If it makes you feel better I didn't go on a date till college and the guy I ended up marrying didn't date anyone before me. Started going out with him the year after college. We have beenen married ten years, got a kid and house. It felt really bad to be the odd one out in school but if your not ready there really is no rush. And when you are ready, just go out and do social things that you like. I met my husband doing college radio. Also when I let my friend's know I wanted to date they were eager to set me up on dates. Most dates went no place. One and done. But that's how dating goes.
I feel like the "you're the same person" thing is more about mannerisms and being really in tune with the other person than actually not being an individual anymore. It's the chameleon effect, when you're really in tune with the other person, you just start mirroring them or predicting their next move and accommodating them before you can consciously register what either of you are doing. I think it's one of the most beautiful things to see in a relationship.
My ex was English so if I spoke in my natural voice/accent he'd be like "Hullo Culloden" but my current partner is Scottish and he's like "I know what word you meant" and it's chill. It feels so natural to mirror/adapt to the person your with and at a point it is easy to understand each other without always talking because of this. I started saying "take it easy" and other things easily after years of masking and hiding a big part of myself. I wouldn't have spoken the way I do as openly with any of my exes out of fear of looking stupid. So it's refreshing as heck to be seen as intelligent for me as a dyslexic with ADHD. Also, I was finally formally diagnosed, and bought a car, and I'm finally able to feel comfortable in my own skin.

When I was at my brother's apartment once I saw that him and his fiancée had a dart board with a paper hung beneath it that had a bunch of food/restaurant choices that were assigned to certain zones on the board and they would throw a dart and get whatever it landed on for their meal. Regarding the gummy bears: They are called Bärchenpärchen (= bear pair, the "chen" after both words implies a small/cute version of bears and pairs). There are three different pairs in the bags, and in every pair one bear has a kinda normal sweet gummy bear taste while the other tastes sour. Fun fact: The colors are purple&yellow, blue&red and green&orange, and with a little bit of bending of their connecting arms you can first form a rainbow-bear-sixtuplet and then devour all 6 at once.
you’re not melding into one person! (i’m married if that’s helpful) basically, i reckon what happens is you sort of rub off on eachother via shared time/all that love and you get little -isms, but think of it less as a melding, and more of a venn diagram; so like a shaaba section, a jamie, section, and then the shaaba and jamie section is the little overlap section in the middle. that’ll pop up in your sense of humour, maybe your conflict resolution, your coping mechs outside of your home or little micro-movements or things you do to feel comfortable or make the other comfortable, things like that. think about it this way; in a relationship, especially one going on for the better part of a decade, you’re learning things like increasing empathy in regards to and response to that person for example, how to take care of them and their needs, and that translates into your care behaviours in other aspects sure, but it doesn’t fundamentally change _who you are_ it’s just about the fact that it’s all in relation to them(for example’s sake), and so little things about all of these shared experiences and these countless private moments become little things that end up in the jamie and shaaba joint section of your venn diagram. i’m hoping that makes sense?! it’s just little byproducts of that authentic shared growth, i think! so in a healthy relationship, you definitely won’t lose yourself, in fact, you tend to just gain that extra little section that you’re sharing with the other person. obv as long as you’re maintaining your healthy boundaries, spending your healthy time apart whether or not it’s just popping along to work or school and then coming home (pandemic willing/excluded. 😐), there shouldn’t be any worry of like waking up one day and becoming jaaba, haha! you’re still you, you still have your own likes and dislikes, your own -isms that are just yours, your own hopes, dreams, fears, goals, fully functional and rich inner world and that isn’t so easily affected by the presence of somebody else-but that extra addition to your venn diagram is definitely a treasure and it looks like you’ve nurtured it really well. ☺️

