Virtually no stills or animation is used. This concert is practically all video footage. Lots of great shots, concert runs excellent and we are confident you will enjoy this one. I find a warm "movie" picture setting for your TV is best for optimal viewing. Audio is A+ Soundboard from Chicago, October 13, 1978.

    You cannot get more "Super Group" than this. Genesis is the definition of Super Group. They were one of the first groups that composed and arranged songs greater than 10 minutes, which kept them in the realm of FM. They had a number of short/pop songs for AM play. But, their treasures were put into the frequency modulation side of broadcasting where clarity was optimized. Thank God for FM and Genesis.

    The guy who shot the Columbus Ohio 8mm stuff was a hero! Going backstage and all. It's amazing that the Columbus footage has almost every drum stroke the same as the Chicago music track from three days later.

      The guy I'm pretty sure was Peter Gabriel. He's the one who went backstage to film

    First concert I saw was Genesis in '78. They blew me away! Still one of my all time favorite bands. Saw them a few times after that. The last time being 2008, not quite the same but loved seeing the guys live again. Would go tomorrow if the showed up.

    Seen & heard them in 1978 in Paris. On drums, with Phil Collins, Chester Thomson, if I correctly remember. Thrilling & moving.

    What an amazing band. Tony Banks rules!

  • @Driver2616
    @Driver2616 5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    The uptempo sample from “Riding the Scree” that Banks inserted at 9.47 is perfectly in tune and tone with the mood, tempo and whole direction of this instrumental piece. I wonder if he had this filed away somewhere subconsciously for years, only for it to emerge later, on The Lamb?

    • @IanMcGrath70
      @IanMcGrath70 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      probably so. This is the first tour where they replace the minor section of Cinema Show (which gets really complicated rhythmically) with the "Riding the Scree" riff.

      I’m going to shell out 200 bucks to see them in Charlotte, mostly just to hear Tony play this keyboard solo! It won’t be as good as this but I don’t care
