Supposedly the prototype made by t.o.a heavy industries in sidonia knight series before they can create that gun is as big as moon- only after millenium later that the gun sucessfuly mass produced. One of them has already proven to be used by the MC from blame series to survive in gargantuan labyrinth for more than couple hundreds if not thoudands years and still didnt run out of energy, the mc like kinda had to spam pew pew pew everyday to survive against those weird shjt variety of aliens. I wouldn't say so. In fact, I feel like they're just a nuisance. Why must so many anime shows be absolutely stuffed with anime girls all the bloody time? Like, I don't mind it if it's a balanced rooster of characters and whatnot... But when nearly every single character here are girls... I feel like there's a bit of sexism involved in this. At least it's not as bad as high school fleet, which doesn't seem to have been made with any male protagonists or secondary characters in mind. It's all teenage girls... Which group of people are they trying to appeal to here? The warship fans? Or the literal perverts? Like... Japan, buddy. But then, human win against them with strategy. In order to learn about those strategy, the 'aliens' first need to learn how human works and then develop an AI with human figure. Second, why girls? Human referred to battleships as feminine figure. Try a quick search on wikipedia and you will see that they pronounce ships as she/her. Hence why they are all woman. In this case, the presence of shipgirls are necessary. If the story is about ww2 then it's unnecessary. Also, the amount of shipgirls aren't as many as Kancolle and Azur Lane.

Also technically the cannons in the hull are gravity thingamabobs, but mostly never enough lasers.
