It’s less about the shrapnel and more about the Explosive wave. Shrapnel will tear your skin, but the explosive concussion can liquify your internal Organs out to 100 feet and out to 200 feet can rattle your Brain enough to put you into a Coma.

The position of the vehicle, being between two buildings means no shrapnel to the left and right. They were already clearing it and it was a street fair going perpendicular to it so there wouldn't be any people in the line of fire. Just bad effects and logic of the writers.
Car bombs aren't about damage, they're about leaving you paranoid of something you see lining the streets of any small town or large city. It's urban terrorism, and it's harrowing. Edit: Just adding thoughts, not disagreeing.
I always laugh when I see someone trying to destroy evidence by taking a hammer to the frame of a computer. That does nothing to the readability of the Hard Drive's disk where the data is stored. All they do is add some time onto recovering the information as it is now harder to extract the hard drive.
She should've removed the drive first but perhaps it was a spur of the moment decision like she was planning on doing it but then the police showed up. Plus why even use a computer at all? That's just asking for your messages to be intercepted. I guess these folks weren't professionals, the real deal use couriers.
If I have to destroy a hard drive, I literally take it apart, piece by piece and breaking the internals. My boss just uses the drill press and drills in it four or five times

He didn't die in the blast. The team tracked him down, and near the end of the episode it has Kim Burgess and toma in a park. Toma is sitting on a bench wanting to kill himself, Kim tries to talk him out of it. She thought she did it and was going to get the gun off toma, but in a last second decision he puts it under his chin and pulls the trigger, leaving Kim in total shock.
He killed himself not too long after this incident, after becoming a suspect in the bombing himself. In reality, he was undercover, off the books, in the terrorist cell and was trying to stop the (series of) attacks from happening.

Considering the damage to the back of the van on the sides it looks like the show did their homework, hired a bomb expert to pack the van with a ball bearing IED set it off then shot van before bomb and after bomb for the show, obviously detonating the van somewhere in the desert for safety

one thing that bothered me, why would someone just run right into the middle of the street without looking first... like at least run on the sidewalk for 10 seconds first. and second, that van explosion was horrible. I dont think it would have killed anyone even if they didnt clear the area
the thing i don't like about this part is that the terrorist is depicted to be a part of a group that if associated with supposed muslims. This is the wrong representation of islam and it is unfair to depict an entire religion and society of people based off the action of a few people that do not follow the values or morals of the religion. There are plenty of people that are not Muslims that have also committed acts of terrorism, but when acts of terrorism are portrayed in the media, they are usually always associated with muslims and islam. I just think this is a very unjust conception of what the entire religion of islam is.

Hey y'all, just want to clarify that Cops in real-life are not permitted to yell in a hostile manner at suspects while questioning him/her. It is unethical, and could even be considered a violation of the person's civil rights, and is abuse of power. This show really casts a negative light on Police Officers, when in reality this is far from how they really act.
Yeah, this isn't even like a "ohh the gov is making it easier for criminals" it's about not forcing a suspect to just give any answer even if it's false so the suspect can just get the interrogation over with. Likewise with torture
It was fun watching Adam go Ip Man on the terrorist and I don't know why he was griping about the uniform detail as he looked great in it. The P.I Magnum sunglasses was the icing on the cake.😎
It's so that they announce themselves as police and not some random chasing them. So if the suspect keeps running the police can put an additional charge onto the suspect known as resisting arrest Edit: had to specify police
I don't understand shows like this where the criminal is able to escape through the back of the building where no cops are. With FBI & Police you would think somebody would have the back covered, right?

If something actually does pose a threat he would have to pull his arm back, rack the slide, re-aim, and then engage the threat. Who taught this man tactics? He clearly knows it's empty because he racks a round into the chamber 2 seconds later.
