'Whack a Mole' back to the wild!

- Today at Wildlife Aid we admitted an amazing little mole that was found out in the open, above ground, which is very unusual for moles.
It turns out that the mole was actually quite young (around a third of the size of a fully grown adult) and was at the stage of its life where it was leaving its mother and going off looking for somewhere new to live by itself.
So, with no apparent injuries or lack of health (its coat, as you can see, is very glossy and soft), we quickly returned it back to where the member of the public found it.

People always say moles are ugly, but I think they're FREAKING ADORABLE
I didn't know moles were so cute! He's adorable. With his little twitching nose 😀
There is just something genuinely innocuous about them. I can't help but even think star-nosed moles are kind of cute for that reason.
A cat in the street where I lived as a child caught a mole, it was in a terrible state and would not eat, we tried earth worms without any luck, then out of desperation we gave it earth worms soaked in full fat milk and cheap canned dog food with a little sugar, it started to eat. After 3 days it gained strength and was released in the park at the same place we had spotted moles before and down it went!

Moles are some of my favourite creatures. They are welcome in my yard and can plow it up as much as they like. It always breaks my heart to find one dead. I have tried to help moles that I have rescued from dogs and cats but they have always died quickly. It is so sad because they are gentle little souls and so helpful to the Earth.
I leave mine alone too and I can tell when I go out to garden and tick them off by accidentally collapsing a tunnel because 6 new mounts pop up :)
It makes me sick that people set mole traps to protect their precious lawns, while pretending to be lovers of the countryside.

Why did you not just lift up your shoe and put it down somewhere else? You know you can not kill it if you lift up your foot right?

I absolutely love moles, adorable little creatures with amazingly soft fur and sweet little shovel paws. Lost track of how many I've rescued from the clutches of my cats over the years. Nature can be so cruel. :(

My dog, who loves to play with ferrets, sometimes gets confused and trys to play with other "babies" she finds.
Usually she licks them and trys to get them to engage.
One day when Hettie, was walking with my daughter, she suddenly shoved her nose into the ground and pulled out a very startled mole.
It wouldn't play even if you barked at it.
My daughter ended up picking it up to put it back in it's hole and said it was the softest thing she ever felt. She had thought it would run back by itself but it's eyesight was so poor it couldn't see which way to go.
My dog as a very soft mouth and her new friends usually ends up damp and rather freaked out. I'm sure that mole had quite the story to tell.

One time I found on of this moles because I went to a little lake near my house and I had Been raining a couple of days and he was wet and wasn't moving so I dried him up and then took him back wear I found him and I saw I hole and I put him in and he began to walk in the hole

I constantly see moles above ground... especially during early winter
Managed to catch one of these yesterday. Sufficed to say it was odd seeing it crawl on the ground ( Florida never ceases to amaze me).Very, very strong critter, was quite thankful I was wearing thick gloves. Was quite disappointed it didn't have those feelers on its nose . Poor guy was surrounded by 3 failure burrows: one into the oak tree roots and one leading into a small palm tree and a third one leading into a stump. He was relocated to the back of the property.

Once found two moles on the road surface on a country road.
The level of the field was higher than the road, and they had burrowed through the bank and rolled into the road.
I had to stop the traffic to retrieve them, my goodness they are strong little beggars to pick up.

My grandmother was in her garden and she picked up some dirt in her hands. She felt something moving so she looked and saw little baby moles wiggling around! She said they scared her so she screamed, threw them in the air and ran 😂😂
In a way it's sad because they could've died from impact but it's also funny imagining a little old lady sprinting and screaming

That sounds like what happened with my mother when she was a child - she was picking potatoes in a field and she ended up picking a mole, thinking it was a potato. When she realised it was a mole, she screamed and threw it away! Poor mole, but it's a funny story. 😂
I hope they died, for your grandma's garden's sake..

I saved a squirrel once! It was stuck under a small truck! It has to have stitches!
These little guys come in our house alot. Long story haha. But I have fed them kibble and they take pieces out and come back for more. Drink my dogs water too...😉🤔one of our cats comes down to scare off mice now and then so the moles don't come in much anymore. Thankyou for putting him back.😘

I rescued a raccoon once after being hit by a car, sister called police and he tried to shoot it but was unable to. I went up there and brought it to a rescue center, it needed pins from broken bones. But healed up fine

I had to save a mole from my Dad once... He was trying to drown it and even tried to get my brother to kill it. But he refused and I grabbed a glass jar scooped the poor thing up and released it far away from my house.
Yeah was not very happy with my Dad that day... Nope.. >>

I did an essay on moles at school once so I know they eat a lot of worms.
If it wasn't eating how could it be alright? Especially when people poison them at every turn
I think you guy's are crazy for rescuing moles but I came across one running hap hazardly back and forth across a roadway where it was little time before it was run over. So I parked my truck and was thinking it was going to be exciting about whether I could run back there before the nest car arrived. Well so I got there grabbed and rescued it. I wish good fortune to all the little creatures!

I've only seen a mole once. It was on the street. It had been killed by a cat. I hate cats, they kill for fun; obviously the cat had no intention of eating the mole or it wouldn't have just left it there.
That's why owning any pets is immoral; until they've lost all of their killing instinct.

Whats sad is one day i was walking with my grandma to the park and we walked past a dead baby mole cover in moles and bit, i felt so bad i took a picture of it,😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭

I love Mole's, I use to begg my dad not to hunt them down and kill them with a shovel....I hated him for that.

Nothing new here, that's what moles are supposed to do. Help your grandma catch and kill them, they are a major nuisance in a garden, plus they invite voles to use their tunnels, and those will destroy all sorts of plants by gnawing at their roots. Kill em all.
If people has them in garden, either use repellent to not let them come or catch them alive and relocate them away from houses.
My cat ended up killing one..it was so tiny and sad.

I saved a bird find its mom on a stormy night .My grannies cat almost killed a baby bird .It bit in my finger ,then it started flying. It feel and stoped breathing and died

I've just killed my second mole (and many more to come, unfortunately) because it used to mess with my lawn (big surprise, right). I'd so much like to be able to use their wonderful fur: any ideas anybody?
Can relocate them to woods area and use repellent that scares them off. I don't intend to kill animals. Humans are vile. My garden can't have moles because it's all tiled back and front. And glad because my housemate would kill them. I'm okay with killing rats or repelling them because diseases.
P. S. I. I'm not vegetarian or vegan. I don't hurt wildlife. And i support ecologically grown meat, dairy and eggs.
