Great to see TATA again leading from the front. Convenience of an AMT with the efficiency of CNG is pretty tempting. Even they thought about the space saver tyre, which they could have easily not given stating that cylinders have occupied the space, good going TATA. I had a petrol 2002 Qualis till the end. Got it retrofitted with CNG in 2014, I had the average of 12 kms during summer of Delhi with AC n 14-16 kms/kg in winter. The point is I was strongly suggested to drive last few kilometers of the day while heading home to switch on to petro mode for lubrication n keep the injectors clean, which I did n never had any issues of any sort.
Not really, despite tank’s capacity being 14 kg, it was placed beneath the third row bench seat so there was still 18 inches width for two midsize suitcases n if you fold down the backrest of the bench seat voila you had almost 700 lit. space. This Qualis was a top end variant with second row pilot seats.
From what I recall, it was initially intended to be named the Zica, and Tata invested significantly in branding and visibility. Then, in an unfortunate twist of fate that severely impacted their marketing efforts, there was an outbreak of the Zika virus in India, forcing them to start over from scratch. They eventually settled on the name Tiago. This decision might also be related to Messi being their brand ambassador, as "Tiago" is the Portuguese variation of his son's name, I believe.

The thing Kartikey is referring to as the amount of energy per unit volume of CNG or petrol is packing, is called 'Calorific value' in nerd terms. It has a relation with density also, and it works like density too, (per unit of volume has how much mass, for calorific value it's per unit of volume has how much energy packed in)
@@motorinc as they are different states of matter, I don't know what will be the exact unit of calorific value. As to compare with liquid petrol, CNG has to be under very high pressures to be in a liquid state. Otherwise we cannot compare. Like CNG as a gas has a density of 7kg/m3 whereas petrol while liquid is like 700kg/m3. But looking at the milage numbers, the ratio of calorific values is roughly like 2/3rds of the petrol. So it depends a whole lot on the pressure in which the CNG is at. I may be wrong. Someone reading this can correct me if I'm wrong.
CNG availability is a real issue on highway connecting Pune and Kolhapur. Although almost 7-8CNG fuel pumps are present, almost none will have CNG available post 5pm
Well for 10:30, I guess its not that tricky, I would just wait for CNG to get over and as per the official range it will going to be less than 300 kms anyways and then use Petrol to find the next nearest CNG pump :)

When this started, I liked Kartikey for the balanced approach. But now I have become fan of Shumi's blunt comments and sarcasm. The way he took a dig on EV industry at start and then gave it back for the CX pain on seatbelts.. just awesome. You should seriously start consulting companies on CX. Bdw, I have observed that CNG network is not great once you start going down the Maharashtra towards South. Only NH4 has few pumps. Kolhapur one also recently became online I believe.. otherwise there were huge queues. And down till Kanyakumari you have very sparse network compared to north.

I think my dad’s Brezza (the new one zxi) also doesn’t have it and so we ware having problems with the auto start stop system, and because we don’t drive much the hybrid battery is also not that charged which what the reason told to us by the service centre I too don’t like the beeps at 80 and 120 😢
I own a cng baleno, and considering the point of running for 10kms in petrol after running 300 kms in cng kinda defeats the purpose of being seamless in background. If I start my car everyday and just go, my car would automatically switch from petrol to cng without me being worried about gumming of fuel injectors. While the solution implemented by Tata would make a user conscious that "oh i need to switch to petrol" and manually switch to petrol.
Is the hill hold not given in this car is a con? As in metro cities like mumbai pune in heavy traffic on elevation this would create a problem. Is creep function enough to climb a elevation from still stop,? Pls reply sir
Got Tiago CNG MT-Dual cylinder version[I booked the day it was announced 😹😹].It’s been 4 months now and clocked around 9000 kms. I would say this car is best for city and in highways I didn’t find it difficult as well. Steering and Suspension top notch. So answering to the big question on Mileage I was getting : In highways (Same gear driving): 33-34 km/kg , In city : 24-26 km/kg and In Bumper to Bumper (Not likely to happen always but I live in Bangalore) : 18-20 km/kg
The queue at the CNG pumps are directly proportional to the filling pressure available at that pump (excluding the pumps in outside city limits). If pressure is above 200bar, we get more Kilos of CNG in tank. If pressure is low then people avoid going to those pumps.
Hello again....if you have not already done, may I request you to do a video on CNG technology, what we can expect, who it is best suited for (from this video I understood that it is a family car, means slow and steady wins the race types), More importantly safety aspects related to CNG. Basically one top notch video where people who are looking for alternate fuels should be able to decide whether they should opt for CNG or not.

