Conversely, they speak about Messi like he was born with a gift but never had to work for it. Not only is it incorrect, it's disrespectful to both men, especially Messi. Because he has worked tirelessly to adapt his game as he's gotten older. Both are gifted and both have worked incredibly hard.

That injury had nothing to do with his "overrated" dribbling declining or whatever BS you wrote. Ronaldo is a goalscorer only. Never at one point has he been a better dribbler than Messi or a playmaker.
Everything else besides his goalscoring ability is overrated. He is not a T50 best passers OAT, not a T20 best dribbles OAT (even Hazard and Neymar are above him in dribbling), and not even a playmaker (sucks at playmaking).

This is why comparing stats between Messi and Ronaldo isn’t comparable, Messi played his whole career for one team in one league in the same positions, Ronaldo had to adapt not only to play in different positions, but more importantly had to adapt to playing in 3 different leagues, all of which are the best in the world. For comparison the one time Messi did leave Barcelona to a much inferior French league, is numbers plummeted, not even being on the top 10 top goal scorers of the French league, or even winning MVP of that league.

I agree but it's not just Ronaldo.
Portugal has had golden generations since the 90s. Figo, Rui Costa, João Pinto, Paulo Sousa, all were World Champions on the under 20 class.
It was just the full teams weren't there when they reached senior years.
When Portugal was european champion and later nations cup champions, you couldn't name a player in the starting team who wasn't a world class player. With probably the exception of Eder who actually scored the final goal for the euro champ, everyone else was the type of player that could make it in any team.
Ronaldo's winning mentality sure helped but the fact that there was an actual team behind him, was key.
Portugal has been creating top talent for a long time and only getting better over time, forming not just the skilked player up front but also playmakers, defenders, forwards, sidebacks, even goalkeepers (although this is not where it excels at they just need to get a couple of good ones).
Nowadays Robaldo has lost influence in the national team. You have players like Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leão, Gonçalo Ramos, Cancelo, Rúben Dias, António Silva, Vitinha, Diogo Costa, Félix, Gonçalo Inácio and so so many more who aren't even called for the main squad but are on the youth squad (João Neves is the next big thing).
It's crazy the ammount of talent such a tiny country has.

Yes they had great players here and there but nvr consistently and more importantly, never all in one generation at every positions. The first “Golden generation” is actually now. That’s mad. Only nw has the squad truly looked like potential World champs. I wld argue though when Ronaldo and Portugal won the Euros & Nations League, yes they had a team. But it’s raw. They still not polish yet. Young and potential. Ronaldo still had to carry them. He literally scored in every round at the euros except the final (coz he was unfortunately injured). What the video didn't mention was that Ronaldo began struggling psychologically outside the pitch as a result of him & Georgina, his girlfriend, losing their newborn son nearing the end of the 21/22 season, and right before the 22/23 season, his daughter fell ill which is why he missed out on 90% of United's pre-season. Instead of the club and Ten Hag, the coach, understanding his situation, it's almost like they didn't believe he was straying from pre-season because of his daughter's illness, which he mentioned in the Piers Morgan interview(y'all should react to that, or watch it on y'alls own perhaps).
He also had some injury due to which he also changed and changed his style. A lot of things weren’t mentioned, but overall video was pretty good

But because he didn't wanna let his nation down, it worsened the injury to the point it couldn't be healed anymore. He mentioned in his movie how he regretted going to that World Cup.
His performances on the pitch weren't too impacted btw, he played a few days after his son's passing and had one of his best games against Arsenal. He was still a monster on the pitch, struggling very much but recovering outside it tho
