Louis you need to do this again, aside from Steve Lehto being a terrific advocate for you he has a knack for taking dry-as-dirt legalities and making them entertaining, which when combined with your style of explaining the down-to-earth impact of this issue, could definitely help interest in this skyrocket.

Yes, I agree! Louis needs to stop worrying about getting people to discus _Right to Repair_ on his channel and start making it a priority to discus it on theirs. I believe this conversation was better off being on Steve's channel from the beginning though. th-cam.com/video/HiQP5htOcPc/w-d-xo.html Steve's audience is a prime target audience for _Right to Repair,_ and it is unlikely that many are even aware of this.

@@GeorgeVCohea-dw7ou Something else that bears mention is that like it or not, Louis' own channel has largely become a platform for right-to-repair discussions--all well and good, but that's not what drew me here in the first place, and I actually skip them nowadays when they seem to focus on that topic. Nothing wrong with focusing on a topic, especially if you're passionate about it, but at some point it gets to be repetitive. This was brilliant because it presented the same content but with a fresh spin, and like I said Steve definitely has a flair for this sort of thing. He and Louis definitely played well off one another, in the TV world they'd call it chemistry between performers--if Louis had "guest stars" (for lack of a better term) more often I'd definitely tune in no matter what the topic was.

If Louis wants to reach more people, he has to get these types of videos on the other's channel. It doesn't do much good to talk to someone on _his_ channel, where everyone already knows. Steve Lehto and Ben Heck have both discussed _Right to Repair,_ but you really can't tell by looking at their channels. It's truly a mistake and disservice not to let their audiences in on it. Even if it is a straight up identical copy, Louis should send both a copy and request that they post a version on their channel. It's not too late.

Also, most people cannot sort the crap on cable news from the real journalism that plays on the networks that interface with the historic U.S. news establishment, as opposed to its ridiculous detractors that perpetuate a nonfactual populist alternate reality.

Once I was able to repair a cell phone only because my wife and I bought 2 identical phones. Hers quit, but I kept it just in case. When my microphone died I pulled her old one out and fixed mine. A regular repair shop wanted $100 or so and a week to repair it. I succeeded it the repair in 30 minutes.

As Lehto pointed out, this is a trend that started 30+ years ago. My parents had a television they bought in the 1970s (Zenith). They didn't have to replace it until around 2015. And even then, they replaced it because it was very difficult for them to use Roku, Netflix, etc on something with only 1970s interface connections.
Do you own any electronic equipment you expect to last 40+ years? Not because you want something better...but will it actually still function if you use it often for that long?

I've watched a number of Steve's videos over the last few years, and I like how he presents things. I may not always agree with him on different or various points, but I always feel he is not just competent, but is also willing to listen as well.
And, being an advocate of Right-to-Repajr, and a DIYer myself, I am all about doing things myself, because at the end of the day, it comes down to, as it always does, "How much are you willing to pay to get X or Y fixed?" Plus, I also find Right-to-Repair an environmental issue as well, as throwing away a component or two is almost always less waste than it is to throw away a car or cell phone that no longer works.
Nice conversation, regardless, Louis. Be proud of this one.

Back in the seventies I bought a Kenwood receiver amplifier quad Channel and it came with a full set of schematics. Which I used to repair it about 10 years later when the power supply failed. I even bought the part 2 Fix-It at Radio Shack

Louis knows how to think for himself, and he wants to learn, so he listens. He is not busy constantly battering his mind with self-flattering banter because he needs confirmation bias to affirm himself of his own self-worth. He's not afraid to be wrong and sees himself as an imperfect receptacle. Which is the crux of the matter : that he even understands the concept of a receptacle.
Thanks for all that you do Louis. I really appreciate all this effort to keep the spirit alive. I also enjoy seeing you ride through all of the lower bowery and the lower East side where I spent 6 years of my life when I was 4 to 10 years of age. My dad lived the last 30 years of his life living in a room at Broome and Bowery.

This is a great collaboration with Steve, but he works with cars that are still under warranty. You need to speak with Pine Hollow Diagnostics, South Main Auto, ScannerDanner, and Diagnose Dan. These guys work with fixing cars out of warranty and have to buy an absurd number of expensive OBD2 scanners/ programmers to diagnose and fix cars. These are your equivalent in the automotive realm.

Lemon design happens to even name brands. Honda used weak automatic transmissions in their Accords & Odysseys (1998-2011). Toyota crippled the dependable design of a fleet engine and produced the 2AZ-FE (2002-2006). Peace.
