Peter Milton Walsh - “Write Your Way Out of Town"

Brisbane in the 1970’s produced some excellent bands but it wasn’t a city any of them were particularly keen to stick around in. Probably the best known of them was The Saints, but Peter Milton Walsh (the singer/songwriter of The Apartments) also skipped town at the first available opportunity.
“Write your way of town, write your way out of sorrow
Years of running round had worn you out
With your notebooks in a shoebox,
Mattress up on milk crates
And the days repeating themselves”
This solo rendition was recorded during a late afternoon performance by The Apartments in an old church in suburban Sydney - a beautiful setting for some very beautiful music.
