Keogh was a taller version of Chopper Harris and should talk in very measured and thoughtful tones about giving attackers a gentle time because he rarely did within or outside the rules.
I watched Chopper Harris in driving snow take out a Tooting and Mitchum amateur winger with a sliding tackle that put the player out of the match. And that was a charity game!!! Todays players don’t realize how good they have it - by my calculation, Ska is getting fouled about once every quarter of a game. Hardly excessive- this is a non debate imo.
@@mikepearson3226 I watched Chopper regularly in the 60s as a boy, though I didn't support Chelsea. Every team had somebody like him: Utd had Foulkes and Stiles; Newcastle had Scoular; Spurs had Mackay and so on. I remember Harris trying to literally chop George Best into two at a night game at the Bridge. Best was entirely unfazed, and gave the entire Chelsea defence the run around, especially Ken Shellito marking him, and Chopper, who repeatedly attempted to kick Best into the terraces.( Actually into the greyhound track that encircled the pitch in those days.) Best was fearless and brilliant and the Chelsea crowd gave him a great ovation at the end.
Best was one of the greatest players I ever had the privilege to watch in the flesh. Brilliant player . I miss football in those times - on difficult surfaces in appalling weather . While it’s right to eliminate the violent tackles of those days , the game is completely different and worse for it.
Keown is absolutely right, players can do a couple of dirty fouls on Saka and yet not get booked. Hazard used to deal with that and look what happened to him since he moved to Madrid. Players need to protected, and refs can set the tone very early in the game. Stop hating on Arsenal and be objective.
Another stat they failed to mention: Most cards drawn in the Premier League this season (fouls won in brackets): 14 - Raheem Sterling (31) 9 - Morgan Gibbs-White (32) 8 - Josh Brownhill (18) 8 - Luis Díaz (22) 8 - Anthony Gordon (38) 7 - Phil Foden (33) 7 - Bukayo Saka (43) What this means is that you have to foul Saka SIX TIMES before a card is drawn. The other two guys on this programme are biased against Arsenal and it’s clear.
1. We didnt go to PGMOL there is a monthly meeting to speak about games. 2. He is kicked off the park but not all are given. 3. It takes more fouls on him before a card is given. 4. this isnt the 1st time a manager has complained about one of his players getting kicked. 5. Again we are being told we dont like to be kicked last time we got 2 broken ankles 1 broken leg, and a broken ankle and ligament damage that almost lost his foot.
@@tevildo45 total nonsense, at Chelsea he averaged 35 league games a year for 7 years. They did an article 5 years ago and hazard had been fouled 507 times in his Chelsea career. The next highest was Sterling with 362. He was kicked to pieces when he played in the premier league and never complained about it. And the reason he never got back to his best at Madrid was he broke his ankle and never recovered from it. This is well documented
Crystal Palace did the same with Zaha and nothing was done, Saka needs to give it back, I was only a Sunday league player but if someone was trying to intimidate me they were getting a taste of their own medicine at some point in that game
The way you guys gaslight Martin during these conversations is grotesque and painful to watch. You DO push a narrative and don't even attempt to understand both sides of the argument. His point that Saka be top of the list is based on his opinion that Saka is getting fouled without those fouls being given and therefore not being reflected in the statistics. Yes Simon, Martins opinion is subjective, but to pretend you're somehow the master of objectivity is, objectively, laughable.

Every 4 fouls on sake there is only 1 card, martin keown didn't prepared enough the arsenal complaints is it take so many fouls on saka to give, the argument is not he is most fouled player, jim and simon did dirty on martin, they have cleraly an agenda
@@LionKingMCFC appreciate the reply, all I’m saying is the number of fouls overall isn’t a relevant stat. I guess it can be true that it’s been perfect defending every game in some perfect scenario but I see most games there’s like 5/6 tactical fouls that will happen on saka with each defender taking one foul each then the first foul from an Arsenal player is an instant yellow & I’m kinda wondering if Saka is being treated differently to other players because of his competitive advantage over defenders (like the referee subconsciously ‘evening’ things out otherwise he will be blowing for a lot of saka free kicks). Just my opinion & would be happy to be proved wrong if someone actually looked into stats and told me how many fouls it takes on saka to get a yellow vs ayew or anybody else. Appreciate your view too tho 👍🏼
The other thing that Keown is failing to mention, is that Saka dives all the time. So does Sterling, Maddison, Kane etc. so when Keown says he watches the game, why does Keown fail to mention Saka's constant diving (or Jesus, Nkethia, Havertz)...ahhh, because no one in an Arsenal shirt dives...
Martin I love you for your time as a player at Arsenal. But this is a conversation that actually happened in real life. "Saka is the 3rd most fouled player after Ayew and Bruno" "By my interpretation, from watching football, Saka should be 1st"
I'd love to agree with Martin as a fellow Arsenal fan but...... I remember watching the Champions League from 09-15, Barcelona, Messi got fouled At Least 4 or 5 times before he'd get a free kick, more than half the time he'd be bleeding at the ankle. He never complained. Elite mentality. Saka will get there at some point.
