Greetings Chris

You mention servicing, where can I get this done?

Would you know the brand of that silicon grease?
I need to order some I’ll copy you with the info and directions, I did it once but it’s time again

Correction.. the heaviest is 300,000 cst better because it will last longer
is it possible to
rewire the tonearm?
What's the price on this unit?
Does the SL-2000 retract after record is played or do you have to manualy remove the tonearm from the record?
Manual....
The SL2000 was the the Full Manual, no tonearm action. But because it's manual there aren't any extra vibrations.

Look for something called 'silicone damping fluid' for tonearms. I had the same problem a year ago, looked and found it on ebay, came in a syringe.

Hello, one friend has gave the same turntable, i would like to know if i need an external amplifier or is included inside the record player, thanks.

Andrew Wilkinson you can use an acrylic glue but you also need a syringe to apply it
