It's great that you guys are planning on implementing MPE... this will be a game changer, making it easier for anyone to play in whatever tuning they wish. Very much looking forward to this upgrade!

For N-TET, I use 0 to N-1; 0 is the note A, and the channel number is the octave.

Ok so I look at the FAQ on the Lumatone site re mpe and midi 2. Has midi 2 but not mpe. Also read for midi 2 they are working on it. Don’t want to use Pianoteq but instead Ableton Live instrument set, microtonal is one of the things besides the isomorphic layout. Also do not want to be tied down to one synth like Surge. So a demo of Lumatone with Ableton Live would be great. Great video set, much appreciated.

I've asked before, but any chance we could get a mode that suppresses note-off events when one key is released while a second key for the same channel and note number is still depressed? I'd like to be able to simulate a Janko-style behavior within a channel and when using multichannel higher-EDO mappings.

MPE support will be interesting to see so the Lumatone could support all the MPE synths in Ableton Live/Max. Sure the Lumatone wotks fine for 12 tet in Ableton without per note pitch bends, but need that MPE for the per note pitch. Any hints on when MPE will be supported?

It’s not entirely MIDI note numbers, actually. The Lumatone can also, in some cases at least, communicate by channel number.
Simplistic example: you can play in quartertones (24TET, 24EDO) by mapping an ordinary 12TET piano sound to channel 1, and a second instance of that same piano sound tuned a quartertone higher, on channel 2. You can remap the keys on the Lumatone to alternate between channels.

I long for the day MIDI would grow up and allow me to play my Lumatone in 53-TET with range wider than like 2.5 octaves 😂

Using Pianoteq, one can have IIRC 10 channels of 128 notes each, so no worries with 5 octaves of any number up to 128 notes. (I regularly play in 53-equal, with naturals from A1 through to G6.

@@camtaylormusic Yeah! I've been wondering how to do that in stuff like kontakt and surge XT. I just don't know how to to change the octave on Kontakt and Pianoteq where the next channel plays a higher octave. If you have a suggestion lmk I'll be super grateful!

@@amj.composer Pianoteq added a setting pretty much just for us, in Tuning under Keyboard Mapping, called "Extended layout for up to 16*128 notes", hit "Multi-channel MIDI layout" to switch that on, and then select a "home channel" octave, where other octaves are derived from (for some reason I often have mine on 3)

@@camtaylormusic I use the same range (A1-G6), but I have one octave per channel, and one of the 56 keys in an octave a CC (except for the lowest octave, which has two additional CCs)