In Pune I never suffer for cng, most of the time there is no waiting, sometime there is a queue of 1 or 2 cars, that's it. I own a 2nd hand sx4 vxi 2008 model with retro fitted authorized cng kit, I am getting 20 km/kg in city and 25 on highway.
The reason the cylinder is in litres @Shumi is that is volume. The reason the gas cannot be in litres is and has to be kgs because the pressure of the gas varies pump to pump. When you are filling Petrol pressure is not a variable. That's also why your home gas cylinder is kgs. PV=nRT is you remember your high school science!
Great content motorinc. Very lucid yet comprehensive.👍🏽👍🏽👽The seemingly deliberate omissions of load sensors in the rear seat is a really sneaky attempt to cost cut… a trend that was set forth by Suzuki and is now being lapped up by other manufacturers. It reminded of a point that Schumi rightly pointed out about scooped out seats not becoming a norm fast enough. A true irony of sorts where manufacturers decide to pick and choose only the annoying Easter eggs to implement in their line of products.. 😬
I wasn't too interested in the car but I just wanted to see Shumi asking and Kartikeya answering for once! Feels a little awkward but its great😀 Note: I usually just watch the 2 wheeler episodes
Hello! They both do a job. The oil does lubricate but it also goes to more places than just the cylinder. It also helps take away heat from the cylinder. The fuel does the same on the inside.
Tiago is a common south american name and yes petrol mode is peppy, one thing though it is comfortable for 5,11 rider lioe me just the headroom at front is lesser, i have done a 700 km straight 14 hour ride with two 1 hour stops in between over decent highway roads and no issues whatsoever in terms of back ache or soreness along with family❤❤ not to mention the metal and bumper plastic quality is way hard than normal maruti or hyundai cars

Tata's motor car division sonetimes feels like a recently formed start-up.. where they are striving really hard to keep quality control in check.. Inconsistent pannel gaps, misaligned panels, fit and finish issues, refinement issues, quirky issues relating to electricals and mechanicals etc. I absolutely have no idea why Tata can't fix these niggling issues in the first place, with the kind of resources they have. These issues do hamper ownership experience and their brand reputation too.. Tata really needs to up their quality control and quality assurance game much like they have upped and aced the safety game. Tiago Cng makes for a very sensible choice as a city car which is quite usable on the highway too, given it's got a good sense of security by the way it rides and handles..compared to its completion. But the niggles do pull it down in terms of peace of mind. If Tata gets this aspect sorted, the Tiago will be one of the no-brainer choices in its segment.
Could you give us the top five CNG vehicles that the team believes should be tested before a final decision is made? remembering that the car is meant for a small family.
Hi, Can you give comparison between Tiago CNG AMT(XT) vs EV LR(XT). As both of giving Range of 200km and mine running is 100km per day . For which should i go for?
Does CNG run a bit leaner too? Im assuming it would run richer than usual because of the lesser energy density of it unlike diesels where its leaner and the compression ratio is higher too which allows for better fuel efficiency. I have answered my own question haven't i

Good to know PI! Shumi is ❤️.
Let’s see how the network expands. Thanks for keeping us posted!
Why these podcast are so addictive 😖, just want to listen them whole day🌼💞
What an episode, so good, so much fun, always love the banter and the points Shumi and Karthik make. Loved this episode so much. I have a big 7 Seater, and don't need to know about this small car at all, but man what a great episode. Cheers to the motor inc team for a great episode.
Cars apart I like your fashion sense Karthik and the oversized t shirts...mind sharing the store name 😊
Well ask him! And, thanks!
I think my dad’s Brezza (the new one zxi) also doesn’t have it and so we ware having problems with the auto start stop system, and because we don’t drive much the hybrid battery is also not that charged which what the reason told to us by the service centre
I too don’t like the beeps at 80 and 120 😢
I own a cng baleno, and considering the point of running for 10kms in petrol after running 300 kms in cng kinda defeats the purpose of being seamless in background.
I own Tiago AMT. Why I haven't watched this before so hilarious 😂 New Subscriber 😅
Welcome aboard @allOizzOwell! Glad you're enjoying the MotorInc experience.
Got Tiago CNG MT-Dual cylinder version[I booked the day it was announced 😹😹].It’s been 4 months now and clocked around 9000 kms. I would say this car is best for city and in highways I didn’t find it difficult as well. Steering and Suspension top notch. So answering to the big question on Mileage I was getting : In highways (Same gear driving): 33-34 km/kg , In city : 24-26 km/kg and In Bumper to Bumper (Not likely to happen always but I live in Bangalore) : 18-20 km/kg
where do you fill up in CNG? I rarely have seen CNG bunks near Nayandahalli where I live
Woah! That’s pretty solid efficiency! Thanks for that SR! Wish you awesome travels with it.
