Months later, her body was found in a ditch northeast of Calgary by a road construction crew. The autopsy revealed she was stabbed 75 times. Who would have done this to Jessica Newman and why?

    And consider that he was determined by our Canadian courts to be the primary parent and was awarded full custody prior to this. Very sad and shows again how mistakes are made by authorities every day.

    2nd degree murder for stabbing her 75 times? How is he eligible for parole? Did I miss something. Wrong

    • @Dexter037S4
      @Dexter037S4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Canadian Law limits terms to 25 for parole, he won't get it, and the degrees are based on if there was premeditation or not, this wasn't planned in advance, thus 2nd degree.

    Why is Canada easy on these life sentences. A life sentence is life without parole especially stabbing someone over 70 times.

    I don't get how they call it "life" but you can be paroled in 17 years? For most people, that's NOT LIFE.

    The real author of those letters is the ex clearly, c’mon. He already said she was an alcoholic and got the kid taken away so why wouldn’t he accuse someone else of her murder to clear his name? Plus the 75 stab wounds indicates this person had something personal/hatered.

    Hmm...woman disappears the day before an important court date to get shared custody of her son...I wonder who could have done it...🤔 And I’m no lawyer, but how does “intended to kill” NOT mean the same as “planned/premeditated” 🤔🤔🤔 FFS!

    • @elisabeteoliveira5808
      @elisabeteoliveira5808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      "intended to kill" might be that he wanted her dead but it wasn't planned, could be an argument that escalated and he wanted her to die, not something he had carefully planned? 🤔

    This monster stabs the mother of their child 75 times and will get parole by the time he is fifty? I would have suggested a year of prison for stab. It is worrisome to know that this man, will be walking around and maybe get a decent job thanks to an education paid by our taxes. From Toronto my condolences to Jessica's family.

      Canada has less crime than the US so it must be working. Punishment is supposed to a a deterrent, it's not for blood lust and not to appease housewives who get their jollies by watching people get excessive punishment.

    I think it’s a crap job to call the family and say “there’s another body I’ll call back later if it’s her”. Why do that? Contact family after you find her and identify. But calling the mom “we found another body”, is cruel each and every time.

    • @lunagoodhart5489

    • @halloweenjujube
      @halloweenjujube 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I agree it’s awful to have to do this to the family, but I think it’s an attempt to keep them in the loop, and be sure that they’re finding out first, in case it does turn out to be her, before it’s being reported on the news, etc. Identification can take a little while, and the news will often report on stories like this before the body has been ID’d. I can’t imagine the agony of waiting to hear if it’s your loved one, but at least you know before the public does that it could be a possibility.

    • @lisacundiff8029
      @lisacundiff8029 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I believe they do that in case the mother was to see it on the news..

    • @BS-dq1kz
      @BS-dq1kz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I’ve watched way too many murder mystery shows and I think the reason they do this is because when a body is found and it’s in a public place(like off a road in a ditch as in this case), the news often hears of it and begins reporting on it. Then, you have friends, family or just acquaintances rushing to tell the victims parents and it’s shocking to them. I’ve seen quite a few instances where this is what happens. So, I feel like the detectives simply believe they should be the ones to notify and let the close relatives know firsthand before they find out online or by a neighbor, etc...

      Since this is the crucial period, i.e. before the custody battle; before the victim of domestic violence says she's leaving; before going to the divorce lawyer, you can bet they had their eyes on the boyfriend. But have to prove it; have to eliminate all other possible suspects for the all important court case.

I think she was still hooking up with him just to pacify him so he'd agree to the 50/50 custody deal in the upcoming court hearing. Sad story, that's for sure. And 3 little guys left with no mama. In NC you don't get visits with your kids jus because U pay child support. U have to also file custody to see them. And pray a judge will give u visits. Courts really mess up a lot of families. He killed her cause he didn’t want her to share any type of custody with they son that he had custody of but they had a court date the next day before she was killed,so he got to be the dumbest to think he would get away with killing his son mother he was the only one with a motive he didn’t want to lose 100%custody are share custody with Jessica so the coward killed her now may he rot in prison long and hard!!!Rest peacefully Jessica ❤️🙏🏾😇

    Why aren’t her KIDS talked about more? Why didn’t she have custody of any of them?? Even her mom doesn’t mention them. Aren’t they sad?? More so than everyone else? Very weird IMO

    I’ll never get my head around the sentencing given out for murder...17 years for stabbing the mother of his child 75 times? That’s crazy. He’ll be out when he’s 50, free to rebuild his life.
    Jessica’s mum seems like such a lovely woman 💔

    ✨ Why didn't Jessica's Lawyer, or family, warn her to stay away from the father of her baby, before the Custody Court Case.? Clearly the ex's relationship was problematic (with him legally accusing her of being a drunk, so an unfit parent), so therefore risky to see him alone the night before court. ✨

    The ex did it! He lied in court about her sobriety and he cheated on her. Look at his character. Ex did it.

    The mother seems so soft-spoken and gentle, it's tragic that she had to lose her daughter like that.

    Why do killers even get the chance for parole yet someone arrested for having pot on them gets life with no parole.

    This is the ultimate selfish act; he took his little boy’s mother away from him. He has scarred his own son with a wound so deep that he will deal with it his whole life. He’ll answer for it one day, before the ultimate Judge, who isn’t going to be fooled by his lies and excuses.
