    Really well done, totally worth the subscription. Quick question: How much time went by from the last tuck to when you turned it over to cut the lap?

      Thanks mate, i appreciate the kind words. Im using UV resin with a dash of MEKP to ensure thorough curing with the tinted resin and also to aid in curing the waste in the studio (perpetually wet resin will get everwhere) but it is really the UV cat that is doing the job. I use the recommended ratio so it goes off fairly quick but depends on how much sun there is at the time. Longer if its overcast or cloudy, quicker if its full sun. On average id say only about 5-10 minutes before i could trim the laps. Hope that helps🤙🏽

    i really want to try this setup but was thinking the fins would be opposite, but makes more sense to put split keel on the longer side. did you save color for the bottom or did it just happen to blend well so you can't see the initial lap lines?

    • @boccatxrx5023
      @boccatxrx5023 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one is laminated in reverse (top first) in a milk coffee type colour but yeah, if you want top and bottom to match then mix enough coloured resin for the deck and bottom👍🏼
      Yeah, the board that inspired this was a Thomas shape and he has the split keel on the short side. To me its like youre counteracting the effects of a shorter rail line on that side with the longer fin base... so i kept the shorter fin base on the shorter rail side. This one is set up goofy for me so shorter rail on the heel because i seem to drive harder off my toe side but its probably just as enjoyable surfed regular. By far my favorite board, wish id made it 10 years ago👍🏼🍻.

    Really nice work and the finished board turned out great! Quick question: How did you cut the laps on the bottom given that you are using an opaque resin? Can you still barely see the tape line through the resin or are you just eyeballing it?

      @@cantigasurfco.8549 nice, do you have problem about the sandpaper clogging up? are you based in SA?

    • @cantigasurfco.8549

      @@6to6surf4 I don't have that issue likely because of the paper. I use SIA brand paper (Siaflex 1948) because that's what we used at TGL when I worked there. It's top notch gear and I find it on Ebay for a great price. I suspect if your paper is clogging it's probably not the best kind... I'll have an in-depth vid on sanding some time soon, maybe it could help...

    why do you make the deck before to Bottom

    • @boccatxrx5023
      @boccatxrx5023 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesnt matter which is done first really except grinding the decks laps on the bottom is a bit more critical when the edge is on foam... not really an issue though when youve done it a million times. In this case its just an aesthetic choice- i just wanted the bottom to not have the lap line😃👌🏼🍻

    Not as likely with a short, wide board. But never seen a longboard with the cloth pulled diagonal that didn’t get end eventual twist in it. Lowel
