      Appreciate the comment! I have a list as long as my arm of video ideas just making the time to get some done. Currently planning on turning my garage into a little workshop over this winter so will be much easier then. Stick around and i hope to get some consistency going next year😄 Thanks again👍🏼

Just bear with me i will get some made as soon as i can!😆 Managed to retrieve a huge 8”x8” solid oak gate post today so just jotting down some ideas what I can turn it in to as we speak! Just need the workshop up and running and I can get making them. It’s crazy that you are watching from so far away. This is really good work. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious it seems like the material is some type of mdf, would it still come out as clean with wood?

    • @mwjoinery
      @mwjoinery  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks a lot!👍🏼 yeah it was just an off cut of mdf I used for the video but it will work with material really. MDF is very easy to mark and cut so it may take a little bit more time with timber but should still be able to get a good finish!😁

    How do I calculate the width I need to cut to?

    • @mwjoinery
      @mwjoinery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for watching! It’s hard to explain over a message but i will try my best. The easiest way, is to scribe your panel to the wall first and leave plenty overhanging. Keep altering it until you get it nice and then do the straight cut on the front edge. If you have an edging or something on the straight side what can’t be cut. Overhang the panel and level it up. If the panel overhangs the finishing position for example 40 mm. you set the scribe tool to 40mm from the pencil to the point. Once that is scribed the panel should go back the 40 mm and the front edge should end up where you intended. Hope this helped? If not, let me know and i will try and explain better. Thanks👍🏼

    Nobody shows how they address the other side of the board where it flushes up to the facing.

    • @mwjoinery
      @mwjoinery  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are a few ways to do that really. You can either oversize the piece, do your scribe and then mark on a level line where you want your straight cut and cut it with something like a track saw. Or the way I do it mainly is overhang the bit you want to scribe lets say 40mm for example and level it up. Then if you clamp it in place, set your scribe tool to 40mm and cut it out. The board should slide back 40mm and finish flush on the front edge. Hope this helps? If not let me know and I can try to answer it better? Thank you for watching👍🏼
