  • This is catalyzed polyester resin 8 oz with 10cc of mekp catalyst at 80°F so a pretty fast set and you can see that there is more than enough time to get it all done

      @@kazumasurfboards This made complete sense to me. I worked factory hot coating for a bit and that's what made this click for me. Funny I found this because I have been planning on doing my own completes. The laminating and the fin boxes are what has held me up. Thanks again man. Cheers

      @@joeblow1942 I tried it just once coz, I didn't have time to make boards. With epoxy it's not a big deal to glass, even for a long board u'll have plenty of time. But with this method, I'm 100% sure that the shaped blank, will suck enough resin and wont delaminate.

    Thank you for the countless tips, I was wondering, would you make any changes for epoxy and is there a reason you're using warp apposed to e or s glass?

    • @kazumasurfboards
      @kazumasurfboards  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Epoxy would be the same method and warp is the best cloth for my conditions here because I need the extra break resistance without the weigh that warp provides.

    That’s amazing! Thank you. A question, please…. Will this work just as well using EPOXY and 6 Oz cloth on EPS?
    EDIT: In another comment he said it works with epoxy and really well with tint too. Don’t know about using 6 oz cloth and EPS yet though.

    Would this work with tint cut lap?

    • @kazumasurfboards
      @kazumasurfboards  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes it works the same on a cut lap and is magical on a color resin tint lamination because the saturation. Is really even and won't leave the wavy discoloration that you see when you over squegee it.

    Super! I'm currently making a handful of boards after only ever having made a dozen, the last one being 30 yrs ago. 2 days ago I had to strip a lam off because it kicked before I had the rails wet out and down (I misread the uv directions by a factor of x10 haha). I did ok with my next try last night, but since one of the shapes is in EPS foam, I'm gonna have your heart attack unless I can double speed my game. Your method looks like a real viable alternative and I will try it on the other boards first (the epoxy last). However, since I'm double glassing the decks: How does this method work for 2 layers - just paint it a bit thicker initially? Thanks so much for this vid!

    • @kazumasurfboards
      @kazumasurfboards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually on the deck you would put down the 1st layer and trim it 1st. Then you could paint on the resin then pull the 2nd layer on like this