The statistics are probably on actual given fouls, so you cant just go off of fouls alone, i watch arsenal and the amount of times he can get cleared out and nothing given is surprising, granted it doesn't help that arteta plays him almost every game
I never said I'm trying to form my own narrative, I'm just saying going off those stats alone doesn't count for a whole picture same could potentially be said for ayew and bruno, it was silly of arsenal to come out with a complaint about such a thing, yes saka may be getting fouled more but teams have also wised up to him, doubling up on him, getting their wingers to track back, or even just having to the centre back sit off a bit and jump in if he gets past the full back
No unfortunately iwo tracks back and makes challenges that's why he gets fouled more , could say the same for almost all players who play out on the wings, but it depends on how much they track back to where they are on the list , so players like Saka who play from inside his half gets fouled alot more than maybe a Salah he stands on the half way line , this is a silly debate anyway .
So Martin Keown, heard you love a good statistic: Ayew, Guimaraes and Saka have all played 19 games. Ayew: 65 fouls received (1st), 32 fouls committed (4th) for +33; Guimaraes: 53 FR (2nd), 30 FC (5th) for +23; Saka: 43 FR (3rd), 23 FC (11th) for +20. This would indicate not only does Saka play just as much on the edge as Ayew or Guimaraes but that on average Saka will foul more than get fouled compared to Ayew or Guimaraes. Now Martin, would you share the same opinion if Spurs approached the PGMOL for more protection of their players? Case in point. Spurs are statistically the most fouled team in the EPL this season with 292 fouls, 38 more than Aston Villa in 2nd place. Arsenal? 8th place with 215. Now compare Saka with the lack of protection Spurs' James Maddison (out with an ankle/foot injury) has received this season. Even after missing 8 matches, Maddison is still in 11th place, receiving 30 fouls. That's 2.73 per match compared to Saka at 2.26 per match. Yet Maddison has only committed 9 fouls (0.82 per match) compared to Saka (1.21 per match). Statistically, what if Maddison had completed all 19 matches this season? 51 fouls received, 15 committed for +36, nearly double Saka's +20. Why let statistics get in the way of your 'narrative', Martin?
They need to remove all discussions on Arsenal when Keown is in the studio, objectivity means nothing to him.

Ooooh but what about Jordan Ayew, does it really matter if he gets awarded them or if he doesn't. Think about it that PGMOL is a controlled dictatorship mafioso organization. Who has been influencing games since the mid 90s
So you think its a league wide conspiracy not to give fouls on saka and salah do you?
@@sofakingspurs When's the last time you remembered Salah to have dived? Simon Jordan mentions at every opportunity that Salah goes down like he's been shot every time he talks about him. While Kane, Grealish and co go down at every chance they get to get con a free kick. Shearer was up in arms about Jota the other day but calls Kane clever. I'm not a fan of either Arsenal or Liverpool. I just call out unconscious bias when I see it. And if you can't see it your one of them or worse.
@@franklinsaint84 Kane, grealish, salah and Saka all dive.
"Fulham were Bullying Arsenal" its called football you Numbty
This is why people hate arsenal fans 😂😂
Well said Simon! Martin has absolutely no argument here.
Arsenal are turning from a well respected club into a joke. Whining about VAR and refs having an agenda against them, manager throwing tantrums on the touchline every week, now crying that one of their players is the 3rd most fouled player in the league? Need to get a grip
Klopp spent the entire Newcastle Game moaning. He also said the same about salah in previous years. But yh it’s all arsenal.
@@mf289 klopp is just as bad. Just because one does it doesn’t mean another doesn’t.
@@Graziak5 the narrative is hardly the same is it? Pep does it as well
@8:32 I felt his pain hahaha.
Sakas on his back more than Keowns hairline
"He should be top" 🤣🤣🤣 What a joke of a pundit.
Has Martin lost all sense of reality these days? Every time he speaks, I genuinely wonder if he's just winding everybody up.
I know he's so far inside his own mind sometimes, mayhem in there
Everyone wants to create a narrative, except former Arsenal player Martin Keown. He's entirely neutral and objective.
The only shock here is that Salah isn’t in the top 3, he’s hacked at every game but isn’t on the list because refs don’t even give free kicks
Exactly
Well, why don't they talk about the whole article this comes from!?
Keown is absolutely right, players can do a couple of dirty fouls on Saka and yet not get booked. Hazard used to deal with that and look what happened to him since he moved to Madrid. Players need to protected, and refs can set the tone very early in the game. Stop hating on Arsenal and be objective.