I curl against my boyfriend only I end up stuffing him against the wall and then when I finally roll over he "follows me" I scoot as far away as I can from him in our sleep he follows only to push to the very edge of the bed. Then I have to wake him up and he rolls over and cracks his head on the wall and it doesn't phase him.
I've had several friends get into long term relationships and slowly disappear. Because all their social needs come from their partner and their partner is their best friend and you can't have time or tell them personal stuff without their partner being there. It's wonderful to see your friends fall in love and be happy. But it's annoying sometimes and lonely.
Been in a L-T LDR with my man, its 2 years now and counting. We definitely agree on more things than we disagree and we havent had any major fights or fights at all really. Not long term, but when I was with a girl (she was a dork and I loved it) we were in a play together. We had a day with 2 performances, but we had 3 hours in between. So we go down to the food court (The theater was in a mall, weird, I know) and get our food, icecream to share, then go to another store and get facemasks, then go back up to the theater. We pushed chairs together, put on the facemasks, ate food and ice cream while we watched a Bo Burnham special. That's one of my favorite moments from that relationship. Luckily we're still good friends, we just didn't see each other romantically anymore.
I totally understand seeing date night as different things like for me date night is watching a movie from the must watch list from either him or me and cooking together.
I relate to the arguments part so much! Sometimes I say I want some time for myself and I put on netflix and after an hour or two I forget I'm supposed to be mad and I laugh and my boyfriend just comes with the biggest grin on his face knowing he just kinda won lmao.

(i’m married if that’s helpful) basically, i reckon what happens is you sort of rub off on eachother via shared time/all that love and you get little -isms, but think of it less as a melding, and more of a venn diagram; so like a shaaba section, a jamie, section, and then the shaaba and jamie section is the little overlap section in the middle. that’ll pop up in your sense of humour, maybe your conflict resolution, your coping mechs outside of your home or little micro-movements or things you do to feel comfortable or make the other comfortable, things like that. think about it this way; in a relationship, especially one going on for the better part of a decade, you’re learning things like increasing empathy in regards to and response to that person for example, how to take care of them and their needs, and that translates into your care behaviours in other aspects sure, but it doesn’t fundamentally change _who you are_ it’s just about the fact that it’s all in relation to them(for example’s sake), and so little things about all of these shared experiences and these countless private moments become little things that end up in the jamie and shaaba joint section of your venn diagram. i’m hoping that makes sense?! it’s just little byproducts of that authentic shared growth, i think!
so in a healthy relationship, you definitely won’t lose yourself, in fact, you tend to just gain that extra little section that you’re sharing with the other person. obv as long as you’re maintaining your healthy boundaries, spending your healthy time apart whether or not it’s just popping along to work or school and then coming home (pandemic willing/excluded. 😐), there shouldn’t be any worry of like waking up one day and becoming jaaba, haha! you’re still you, you still have your own likes and dislikes, your own -isms that are just yours, your own hopes, dreams, fears, goals, fully functional and rich inner world and that isn’t so easily affected by the presence of somebody else-but that extra addition to your venn diagram is definitely a treasure and it looks like you’ve nurtured it really well. ☺️

With me and my boyfriend it's about the same if it gets to rough he's like "I'm taking a drive" I go back to what I was doing before the argument and two hours later when he comes back from driving around it's like it never happened. I can relate to whole body heat thing. I curl against my boyfriend only I end up stuffing him against the wall and then when I finally roll over he "follows me" I scoot as far away as I can from him in our sleep he follows only to push to the very edge of the bed. Then I have to wake him up and he rolls over and cracks his head on the wall and it doesn't phase him.
I've had several friends get into long term relationships and slowly disappear. Because all their social needs come from their partner and their partner is their best friend and you can't have time or tell them personal stuff without their partner being there. It's wonderful to see your friends fall in love and be happy. But it's annoying sometimes and lonely.
I could break up a 8 years relationship about crisps if they are salt and vinegar ones xD

Not long term, but when I was with a girl (she was a dork and I loved it) we were in a play together. We had a day with 2 performances, but we had 3 hours in between. So we go down to the food court (The theater was in a mall, weird, I know) and get our food, icecream to share, then go to another store and get facemasks, then go back up to the theater. We pushed chairs together, put on the facemasks, ate food and ice cream while we watched a Bo Burnham special. That's one of my favorite moments from that relationship. Luckily we're still good friends, we just didn't see each other romantically anymore.

Me and my girlfriend have been best friends 4 years and together nearly 2 years and a few weeks ago I casually told her about some toilet related business and we had a nice bonding moment realising that was the first time we'd spoken in any manner of detail of such things beyond just acknowledging it's existence haha. I’m sat here watching a video about long term relationships when I’ve only been in one just-under-two-month relationship that I wanted to leave after 3 days but felt too bad bc she was my best friend. I cannot relate but hope to one day. (It mainly didn’t work bc we couldn’t actually spend much time together bc her parents are homophobic and I sort of still just saw it as a friendship since I knew we wouldn’t be able to do normal couple things bc of them. We’re still good friends now and still went to a Harry styles concert the month after I broke it off)
