@@foetor i dont know if you are looking at the right direction here. These kind of watches are made for a different purpose. Maybe in the future they will add some more features, but that is not the case. At the moment there are better watches in the market that provide cellular fanctionality. Personally i prefer that they keep the watch simple only for what is made for.
I have a cellular Apple Watch and I turned Cell off a long time ago and only turn it on if I get stuck with a dead phone. It is such a battery drain when in low signal areas.
I have a Pace 2 and 3 years later it is still rock solid making it really hard to justify any new watch. Even though the tech junkie in me has fomo and would love this watch.
Great video Dave, I have the Vertix2 and I was excited when I opened the email from Coros. But when I looked at the specs I was disappointed. Colors are nice but on the specs sheet battery life is better on my old Vertix2. I understand they updated some inner things, gps and heart rate sensor but same display was a big let down. Thanks for your work and the videos. Sticking with the old Vertix2 for now.
If it's the same size as the Vertix 2 then I very much fear I'll have to take a pass. I'm a small-wristed female and I can just about get away with the Vertix 1, but when I first looked at the specs of the Vertix 2 it seemed like it was wider across than my wrist, so I rather doubt I could wear it comfortably. It's a pity, because if the size were right I'd probably be very tempted to upgrade even though I still love my Vertix 1. Kudos to Coros, BTW, for still sending all the updates to models as old as the original Vertix! Makes me feel less left out of the fancy new hardware. :)
Thank you for reviewing these watches! I really like those colors. I would take the moon version. MIP display is still good enough imo. But as you mentioned the competition is tough. Even a Garmin 7X (non pro) has more functionality at a lower price point when being in sale. Nowadays flashlight should be a must with these kind of watches!
Another great review. Thanks Dave. Good looking watch but my next watch will probably be a AWU 3, to try a more useful day to day smartwatch. I’ve had 4 years out of my fenix 6x pro, and it’s still going, so I’m hanging on for September.
I'll wait for something lighter, like updated Apex 3 Pro (2S?) and a Coros bike computer for sure. BTW, I cannot say Garmin is more polished. As a software engineer, I see Garmin platform very buggy and they don't care.
I think it wat time for a Vertix 3 rather than an S Beautiful watch off course. Can you change the watch face if you want with built in ones? Perfect review! Thank you!
Yup, these watchfaces will also be available in the COROS app watchface library. So if you want a "moon" background on a Pace 3 for example you can do that.
Dave, excellent as always. Coros's software is just lackluster. I like the minimal UI, but... many of the watch software features lack maturity (polish).
Glad it's not AMOLED. Sticking with my FR955. But if Garmin goes completely AMOLED, I'm out. I like watches but not ones that look like a phone on my wrist 👍😀
I like the look of the Coros2 and its features and the 2s also looks good but that screen is what puts me off, I understand getting better battery life, but to not add the option for a brighter screen is a dealbreaker for me. Shame.
Good watch and upgrade but nothing that is a killer on the market. I wasn't planning to change my Apex 2 Pro anyway so no change on this point. I hope however that the original Vertix 2 will get a discount so that people looking for a watch might consider it. This release may also mean that the version 3 of Apex and Vertix are not around the corner yet at all (maybe in 2025 ?). Thank you for that product review !
Thank you for all your reviews! I can’t choose between my Garmin epix pro and my garmin instinct 2x solar tactical. I see that you have a lot of smartwatches. How do you manage them? How they can coesist in daily life?
It's easy with Garmin since they use something called "TrueUp" to sync data between watches. So you can have multiple garmins and choose which to wear every day and the data will seamlessly merge with the other watches without an issue. It only becomes an issue with other brands though COROS is pretty good with this as well.
Isn’t Coros the one with a new way to use your iPhone during a workout? If they offered this watch in an AMOLED variant I’d be tempted to jump ship from the EPIX Garmin.
I bought the apex 2 pro a month ago or so and have a lot of pairing issues. I have to either remove the coros app from my phone or turn off my iPhone 15 to pair it again since the bluetooth connection won’t work. It constantly says that I need to either turn off the watch, the phone, bluetooth and keep the devices close to each other, even if they are side by side with no space in between. Super irritating. Considering to return it, which is a petty really 😐

I’m quite disappointed with how dim the Fenix is, so I def don’t want to go to something that’s dimmer. Thanks 🙏🏻
Similar, the Tactix might have a slight advantage in terms of backlight brightness and contrast. The Vertix 2S backlight isn’t adjustable it’s set and can’t be dimmed or brightened in the settings.
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks and appreciate Dave! The vertix 2 is simple difficult to read too dim, if vertix 2s same brightness is no good. Tactic’s brightness is great.
Missed the mark by not doing AMOLED. With todays advancements the battery life is just as good with AMOLED as MIP and it’s what everyone else is doing because it’s what people want
They have a lot in common. The most notable differences are the display types... One being AMOLED on the Polar and the COROS being MIP and the other being battery life while COROS has significantly longer battery life in both standby and activity modes. The Polar ecosystem has a bit more to offer in terms of daily wellness while COROS focuses more on being a tool to track activities and training.
Bought an Apex Pro a few years ago and have loved it dearly. Really wanted to move in the Vertix line, but didnt want to purchase a 2 with the thoughts of a new model on its way. Definitely considering this model, looks gorgeous too.
I don't think there's any reason for someone to go for the 2s just for two different ones, one of which was the slightly better GPS signal and the otherwise new heart rate sensor and to pay 700 💰 that's a lot of money no thanks
So it’s even bigger than the V2. LOL To think when I saw the S I got my hopes up that it was a smaller version of the V2. But no, it’s actually a tad bigger. 😂
It's basically the same size. It got thicker by .2mm which is imperceivable to the eye. The V2S is also lighter by a couple of grams but impossible to notice.
Also, that new 'improved" HR sensor is absolute garbage. 30 miles of running in the last 3 days on my new Pace 3 (same garbage HR sensor as this "premium" watch) and the data is truly laughable. I have used a Pace 2 for 5 years with wonderful optical results, confirmed with a H10 chest strap. This new sensor is a joke. I can't believe Coros is trying to push it as an improvement.
I am returning my watch and getting a Garmin Instinct 2 just because the HR sensor is such an absolute fail. I mean, truly, it's so bad. Coros f'ed up with their hardware selection and they're trying to act like it works??
