bless those kinds of people, I remember one of mine being so charismatic, chill and peace loving person. We were together along with 4 people from 7th grade up to grade 10, It would've went on until I notice he started getting more and more family problems that he opens at me from time to time (at which it became gradually worrisome) and little do I know, he would suddenly cut contact with everyone he knows once he transferred schools after our grade 10 graduation.
Til this day, I hope he would someday open up to me again and meet one another but until then I hope he manages to keep it cool.

Marco’s last words, “we haven’t even talk this through yet” resonate within me as he was my favourite character. I will aspire to always hear people’s side of the story, and be more like him from now on and so forth.

I often wonder was that done intentionally, those words are kind of a theme for where the story has developed to now, armin has often suggested doing such a thing in various parts of the story but it’s always trumped by the others acting off of their own impulses usually fear or anger
@@J_Sovereign i believe so, i think that is was to represent the circle of hatred, revenge and power that resides in many of isayama’s characters; how it can manipulate those who fail to see that it will continue should they go down the same path as those that preceded them.
i believe that isayama’s intention was to tell us that unless someone puts a stop the violence, the events to occur will only be the same as those before.

Marco literally had the most impactful idea in AoT that people in that universe don’t understand. They just have to talk & understand. Something Paradi eldians & the rest of the world never did.
Unfortunately, the ignorance of that simple yet revolutionary idea isn't just confined to the universe of AoT/SnK 😔

This dude gave Jean a reason to join Survey Corps, gave Reiner split personality, gave Annie and Bertholdt guilt that almost broke them, because of his gear Annie was caught and because of Annie, Reiner and Bertholdt were caught.
So yeah despite having less screen time this guy had a huge impact on the story if it weren't from maybe warriors would've succeeded.

In one of the most recent episodes when they were rescued, Onyakopon asks Jean why he didn’t stay and enjoy a lavish lifestyle. Jean answered “If I did, those ashy bones would never forgive me”…
What strikes me was how the last time Jean ever saw of Marco were his remains being cremated, some of which were presumably Marco’s being held in his hand, and to this day that still leaves such an enormous impact on him. Jean had the freedom to choose and stay behind, and he still had conflicts, but it was ultimately the potential Marco saw in him that motivated Jean to grow and live with purpose.
You’d think that Marco died in vain, yet he ended up bringing the best out of Jean, and breaking Reiner to the point of suicide (yet he can still be redeemable)
Such a great character.
It is unbelievably mindblowing how this show makes even the dead people have so much impact to the story.Their lines hold so much meaning and truth to them
Marco died in season ONE that was in real life nine years ago and his words were one if not THE most meaningful and logical words out of every character in the series

I always wondered why Marco was such a big deal but the OVA where Historia was captured by human traffickers really showed how level headed Marco was. Wish we had more episodes with Marco.
Rewatching AoT and I keep forgetting Marco, yet the characters keep hyping him up.

He was in the MPs with Hitch and left to join the scouts reclaim shinganshina and he said that as he thought about Hitch and what she was doing at the moment which was prolly laying in bed. And he asked himself why he’s thinking of that at a time like this, right before his death.

Marco's that one dude you knew in your childhood but died early and tragic, and you always wonder what if he's still around as you grow up without him.
Marco’s impact on the story, despite his death so early on, shows the brilliance of Ishyama’s writing skills.
I find it actually interesting how someone who seems to fully understand most characters in the show and is able to make analysis videos on them misses the point on Bertholdt so much. Looking forward to a video on him to see how you actually think.
It's also worth mentioning how big of an impact Marco's death had on Jean's character. He's the whole reason Jean chose to join the survey corps or why he became a leader role. Often before he makes decisions he thinks of what Marco would think about it, like we saw last episode. And they often make references to Jean still missing him, like kissing the very hand he held Marco's ashes in before fighting the female titan (i think it was the episode 'female titan'?), i really liked that detail.
Wtf is up with the Bertholdt hate? He definitely showed more remorse for his actions than What's-her-face. She literally toyed with the people she killed like it was a game.

@@jacobm6617 Yeah but unlike the others who actually acknowledged the f@@ked up things they did and even showed some form of regret, Annie didn't show any of this and even said she'll do it all over again just so daddy's little girl can live happily ever after with her dad in Marley. I felt more sympathy towards Daz and Samuels (side characters who mostly appeared innthe background and in 1 to 2 episodes) then towards Annie.

