I just turned 35 and I’m trying to get ahead of the longevity game- it’s no longer just about looking good, it’s about long term mobility and living a long life with dignity as long as possible
I’m addicted to your channel as a 49 YO. You’re so encouraging and motivating in this arena. I appreciate that you share your wealth of knowledge. Thank you!
Very helpful!, I've been following you here on TH-cam, and so happy to have found you. I was always tall and naturally thin, could eat anything without gaining weight, until perimenopause hit. I'm 48 now, and navigating this crazy but beautiful menopause phase in life. I started weight training, eating healthy with tons of protein. I feel better than ever before. Thank you for giving us women all the information we don't always get from healthcare professionals.
Eggs and fish are my animal protein. Otherwise, all plant based. I'm 67, retired firefighter. I am able to build muscle. Definitely challenging. I recently found your videos and your training is in my wheelhouse. Any advice on diet is welcome.
@jennysolomon-haase9103 I recently hired a fitness coach and nutritionist to help me. I was ok with not eating much meat, just never really a fan. My nutritionist explained to me that you need to incorporate animal protein in your diet and it’s especially important as you get older and tend to lose more muscle. I believe that I’m saying this correctly, but animal proteins have a more complete amino acid profile than plant protein. I was afraid of eating meat due to the fat and to avoid health problems, but it has been explained to me that if I eat lean meat, ( like 93% lean, 7% fat) lean ground turkey, fish, etc. that this is healthier than eating regular beef that is full of fat, which in turn has given red meat a bad name. I do try to buy grass fed, grass finished beef, and turkey or chicken without the antibiotics and hormones. It’s been slow adding these meats in, but it’s really not bad. My nutritionist pushes for lean meat, fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds and water. That’s the rule. Eating whole foods and measuring your macros has been a game changer. Good luck to you! ❤
Grass finished beef & Buffalo meet. Etc. What or how can we eat animal meats without strong teeth & jaw MUSCLES?? SENIORS TEETH IS NOT STRONG enough to easily chew GOOD YUMMY RED MEATS.?? Any ideas?? 😮
Hi! Canned salmon is a great substitute for fresh, packed with protein, omega-3s, and calcium (if bones are included). It's convenient for quick meals-just choose wild-caught for the best nutrition. Hope this helps! -Team JJ
Lots of information, was a bit overwhelmed. But I want to look and stay healthy and find better sources of protein instead of cheese and fish tacos..🙋 Happy I found you... I subscribed..
Hi @mistiroberts1576 L-leucine is one of the essential amino acids, and it's a superstar when it comes to building muscle. It's like the spark plug for muscle protein synthesis, which is the process your body uses to build new muscle tissue. Hope this helps! -Team JJ
From the products I buy, I have found that cottage cheese has MORE protein than high protein Greek yogurt, albeit by not much. But like compound interest - every little helps. 300g CC = 36.9 g of protein vs 300g GY = 33.0 g of protein.
In addition, this way of gettin protein will significantly increase the odds of your getting fuel for our two leading chronic illnesses - cancer and heart disease.
You can eat all the protein you want & I’m not against that. Testosterone & growth hormones build muscle mass. A young man or woman can eat a plant based diet & still build large muscles. As we age we lose so much testosterone & that’s why you don’t see to many muscular men in their 60s & a lot of them are on testosterone replacement therapy.
I retired at 63, 69 now. 5 Weeks ago my back neighbor had an accident, so I grabbed my ladder went over the 6ft wall and helped. There is an electrical pole in her yard with a support cable that I used to grab and swing back over when I was younger. I failed as I lost a lot of my strength. I had an aha moment. The next day I ordered weights and started the 100 push ups challenge and ended up with 5 times 20 push ups when my weights arrived, so I changed my exercises to do this as well. I lost 6kg (13,2lbs) and feel better and a lot stronger and then my resistance straps came, more exercise. Now I will have to order more weights and build a work out bench, fortunately I can weld. I upped my protein as well.