The queue at the CNG pumps are directly proportional to the filling pressure available at that pump (excluding the pumps in outside city limits).
If pressure is above 200bar, we get more Kilos of CNG in tank. If pressure is low then people avoid going to those pumps.
Thanks for letting us know Siddarth!
Can do! Thanks PK!
@@motorinc thats great!
Following this channel for motivation to buy a car.
I love the way u guys have a conversation around a car.
Glad to know you enjoyed it!
Man Shumi is so good!!! A video with so much bang on Information, plus the fun banter which keeps you entertained and interested and in the end of the video you learn so much and have fun along with it. Way above any other review videos or formats across the globe. And I watch alot of them when i say that. Keep it up team
Hey OP! So awesome to hear that from you! ❤️
I don't see too long queues for CNG in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Things have gotten much better now.
Awesome! So you have a CNG?
@@motorinc No. But couple of my friends do. I own a couple of 8-9 year old diesels(me & my dad). Both cars have clocked over 2 lac kms. Maybe it's time to switch to CNG AMT, give our left knee some respite 😊
Love that you are doing more podcasts. Happy to listen❤
Thanks for being here with us!
Tiago CNG AMT or Tiago EV XT+LR which make more sense ? Price of both cars are almost same price same range. Thanks for the help
I too have the same query.
Any one got the answer?@@mathaijoel
Shumi is always in banter mode while doing car reviews.. and dead serious while talking about bikes.. :D
You think he is biased? 🤣
@@motorinc he agreed in the video.. right??? 🤣
Here in J&K, there are no CNG stations. Maybe due to CNG's lack of power in the hills. Maybe the Jammu region can have CNGs but people generally prefer an economical petrol car or directly get an EV.
Makes sense, at higher altitudes it will struggle more. Thanks for sharing Ayush! Which city are you in?
@@motorinc Jammu. It's relatively plain in Jammu City. However the altitude starts to climb quickly when one follows NH44 towards Srinagar.
♥️
Yes, less interruptions by shumi this time. And summary too 💯. So when is ThisConnect S02 up🙌
How can we distract you for now!
I waited for 30 mins for filling cng in punk...yes i get out for filling petrol punk... waiting 30 mins at midnight 2:00 AM is crazy...i was returning from Airpoyto home in Gurgaon
i just had a request. Can Kartikeya Sir make a small episode about his experience on his Hayabusa? Its a dream bike for many and me as well. would be awesome.
Fantastic podcast as usual! Just wanted to know - do both of you reply to comments on behalf of MotorInc? Or do you have a person hired for the same?
It’s a very intelligent bot. 😬
Hey Krishna! Kartikeya and Shumi both respond to comments, as well as other members of the team. There's no one hired just for the comments though
@@motorinc😂😂
5:12 pressure sensor, its seems like shumi turned to gabbar and 'the guy' is Thakur, ye hatt muje de de moment 😂
15:12 great qus and great try by karthi, but we know shumi, he will not get satisfied, he will go to the core for the ans. That's attitude we need 🔥🔥🥳
❤️❤️
In Pune I never suffer for cng, most of the time there is no waiting, sometime there is a queue of 1 or 2 cars, that's it. I own a 2nd hand sx4 vxi 2008 model with retro fitted authorized cng kit, I am getting 20 km/kg in city and 25 on highway.
Thanks so much AS for sharing your motoring life! That is helpful.
Hello again! The point is when the cylinder is being offered to an end consumer - it could be simplified. Right?
I love the in between jokes. I love these kind of funny conversations where viewers get entertain and also gain useful knowledge. 😇👍🏻
Thanks for that P! Glad to hear it.
Tata should call up Shumi while adding anything to the name of the car for suggestions 😉
What about electronics like ESC, Traction control and modes are available?
Great content motorinc. Very lucid yet comprehensive.👍🏽👍🏽👽The seemingly deliberate omissions of load sensors in the rear seat is a really sneaky attempt to cost cut… a trend that was set forth by Suzuki and is now being lapped up by other manufacturers. It reminded of a point that Schumi rightly pointed out about scooped out seats not becoming a norm fast enough. A true irony of sorts where manufacturers decide to pick and choose only the annoying Easter eggs to implement in their line of products.. 😬
Thank you so much UB! Let’s hope the trend reverses itself.
Please also do the review for tata altroz
We want to!
I kinda enjoy Shumi's interruptions though. They add a quirk to the conversation.
