- needless to say it's my fault
In fact, I raised it, thinking that even if a mole died, I couldn't help it.
Because I originally thought I should have killed it.
But what happened? I thought we could live together while watching alive.
but suddenly the mole dies, so I feel very sorry.
I just think this made me know the mole better.
The next not be the same now.
It was the stress. He was scared. Also they need A LOT of worms and bugs each day.
A mole needs to eat it’s own body weight in food everyday to survive or it will die.
Moles only eat bugs, grubs and earthworms. They cannot survive on dry pet food. They eat 2 times their body weight a day. Next time just take him far away and let him go. It was very sweet what you tried to do. I am sorry for your loss.
Edit: I just found out that moles carry rabies so best just to dispose of them.
Moles don’t typically carry rabies. From what I can find, it’s unheard of for a mole to carry rabies.

Feed live crickets 🦗 from the pet store, and worms 🪱 from a fishing bait store.
They also need deeper sand and dirt to dig in.
3/4 dirt and 1/4 sand and don’t mix it, at least 2 feet deep or more

I have read that they don't do well in captivity. The stress kills them. Perhaps next time just take it out to the woods and release it. They are good for the environment. They till dirt so plants can grow.

Yeah, I think the only time you should keep a mole as a pet is if it's injured or something, but even then you should still return it to the wild when it gets better, for those who want a pet that burrows, just get a mouse or a rat, they love burrowing too

It was not right if i write a mole can be a pet when you put at in a terrarium because the biggest terrarium ist not enough ,than a mole brought a extrem great area with many seperated holes ,"rooms" and corridors.

I agree with you that moles cannot be pets. I saw on TH-cam raising moles at a Japanese zoo and I thought I couldn't do that.
I heard that moles do not last long in captivity. I don’t think it was your fault at all. There are just some animals that need to be in the wild to live. I think you did an amazing job raising him for as long as you did. And honestly, I wouldn’t have been able to kill such a precious creature either. I’d recommend relocating any future moles you come across. Maybe you can even keep them for a couple days to make sure they get really well fed and watered before they enter their new environment. A forest would probably be the best place. Anyways. So sorry for your lose.

I'm sorry about your mole but thanks for posting these videos, I learned a lot about moles just by watching them. It is so interesting how they dig and tunnel. I didn't know they would drink water out of a container. I don't think a mole could be a pet for very long. They sleep 3 hours and wake 5, and they can tunnel 150 or more feet a day and they eat constantly. They are pests in my garden, they have undermined a block wall and made it unstable.

Never kill another soul if at all possible.. take it somewhere away from your crops and let It go.. we are all God's creation and all deserve our place in this earth humans need to learn to live with animals not destroy them just because they think they're in the way...✌️

I don't think this was your fault, 10 hours is not a long enough time to starve.
The wild is a dangerous place, he could have been injured or hurt before hand.
Keeping moles seems to be quite challenging and they need habitats unlike other animals.
If anything perhaps he got underfed but don't feel guilty, you weren't being malicious and there is a high chance he would have still had problems.
….and you are enabling this behavior because why?
For a mole, 10-12 hours is enough to starve. They have incredible metabolisms, even professional rescuers and veterinarians say that they need to be fed hourly.