Behave jesus its a contact sport and plus he dives better than tom daley its part of football its dwn too saka to change his game and get on with it
Another stat they failed to mention:
Most cards drawn in the Premier League this season (fouls won in brackets):
14 - Raheem Sterling (31)
9 - Morgan Gibbs-White (32)
8 - Josh Brownhill (18)
8 - Luis Díaz (22)
8 - Anthony Gordon (38)
7 - Phil Foden (33)
7 - Bukayo Saka (43)
What this means is that you have to foul Saka SIX TIMES before a card is drawn.
No complaints when they cut Hazard down tho
@@tevildo45 total nonsense, at Chelsea he averaged 35 league games a year for 7 years. They did an article 5 years ago and hazard had been fouled 507 times in his Chelsea career. The next highest was Sterling with 362. He was kicked to pieces when he played in the premier league and never complained about it. And the reason he never got back to his best at Madrid was he broke his ankle and never recovered from it. This is well documented
Talksport, wasn't this during a meeting it was raised? Simon, was a letter sent by Arsenal to the PGMOL?
Crystal Palace did the same with Zaha and nothing was done, Saka needs to give it back, I was only a Sunday league player but if someone was trying to intimidate me they were getting a taste of their own medicine at some point in that game
Protection for players. I didn't know Arsene Wenger is back 😂
Not players. Saka just him, apparently he's being targeted for some strange reason 🤷🏾♂️
Martin ‘PGMELO’ Keown
😂😂😂😂
You would have sent him in to the stands 😂 that did make me chuckle
The way you guys gaslight Martin during these conversations is grotesque and painful to watch. You DO push a narrative and don't even attempt to understand both sides of the argument. His point that Saka be top of the list is based on his opinion that Saka is getting fouled without those fouls being given and therefore not being reflected in the statistics. Yes Simon, Martins opinion is subjective, but to pretend you're somehow the master of objectivity is, objectively, laughable.
Very True, these guys make Martin seem stupid on purpose laughing and belittling everything he says. Such disrespect to a legend of the game. They do it cause it’s their show, Martin should just leave these losers.
on the flip side, they don't need to try very hard, do they...
ahahahahahahahahahaha so childish. they should also ask protection for arteta for people making fun of his hair.
Didn't go to PGMOL. Didn't write a letter it was in pre season conversation with club and PGMOL. Like every club has, apart from a private conversation got leaked to the press
Every 4 fouls on sake there is only 1 card, martin keown didn't prepared enough the arsenal complaints is it take so many fouls on saka to give, the argument is not he is most fouled player, jim and simon did dirty on martin, they have cleraly an agenda
😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
Agreed, Simon clearly has an agenda against Arsenal.
Anyone with eyes can see saka getting kicked from the moment the game kicks off
Keown: they are bullying us. Please protect us😢😢
Fouls per yellow would clearly show why it’s a problem
That's not true you can get fouled alot without them being a yellow. That's good defending. You want a player favored by refs.
‘Decapitate’ when Saka actually stuck a leg out at Palhinha after the aforementioned clean tackle ffs
Martin Keown, an absolute fool
stats do lie , I am an accountant by education , numbers do lie
Paulinho was a great tackle on Saka
The other thing that Keown is failing to mention, is that Saka dives all the time. So does Sterling, Maddison, Kane etc. so when Keown says he watches the game, why does Keown fail to mention Saka's constant diving (or Jesus, Nkethia, Havertz)...ahhh, because no one in an Arsenal shirt dives...
Jesus...🤦♂🤣
Known is correct
Listen to these two clowns trying to upset keown by attacking Arsenal
Martin arguing facts with opinions....He sounds like TY of AFTV
Martin talking nonsense with this one 😂
Martin I love you for your time as a player at Arsenal. But this is a conversation that actually happened in real life.
"Saka is the 3rd most fouled player after Ayew and Bruno"
"By my interpretation, from watching football, Saka should be 1st"
Arguing against statistics is crazy but more importantly Saka broke someone's collar bone nobody wrote to pgmol.
Saka will get there at some point.
how of his fouls are slight contact?
Its funny hearing simon talk about bottling
Jim White can't even pronounce Bukayo Saka's name, right? Lol, he said, Busaya Saka 😂
Saka gets kicks from pillar to post every week. Players get 3 kicks before anything is done.
The statistics are probably on actual given fouls, so you cant just go off of fouls alone, i watch arsenal and the amount of times he can get cleared out and nothing given is surprising, granted it doesn't help that arteta plays him almost every game
And yet the same argument can apply to Bruno and ayew
Making up a scenario to suit what you think is not actual facts.
It hasnt just been this season though its been the last 3
So Martin Keown, heard you love a good statistic: Ayew, Guimaraes and Saka have all played 19 games.
They don't use their defensive skill and just lash out and foul.
Keown fighting hard to defend the 'facts' in his head,
Simon and Jim have an easy job...
Emery > Arteta
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Whn Saka is busy diving, Arteta goes, outta boy!!! 😩🤣🤣
Like the same protection Van Nistelrooy needed? 😂🤡