I wasn't too interested in the car but I just wanted to see Shumi asking and Kartikeya answering for once! Feels a little awkward but its great😀
Note: I usually just watch the 2 wheeler episodes
Fair enough! Thanks for the feedback.
If petrol is lubricating the engine, why are we filling the engine oil? Do sports cars also have this issue? Cold start and stuff?
Hello! They both do a job. The oil does lubricate but it also goes to more places than just the cylinder. It also helps take away heat from the cylinder. The fuel does the same on the inside.
When will we get Thisconnect season 2?? eagerly waiting for “what are the japanese upto” episode pls bring it
😆😆
@@motorinc Please tell me its in pipeline🙏🙏
Time well spent. Enjoyed the review.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
First Mover Advantage is Tata Motor's forte. Finishing the race is another story (ref.Sumo, Indica, Nano et al).
😔 Sad. But true.
Please do FAQs on the electric version of Tiago and Tigor.
Thanks for sharing HV! Awesome to hear about your trip and the feedback.
Is Tiago, Petrol a reliable car to have? If all basic maintenece checks are taken care of regulary? I want to buy a new car and my budget is not allowing me go beyonf 7 lakh on road and want to keep car for 10-15 years at least.
Can be, Ashwani, but Tata cars generally have small issues that are a near-constant in the ownership experience.
@motorinc Will try Magnite and then decide, thanks for the response.
In my city there was no cng pump.
The first one is will be set to operate this month they say
Yes so finally!
It will be worth to buy a cng vehicle
My city Akola , Maharashtra
Tiago is a name that indicates strength and resilience. This variation of the more formal-sounding Santiago means “May God protect.” While its religious connotations may not be for everyone, it has a Portuguese lilt that just rolls off the tongue
Hullo!
Spot on! The 30-35 year old start up.
You are not discussing about the complexity of remove the spare tyre and replacing of the same and testing the AIR of spare tyre.
What would you like to know, @sivaramakrishnadavuluru?
Could you give us the top five CNG vehicles that the team believes should be tested before a final decision is made? remembering that the car is meant for a small family.
What budget would you be looking at? And what needs as such? Usage?
Hey Karthik, do you think the CVT in honda cars is a good option for a CNG A/T car?
Very much.. it’s a very efficient transmission. Would be a great combo.
Tiago CNG AMT JTP FTW!! 🎉
😂😂
Any idea till when can next generation of tiago be launched?
As current version is now very old as it was launched in 2016
We don’t want to guess. But, it’s long overdue.
Hi, Can you give comparison between Tiago CNG AMT(XT) vs EV LR(XT). As both of giving Range of 200km and mine running is 100km per day . For which should i go for?
Could you do a review of fronx hybrid. Is it any good to consider?
Seatbelt beeps without pressure sensors is also unsafe. People will put it in once and then will never bother about it.
Exactly!
Hi,
As you mentioned this CNG Tiago is good for cities so does it mean the regular Tiago is not good for Highways ?
No, the Tiago CNG has lower power. In petrol mode it has more but still not as much as the petrol-only Tiago. Hence the difference.
Thanks for the response 😊
Hai sir,,tiago cng or punch ev which is the better .pls
Does CNG run a bit leaner too? Im assuming it would run richer than usual because of the lesser energy density of it unlike diesels where its leaner and the compression ratio is higher too which allows for better fuel efficiency.
I have answered my own question haven't i
Calculating…..
Pls sir,, tiago cng amt or punch ev which is the better...
What is the cost involving in filling twin cng cylinders
I want your opinions with prolonged usage of cng cars, does it compromise the car chasis which supports the cng taken in boot. I believe in rough road use it might pierce the underbody and compromise the safety of car. Does in cng car the car body below the tank is reinforced?
You don’t need to worry about that. The tanks are tested for those scenarios and have multiple safe release mechanisms.
is the alignment thing refering to the old velar screen? it was tiltable and very odd at every angle
Nope - to the Nexon… check out the MotorInc First about that.
Shumi should do standup comedy.
Really enjoying the conversations you two have
😅
Could you please review Altroz as well 😅
I think that “Tiago” name was chosen when Leo Messi joined TATA as its Global Ambassador.Messi’s son name is “Tiago”. I read it somewhere, not sure 100%
Google, here we come!
Messi’s son is Thiago
Speaking of premium CNGs, there are two pseudo suvs. Hyryder/vitara cng. But they are not available on top variants.
Yep..
Just worried that AMT of iCNG will reduce mileage ...is it so?
Tiago is Lionel Messi son's name and Messi was the Ambassador for Tiago promotion. TIAGO was first named as Zica and then Zica virus came. Then the name was changed.
