    You can do this cert for absolutely free through The American Dream Academy program that closes its enrollment in July. It's meant for only U.S. residents. Can't believe this isn't talked about enough. It's 100% free from this method. I'm on course 4 right now.

    What is the correlation between web analytics and data analytics?
    I already have experience with Google analytics and other cx tools, and I am considering expanding my skills in data analytics.
    But I would hate to analyze, let's say, financial data.
    Your thoughts about it?

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Web analytics is a subset of the analytics field. To my knowledge, you don’t really go into much programming and focus on the web domain. I’ve used Google Analytics pretty intensely for a previous job and it’s a very good tool for web analytics. As a data analyst, I’ve personally messed with web data, financial data, geolocation data etc. If you want to abstain from financial data specifically you can certainly find a more niched position. With your background in CX, a Business Intelligence profession or a Web Analytics position might suite you well!

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That depends on what you actually learned from that bachelors. If you have an understanding of programming, how to navigate datasets, the basic questions to ask and how to answer them when you’re solving business problems, fundamental statistics (p-value, hypothesis testing, etc) then yes I would say jump to the advanced course as that teaches you Machine Learning

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great questions ( I envy the digital nomad life). The general issue that I see when it comes to working in America while being abroad is 1) Tax Law and 2) Work authorization. Since you have work authorization (assuming you have work authorization in the US) you might want to look into tax obligations while being under a W2 in the US. Im not too familiar with contract work but I think that might be a possible work around. This career path is known for remote work so I am confident you will be able to find something that fits

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also by Python course, do you mean the Advanced Google Data Analytics course? If that’s the course you’re talking about, I recommend that course for those who have a background in programming and some fundamental understanding of data and data manipulation. If you are comfortable with the pre reqs, then I would strongly recommend it as it goes into advanced skills like Machine Learning and statistical testing methods you can apply in your day to day role. The skills you learn here closely align with a typical Data Scienctist role. I would definitely recommend taking your own time but there are certain assignments and quizes that have deadlines. I believe the deadlines are reasonable and the estimated time to complete the course is 6 months (I could be wrong).

      @@raneshguruparan Yes, I was referring to the Advanced course. I have had some Python but it was a long time ago. I prefer working in Python. Also, do you prefer the IBM course over the Google course?

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I also prefer Python as it’s more commonly used in the tech niche and with implementing ML models into production. It’s such a versatile language and very easy to learn so I wouldn’t worry about R vs Python too much. If you understand basic stats, have a decent understanding of data manipulation, have worked with datasets before, I think you should be able to start with the Advanced course.

      I'm not sure that it's beneficial to rush the courses and complete it in a month if you don't have adequate time to spend on each module/section. However, if you do want to complete it all in a month, I believe the requirements to get the certifications are just to complete the quizes and labs. You could focus on completing the quizes/labs for the courses/modules that you have some familiarity with the content. There are also a lot of resources online (github/stackhoverflow/quizlet) that guide you through these courses. Again, if your goal is to maximize the learning, I strongly recommend taking your time through each course.

      Hey Alanna, that’s a great question. I think this course would help you understand how data is handled and how to properly model data for future data analysts/scientists that you work with. I personally think if you are comfortable with programming and want to dive deeper into the world of data you might be interested in ML/AI. A few courses I recommend for that would be the Advanced Google Data Analytics certification, Andrew Ng & Stanfords MLOps certification. From a SWE perspective, understanding how AI/ML implementation works, building ETLs and Data pipelines definitely could be beneficial. Here are some reviews i’ve made of those courses:

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It depends on how you typically study. It is the same as any other educational material. For me personally, some concepts were easier to understand, some were not as easy. For instances where I didn’t quite understand what they were teaching, I did some external research and tried to find examples to help me understand better. If you feel like you would do better with notes, I recommend you do just that. Ultimately, decide what your goal is for this course first before taking it. Are you taking it to learn absolutely everything you can from it? Are you taking it just to pass and get the certification? Are you taking it as a refresher? Are you taking it for the projects and labs to put on your resume?

    I completed my masters in 2020 . Now i want to start my career so i'm looking for data analyst from google . Is it helpful or not?

      Is it helpful to learn Data Analytics? Yes. Is it helpful to land a job as a Data Analyst in Google considering you have a masters? Probably not. If you already learned SQL, R, BI and how to navigate data, I think you won’t really get that much value from this course
