Low Down Dog - Leonard "Baby Doo" Caston

Recorded at Wilebski's Blues Saloon, Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA, in March 1984.
Perhaps not one of the best-known names on the blues scene, Baby Doo Caston was nevertheless a successful Chicago musician in his day. His recording career began about 1940 when he formed the group The Five Breezes together with Willie Dixon.
Backing him on this number are the Minnesota Barking Ducks.
Sorry about the poor quality of the video, salvaged off an old VHS cassette.

My dad was good friends with Baby Doo.
When I was very young, 3/4 years old Baby doo would come over in the middle of the night, wake up the whole house to make music with my dad. I never minded waking up because he also brought me hostess chocolate mini donuts. The first time I saw my dad cry was when my mom told my dad that Baby doo had passed away. I never realized until recently how fortunate I was to grow up around music and the blues family culture. Thank you for the video.

This is my great grandpa, I was two years old when he passed.. I wish I would got the chance to meet him.. Great grandma Josephine was the best and she would tell me story's about Great Grandpa Leonard.... Grandma Sparkie (Lenora) is my grandma , which is one of my great grandpa Leonard daughters..

I knew Baby Doo. Very nice man. He was Princes piano teacher when Prince was little. I stayed at his and his wife Josephine's house overnight in the early 80's, and he hung with us at a gig in Iowa. Thanks for posting this.

Ted, Leonard is my great grandfather. I live there. He died like 4 days before I was born. Never met him but grandma Josephine, I used to lay in bed with her. Eugene, Carmen, Sparkie, Cricket are my great aunts n uncle