Honestly, I really like Bherdolt. He just seemed like a quiet guy that trusted Reiner and was forced into this ever since he was a kid. He also cried for Marco, not just Annie. What he said when kidnapping Eren was tragic. He was really just a victim of circumstance who only ever followed Reiner’s example.

Why does SeaTactics hate Berthold so much? Like he is clearly a flawed character but I don’t see how he is any worse than Annie or Reiner.
Marco has been my biggest love, when I noticed his friendship with Jean I knew he was going to play a big role(didn’t think he’d die tho). So sad that he was a fallen soldier, he was so kind and level headed, very much like Armin. When his death happened in trost I really though it was just another unimportant titan kill that was bestowed to lots of other characters during the battle, but knowing how IMPORTANT it was, he was there by mere fate and unluckily enough to overhear. He didn’t deserve it and he definitely would’ve still been alive if it weren’t for the 3, he was one of the top ten cadets, he had the skills just like our favorites. I think about him every day

Don’t do Bertholdt like that, he deserves as much sympathy as people do it with Annie and Reiner. The little screen time he had, he was one of the best written characters with the most potential. Out of all of the warriors he was given the less time to shine, but that doesn’t make him less tragic than the others, he didn’t want to kill innocents. If we are being honest the one with less empathy out of all of the warriors was probably Annie.
They all have no sympathy, they attacked a wall full of innocent civilians at the cost of causing a global scale genocide

Bertholdt had a quick death while marco had much slower death. I'm pretty sure marco was eaten slowly from the half head,back,arms. I'm ready for this conversation. Zeke didn't just kill Scouts, he killed Connie's entire village and parts of other countries all for the purpose of making his own people celibate. Zeke has yet to show any remorse for killing not only his own people, but betraying people who trusted him as well. He also is not his own person. His dream is all he is and without it, Zeke is nothing.
Annie has guilt. She listened to Armin and Hitch along with others chastise her and probably threaten her life. It is deserved mind you, but when she finally is out she is reminded of the evil she's done and look where it got her. Trapped in a crystal and now the only family she has is going to die with the rest of the world. Also, she is just as brainwashed as Gabi and the rest of them. People can forgive Annie because she was being groomed from birth by her dad to be a Warrior. Again, that does not excuse her actions. But she explains to Hitch she does feel bad for what she's done. She wants to change for the better. That coming from the girl that stomped on Scouts and tossed them around is a huge character moment but people can't see that because they have so much hate for a character they haven't even seen in four years. The whole point of the story is to look beyond your hate for someone to see who they really are.
Annie is not a monster she BECAME a monster like Armin, Levi, Erwin, need I say more?

And they had no idea that the people in Paradis were not devils or evil, they were literally brainwashed to not see Eldians in Paradis as human.
Bertholdt was well aware of the futility of his own actions, so decided that there was no longer a reason to try and resist

I really like Marco. I’ve always believed to myself that he was an important character despite his short time alive. When I met his voice actor for the English dub all I could do was talk about him lol.
I couldn't agree more with this entire summary. Marco was an extremely underrated character by so many due to his death so early in the series. I made a lot of speculations myself, contemplating "What If" he had never met such an unfortunate death, he never had to in the first place.I think with his ability to keep such a level head in the face of adversity he could have very well been even a bigger character like another "Erwin Smith" that no one saw coming. All of these characters changed so much throughout the series. I seriously believe we could have very well seen a "Captain or Commander Boht".....What's say you?
Whilst this was about Marco I’d strongly disagree with what you said about Bertholt. In my opinion he carries a lot to what most people think. If you think about it, him and Armin are quite similar in terms of personality.

Man this video cuts deep, Marco was immediately the character who I gravitated towards when I first watched AoT, that background guy who still did his part and made a positive impact on the people around him. He was just a genuine guy like Falco and not many others, so when he died I was absolutely devastated, and still am to this day. Ended up making Erwin my next favourite and we all know how well that went..... But to have videos like this, and to have flashbacks to him this season, especially this latest episode really gives me closure and happiness to know that not only are people like Marco and Erwin not forgotten, but they are still relevant and their lives and deaths have such a real impact on the people and world around them. It's great. Their deaths had meaning. This latest episode has to be one of my favourites this season just for the respect that it has for current and past characters.

