Peter Yarrow singing yet another masterpiece song by the great Paul Williams "That's Enough For Me". Outstanding performance with a full string section, beautiful. I haven't seen this since May 3, 1974 so it's a special treat to see it again now. I even remembered the full string arrangement of 50 years ago!!! (note: on the broadcast back in 1974 they showed the orchestra with the full string section, oddly it is not shown here, and I don't know why)

I was 15 years old and in high school when I saw this on the Midnight Special. I stayed up late just to see The Spinners. I also had both their albums 'Spinners'(1972) and 'Mighty Love' (1974). They may be gone in body, but their Spirits and fantastic music lives on. #SpinnersForever

Amazing footage, I grew up watching this show and I have been in to rare and obscure hard rock bands from the late 60's and early 70's my whole life and I had no idea some of these bands such as Bedlam, Spooky Tooth, Status Quo, Wishbone Ash, and even more rare footage of Montrose after I thought I seen it all. Some of these lesser known bands that were on this show is really impressing me big time.

I was so excited to see your late, great brother Dave performing here I neglected to mention you, his brother Denny Ball. Dave had a short but strong stint with Procol Harum and filling Robin Trower's shoes was no easy task, much respect. The Way Back Machine is back from the cleaners, we made a mess in it last week. The Spinners, incredible! A throw back to a time when talent and choreography were what made a band great! Bobby Womack was an earwig back during the day, so infectious his songs lived in your head for hours. I remember Cozy Powell with Rainbow, in 1974 I was more into the local AM station, I discovered FM in 1975, after the KISS concert I attended in March 1975. Bloodstone will be one of those groups that when I hear them, I will go, "I remember that" and it will trigger a memory. Martha Reves, much talent, Peter with Paul and Mary will seem like something is missing. Looks like another great trip to memory lane! Thanks Midnight Special!

The Lockers danced to the recording of Billy Preston's "Outa-Space". Because it was the original recording, the licensing cost most have been expensive. It's the sad state of the music industry where they harm themselves by preventing their product from being marketed.
As opposed to editing out the segment, I always recommend content providers simply remove the sound and leave the visual intact. And then explain in the description why the sound had to be muted. Similar to if there were blemishes in the original tape. Don't amputate. Provide what you can and allow the viewer to enjoy or skip past. In my case, I would have enjoyed seeing the Lockers even without hearing the accompanying music.

@@shyman99When the cancel culture crowd asked for Bill Cosby to be edited out of a prior episode, someone representing this account claimed that they don't edit the episodes. However, they did edit Monty Python's performance over a clip they didn't have the rights to rebroadcast (a Terry Gilliam animation, I think?). More recently, Curtis Mayfield's more incendiary lyrics in "(Don't Worry) If There's a Hell Below, We're All Going to Go" appear to have been left in the episode, but were edited out of the standalone video.

Actually…I believe this was a tough time for him. The glory days of the mid sixties were well behind him and he had a tough time finding work in the seventies - from what I’ve read sometime ago. There’s another Martha Reeves concert clip out there from this same year (I believe) but I forget the show venue. It’s color footage and Jim Keltner is on drums. Do a search and I’m sure you’ll find it. There’s a few cool shots of James on the Funk Machine.

THIS IS ACTUALLY A GOOD EPISODE BUT BOBBY WOMACK WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT AND MARTHA REEVES DID A SONG THAT WAS BIG BY JOE SIMON IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN. I HATE THEY HAD TO CUT OUT THE LOCKERS PERFORMANCE BECAUSE OF COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

cozy is a true god on the drums. the stuff he was doing for rainbow is unlike anything. the two albums he did in rainbow w/ ronnie james dio is hard rock at its finest. he was also kicking ass in whitesnake and had david coverdale put aside his own ego and kept powell, bassist neil murray, and guitarist john sykes in the mid-1980s. they would've ruled the world.
