    I own a 2023 Pro 4x. Its a simplistic truck, feels and drives like a truck. No fancy gimmicks, and enough tech to keep it modern. It drives quiet and smoothly. Easy to work on and no turbos to worry about. You keep saying "old school" like that is a bad thing. Will last longer than a domestic midsize. Sorry this truck is more than capable off road. It does not have lack of power compared to others, it lacks the torque of a turbo. The steering is hydraulic power steering, it feels strong and responsive.

    I enjoy your reviews, but you forgot about the Ridgeline still having a NA V-6. While this Frontier is awesome, the Ridgeline is commonly overlooked, despite it surpassing the Frontier (and all mid-size pickups) in several categories. For example: best payload, bed size, flat bed, trunk, tailgate, ride quality, rear seats, and cabin size. And arguably probably the best reliability and resale value. Sure, it has drawbacks, like going off-road, but few people actually take these trucks beyond logging roads. I personally prefer the ride height of the Frontier, but since I’m pushing 50, I’m done climbing in or out of vehicles.

    Sucks that now in days if you want to fit your full family of three you can't count on a midsize truck you are forced to buy a full size truck even if you dont need a behemoth of a full size truck.
    I'm really considering the Honda Ridgeline Trailsport it seems to be more spacious in the back seat.

      I'm fairly certain Nissan will enlarge the rear seating. Now that they've discontinued the Titan, only time will tell.

    Well, Now I'm not sure if I should go with the Frontier pro 4x or possibly the canyon at4 as my off road, daily driver. Seeking a rugged truck, hunting, camping, hiking and off road adventures.

    I’ll be hauling grandkids in the near future, so it looks like I’m scratching Frontier off the list of trucks to consider.

    This is great that you did all of the car seat stuff! That is what I did years ago when shopping for an SUV to see if the two car seats fit. Removed a bunch of SUVs from the list and pissed off a bunch of salespeople! Lol😂

    Cliff notes: its old, interior is cramped (standard for the class), window switch light is dim, laptop bag doesn't fit in the center console (lol I'm sorry, what?), no two-person seat memory, carseat overhangs (industry standard accepts up to 20% overhang), auto stop-start is too noticeable, acceleration is abrupt, steering is too heavy, turning radius is too large... boy howdy has this world gotten soft.

    • @GTGarageTalk

    Difference between 2022 and 2023 Frontiers is the steering which was updated from hydraulic power steering to engine speed sensitive hydraulic power steering and at low speed turn I was pleasantly surprised I got none of that reviews of heavy steering. So heavy steering talk on 2024 Frontier is non issue

    • @Kirk144
      @Kirk144 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really like the new frontiers. I test drove a 2022 pro x and the steering was heavy but at higher speeds. I didn't really notice and it felt really good. I'm still in the market and have not purchased yet. Do you have a source for the 2023 2024 update or changes to the steering? Thank you.

    • @reggie2261
      @reggie2261 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the steering system in the 2022 Nissan Frontier is different from the 2023 model. According to The Drive, the 2022 Nissan Frontier has a steering setup that consists of a belt-driven hydraulic pump backing up a rack and pinion. The rack is 16% quicker than the updated 2020 model’s, with 17.3:1 gearing reducing turns between locks to a flat three. The steering in this truck is heavily boosted so as to make it easier to drive, and in off-road situations, reduces the risk of the steering wheel jerking around. Nissan handles that with an extra steering damper, allowing power assist to remain modest, and thus the connection between the driver’s hands and the front wheels feels fully mechanical Ad1.
      On the other hand, the 2023 Nissan Frontier has engine speed sensitive power steering 2. This system provides a more stiff feeling when driving at highway speeds, allowing drivers to feel more connected to the road. At low speeds, the system provides full assistance like power steering for easy maneuvering Ad1.

    How is the paint holding up? Nissan can have thin paint…

    • @GTGarageTalk
      @GTGarageTalk  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In our week with it (I cannot remember how many total miles it had on it) we saw no issues, but that really is too short to report on a long term item like paint durability.

    Yes it's small as is the Tacoma. Perhaps the Titan would of been the better choice for a family. My Tundra Crewmax was perfect for a family and great for moving kids into college.

    We dont have a kid, but are trying. I have a Crosstrek that i love, but were in need of something a bit more capable.
    I was looking at this truck because i can find them used for a decent price. But the car seat thing killed that.
    If the car seat situation was better id probably get one.
    Honda Ridgeline seems like it may be what id need. Id want something more capable off-road than the Ridgeline though.

    • @GTGarageTalk
      @GTGarageTalk  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I drove a brand new one last sunday, the steering is horrible, way to hard, and the ride quality was terrible, when i hit a bump on my test drive, the whole truck jarred so strange its hard to explain, after my test drive i was looking at reviews on TH-cam, one guy was getting rid of his, for several reasons, they ( nissan ) didn't finish painting the hood underneath, half the hood was left primerd and same with door jambs, rubber seal around doors falling off

    The Honda Ridgeline has a V6 N/A with more interior room and A/C vents for the rear seats with a larger back seat area.. ALSO what fool would spend 45k to jump ditches and climb rocks. wasted time watching this review

      People who like too off road duh. And the true off road trucks are way more than 45k. Nissan frontier can offroad fine and it's a great price. You'll be spending 55k and up for better off road trucks

      Exactly, I'm shopping for a midsize truck with a V6 NA. I have a toddler son and me and wife want a second kid and these type of truck/car reviews actually do help us to get a better idea of what we can expect from these new vehicles.