But in the battle in shinganshina right before he transformed he states that "whatever happens I can live with it" which implies is willing to kill all his friends to rescue annie
@@weirdart1638 this is wrong btw. He wasn’t doing it for Annie. Bertholdt joined the warriors to take care of his father. He didn’t want them to die and the end before he died, he accepted that they needed to be killed. Even if the warriors didn’t kill them, Marley still was gonna eventually go after Paradis, Bertholdt knew that. He knows his friends were innocent, he tells them, but he had no other choice. He evens says “ you are not devils, you don’t deserve to die , but that’s how it’s gonna be”. He was just a soldier who was gonna finish a mission.
It's crazy how many of the cadets have died, I never would've guessed Conny would be part of the ending cast
I really wish Marco had a bit more screen time in the first half of season 1. I watch a lot of reactors of the show and most forget who he his or at least took them a minute to realize. I feel like his impact would be felt more throughout the series if we just spent more time with him.

there have been a lot of character deaths in aot that have affected me emotionally, which is great, but marco was different. from his first appearances to the OADs to his mention in the final season he’s been a light in the darkness that is this anime. and it makes me genuinely sad to think that he’s not around anymore. great writing i love it

I think Marco would have become a leader in the Capital by Season 4 after all the coups.
He would have tried to talk to Marley to prevent war and AoT would have been a much shorter story and the Rumbling wouldn't have happened.
Actually it would NOT matter because most political leaders and the public don't even recognize eldians as humans especially the ones on paradise island and lastly during the four years the scouts tried to find peace solutions but found nothing while the rumbling is pretty much the only trump card the eldians have considering their poor military and ancestral reputations
I'm super late, but you're kinda wrong about the rumbling. The rumbling was always destined to happen, even when eren was a little kid. Moreover, eren legit said that he tried EVERYTHING to prevent the rumbling from happening. You're right about Marco being a leader, but the rumbling would make no difference on this scenario if this happened.
What's interesting is how how Marco's death is so strikingly similar to Marcel's, and this is part of why Rainer takes it so hard, as he was friends with both, and was largely responsible for both. In many ways both of their deaths shaped not only Rainer, Annie, and Bertholdt, but also the story at large.

Same like we all were too busy with eren Mikasa and Armin and the entire set up in general to have developed a bond that strong.

Marco's impact still resounds thoughout the whole story, and is still strong enough as to motivate Jean... he can even do that in death. Jean's leadership was born of Marco's honesty and friendship, his decision to join the SC even. Marco was key to modern Jean's portrayal.
I also feel like Hanji had a role in this too... They too were faced with these doubts and made them seem normal to Jean, to a point where Hanji achieved convincing him of the need of an alliance, but most importantly to fight genocide.
I really hope you do one of these about Hanji! Their character is so underrated, yet they rose up to the situation and formed the alliance, but I feel like they don't get any credit for this. And they've had such great character development, that I don't understand how they're not more valued. When they did their speech on how genocide is wrong and thought about all their fallen comrades, it was such a commander moment.

why would the warriors have joined the scouts if Marco lived? I think the real hypothetical would be, what if they didn't catch him and he was able to tell the rest of the team what was really going on.

Tbh Marco was my favorite character, when he died i started crying for the whole night, it could have been different. I was happy to see one scene of him in season 4 though. I balled my eyes out.
When watching the episode i immediatly started thinking about this too. I genuinly think marco is the most influential character in the whole of aot bc of ONE LINE and i think thats awesome!!

Almost makes you wonder if Isayama always wanted Marco to be among our main cast but just nearly missed the cut, his close friendship with Jean, who Isayama is also very fond of as a character and how his death continues to impact the characters, it really does feel like he should've been alongside the main crew all the way up to now.
Marco actually did believe the conversation between Reiner and bertolt because at that point he had already seen Erin turn into a Titan. He just played it off like he didn't believe them. He was on his way to tell the others whenever they killed him.

Impact of Marco would’ve lead to him alerted everyone about suspicions and after they learned that Annie was a female titan they would definitely pinned Reiner and Berubolu immediately
With his mind a lot of plans that were made by Armin would turns out differently either. But Armin will always be the latest Commander, not Marco