I found this very helpful and good info in helping my 65 year old self get more protein into my daily diet. I’m so curious, not at all critical, about stats that say vegetarians live longer than meat eaters! I realize the healthy versions of animal products make a huge difference. I’d love a very healthy pro-vegetarian and you, who I very much respect, to have an online conversation on this debate. Just a thought! Thank you for your great information.
My choice to avoid is based on how beef, pork, chicken is raised, mainly in confined area. Over 40 yrs raising and butchering my own. If I can find a farmer that is raising them organically, I'm all over it.
Lift ten pounds, then LIFT 15 POUNDS. Then LIFT 20 pounds every other day for women. Grass fed grass finish pastured raised COWS, CATTLE ( BEEF) MEATS. Daily.. correct??😊😊😊
Thought filler was dangerous to put around the eyes. Some people have had it migrate into a vessel & cause blindness. I thought the rule of thumb was filler below nose. Only fat injections in orbital & below eye. Botox on the outer edge
You may be commenting on the wrong video, but it’s my understanding that “all” fillers are dangerous on the face and _especially_ around the eyes. I’ll take looking older over possibly going blind. ❤
@jjvirginvideos you mention eggs and dairy in this episode, both of which are included on your "DItch List" of 7 Foods Harming Your Health. Curious about the contradictory advice...
If you are amongst the 20% of the richest people in the world you can afford all the best foods (and supplements) you can buy but what about the other 80%? I do find wild fish like salmon affordable but have to take pot luck with meats and eggs.
Save time to not have to find all that stuff,Just eat beef and a lot of it. Grass fed is best but anything like beef, lamb, mutton, goat, elk, moose, deer of various types. GL and if you don't eat the plants they can't kill you.
Believe it or not some of us over 50 are building muscle through strength training while eating a plant based diet. All plants have complete proteins, it's unfortunate you did not include any plant options. There are plenty of vegan bodybuilders on the socials, proving that meat and meat products are not necessary to build lean muscle.
Too much talking…. I prefer it straight down to business. Give me the list of top 5 protein sources with minimal explanation-boom the video is done in 5 minutes!
Product labeling only says grass-fed. There's no explanation of how to figure out if it is grass finished. I haven't had a raise in years so it matters what I spend on groceries. This was frustrating information
these recommendations are out of reach for most of the population so, we will continue to drive people towards unhealth choices. lets give people something tangible to work with . my self i am fortunate to afford these choices , but lets help more people than just the fortunate few .
I switched to carnivore because it is the easiest. I don't want to measure things. I just wanted to eat and get full. I don't have no known health issues yet to resolve. So I'm on full meatbased. The cravings for sugar and carbs, It went away after I gave up coffee.
Which amino acid does the cancer growth? And can anyone tell me if the garden of life sports plant based protein shake is a good shake? Thanx you ..... for women..
Why not tell your viewers that this diet contains humongous amount of cholesterol and promotes atherosclerosis. Do you think people prefer good muscle mass to dying prematurely from heart attack?
True bison is better for land regeneration but too wild to tame. Beef does cause a lot of air, water/land pollution and water waste. Though grass fed beef is healthier it does harm the environment.
@@elinino5275 YET 80% of soy beans harvested are used to feed the livestock further harming the environment. I am glad that you pointed out the damage caused by soy products which I did not know. They do need a more environmental friendly crop for food and a better way to raise livestock.
Is there much more? It's not that complicated of a concept. Personally I struggle quite a bit packing in the 145 g of protein in consistency. It's really a full time job in itself.
BEST Strength Training Routine for Women Over 40 (+ Free Workout Plan!): th-cam.com/video/jFVN1g7_6yY/w-d-xo.html

Mash in bayarlalaa.

I thought JJ uses Plant protein since she’s sensitive to dairy? I cant do too much dairy or whey, so I’ve switched to plant for now.
