    One thing needs mentioning - this bike never overheats. Unlike upgraded surron, it just keeps going and I rarely see the motor heating over 65-70 C.

      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a good fact to point out, like the Armstrong XR-E, Arctic Leopard uses a larger motor that is able to take higher power levels without overheating. The motor in the Armstrong is massive and awesome one of our favorite power deliveries out of the box, similar to KTM Freeride, but much lighter. The Surron and Talaria motors are smaller and overheat at high speeds and hill climbs. Although, you do have to push them pretty hard to overheat.

    It appears to be heavily influenced by the electric motion escape. Do you agree? What noticeable differences did you discern between the two

    I test rode one of these a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, out of the box, much better than Surron X. Feels very planted, Mode 3 absolutely RIIIIPS, I definitely enjoyed it and it’s on my radar. The only complain? I would say I have is that the suspension is tooo soft for my weight. Don’t get me wrong, I like plush, but just coming down from simple wheelies would see the front forks Travel almost all the way, which I suspect would turn into bottoming on even slight jumps. But that’s about it. Solid bike

    Weight. Although feeling cumbersome at times, there is no replacement for the added grip that weight will give you. The Sur Ron and Talaria so light, once you lose traction, it's really hard to get it back. You could lean back, but the lack of weight will immediately make the bike want to loop out. Because of this, hill climbs will always be a problem, no matter how much power you have.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Weight is a double edge sword, it will make a bike feel more plush and carry speed and like you said can also increase traction. BUT the heavier a bike is the harder it is to maneuver and the more (human) energy it takes to ride. The biggest thing that holds the Surron/Talaria bikes back in hill climbing is their short wheelbase and an adult rider pulling on the handlebars and more power makes the front end coming up even harder to control. We can certainly climb hills a lot better on our modified surrons vs stock, but the wheelbase prevents them from beating bikes like the Arctic, Electric Motion and Armstrong which are superior at hill climbing.

    • @nxdboi
      @nxdboi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChargedCycleWorks Ah, wheelbase too, of course. I'm literally currently waiting for someone to release an extended swingarm option for Talarias, just because it feels too short and squirrelly in general. It'll be the next thing after a controller upgrade and bypass.

    • @electroendurodiary
      @electroendurodiary ปีที่แล้ว

      Weight might help, but I think suspension is more important. Moto forks are just more supple when handling the obstacles (perhaps because they have bigger cartgiges and bigger stantion surface?). On Arctic I can ride 2x the speed of Surron over the rocky terrain with more comfort thanks to its moto fork.

    What makes this bike less fun or not able to do the big whoop section? Like I do t see why this bike wouldn’t be able to do big jumps and go on a track other than the tires

    All of these machines need a clutch for real hill climbs. Power is nothing if you can't modulate it for traction.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point! If you've ever ridden a 15kw Surron the power is scary and borderline uncontrollable for off-road riding which is why we rarely ride ours at full power settings. There are multiple ways to accomplish this (one is via a physical clutch). Another is through software tuning of power delivery and there are bikes like the Armstrong XR-E and KTM Freeride that absolutely nailed 15kw+ tunes that are easy to ride and well modulated and controlled, rarely wishing for a clutch on these bikes. We suspect the larger motors on these bikes is the key ingredient to making this possible. This Arctic Leopard is great in Level2, but Level3 it becomes more like a moded surron where the power gets twitchy and difficult to control as you saw in this video. You wouldn't use 3 much off-road on this bike but drag racing your friends in 3 might be fun. If you're looking for an electric with a clutch check out the Electric Motion, it placed 1st in the eMoto class at RedBull TKO. We are now a dealer for EM, will be getting some bikes soon, excited to ride one for the first time and try out the clutch!

    • @electroendurodiary
      @electroendurodiary ปีที่แล้ว

      Usual comment from all EM owners I know - they rarely if ever actually use a clutch. Given good power delivery setting, for casual rider on electric its just not needed, while for pros might be a different story.

    • @grantbowen5047
      @grantbowen5047 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@electroendurodiary I think casual rider are the key words in that statement.

      This is the XT-680 with 72v 40ah battery and 20kw power in mode 3, however for off-road Mode2 is much more enjoyable to ride as full power was too "twitchy" or sensitive. Mode3 is great for drag racing your friends and blowing away just about any other bike.

  • @TheAlskouba
    @TheAlskouba 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I owned the xt800... The power was indeed impressive but the bike was so poorly made it was falling appart only after a couple of rides. I would not recommend this bike to anybody honestly. I sold the bike at a big lost and bought the EM escape R instead. The build quality is incomparable and even with the smaller battery I get similar range. keep in mind You do get what you pay for...

      Yeah, I think we need to loose that chain tensioner I don’t see the point of that gear on a motorcycle it’s going to break off eventually anyways. I’ve personally never seen one on a motorcycle, do trials bikes have those??

    • @electroendurodiary

      Getting used to it very quickly. On the upside, the bike runs very quietly compared to others, esp surron with chain conversion.

      Only time will tell, our brake troubles were resolved after this ride by simply adding some fluid and bleeding the brakes. To put it into perspective this is a $7899 bike and it's closest competitor is the Electric Motion which is $10,499. I think the biggest question we have is if the brakes and suspension hold up better than the Mountain Bike brakes and suspension we find on bikes like the Surron. If you are looking for a bike like this and want the highest quality on the market and have the budget, then we would suggest the Electric Motion Escape.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you misunderstand the capabilities of BT. BT is a very short range technology, you must be in very close proximity to the device. It is also secure and encrypted. What you just described is not possible. BT is used to connect a laptop or phone to your controller and apply tune settings to it. Without BT it's impossible to have a smartphone attached to your handlebars and see important information like motor temperature, RPM, etc and it allows you to change your tune easily which is very handy in varying terrain.

    • @topelite666
      @topelite666 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ChargedCycleWorks I understand its useful capabilities, but with extenders, your device can be reached from over 300m. Bluetooth is just a major security risk. Obviously, I'm being paranoid about the what ifs, but unless there's a way to remove the Bluetooth all together I would not buy it simply for that reason.
