He did not give her his kidney since they were not compatible. So, while she spent 2 years on dialysis, Kevin worked through a kidney exchange program to find the best suitable match, where he donated his kidney to X family, who in return donated to Y family and so on. About 10 families were involved, and Alyssa then received a kidney that her body was compatible with.
Her surgery took place months before his, which is why here she's healthy and he's weak. The fact that he went to such lengths to keep the love of his life healthy, shows how pure their love is❤️

She’s why being an organ donor is so important. Many wonderful people like her die everyday waiting for an organ to become available.
When I was little I had to watch my mom almost die due to a liver failure. She was given 90 days to live and received a transplant on day 102. Had she not held on that little bit longer I wouldn't have a mom, so yes organ donation is extremely important and if you have concerns look it up, it's not as "bad" as it may seem. You dont have to worry about things like open caskets ect. Please consider organ donation!

my dad passed away due to not getting a liver in time. by the time he found a liver he was too weak to operate on. i am forever grateful to people who donate, even if it was too late for him.

My mom had one and she didn’t like when it showed. She would always cover it with her clothes. Sadly she died last year. It’s almost been a year. It’s been 11 months and a week.
Natalie I’m so sorry to hear that. This hit home for me because my mother is currently experiencing kidney failure, they are at 8%. She is having surgery tomorrow to put the port (? not sure what’s it’s called) in her arm so that she can begin dialysis. We are both struggling with this change in our lives.

I appreciate this comment but to me, you don’t need to put other brides down just to compliment this one. This show obviously only shows the getting ready for the ceremony part, not the focusing on the marriage part. Her bridesmaids even said she had been dreaming of the “picking out the dress moment” with her friends and family. It’s ok to dream of this day that marks the beginning of a beautiful life with your partner and want it to be perfect.

This Fiancé is DEFINITELY a keeper. He gave her his kidney BEFORE they were married, then brought her Monty and Lori for the dresses, and finally her friends and mom. This is so heartwarming and just made my heart melt.

This woman is so pure. Just so absolutely pure. Some brides look at "their" perfect dress when it gets on, and say "I feel like a bride" or "this is perfect" or something else. Which is normal, and perfectly acceptable. She looked at herself in the mirror with her perfect dress and said, "I'm getting married!" which seems to me like more of a true love kind of thing to say. Her perfect dress, to her, means she is marrying her true love. While others feel like the princess they never felt like before (which, again, is completely normal).
I just think she is super sweet and I hope she's happy forever.

AnastasiA I mean you’re right but it also depends on the environment you’re in (school work etc) I don’t think your friend group and it’s diversity determine if you’re a good person or not because it’s likely that if you’re in a predominantly white setting you’ll have mainly white friends and so on . I don’t really have friends except for two, one is white and the other is Asian (I my self am European Spanish and Dominican) but my school is predominantly white and theres mainly just Asians and whites
Even if your friend group isn’t diverse it doesn’t mean you’re not a good person like someone else said it’s down to the environment
i watched my dad go through kidney failure and during this, we lost my mom to depression a year and a half ago. we’re nearing the one year mark of my dad receiving his new kidney from my mom’s life long best friend. this episode really touched my heart. sitting here with tears in my eyes even 5 minutes after the video ended. i wish this couple a lifetime of health, love and happiness

actually his wasn’t compatible so he donated to someone else, that family aslo donated, and so on w abt 10 families. she finally got a kidney months later which is even more adorable if you ask me

What an amazing husband he will be. The hard work he put in to getting the dress shop going to the hospital when he was going through the process of a new kidney and all he decided that he was going to surprise her and boy did he. That shows how much he truly loves her. I wish them well.

When I was 14 my dad died from heart failure. During the darkest time of my life the doctors came to my family and asked us if we would donate his organs. At first my mom was like, “how dare you come to us 30 minutes after I told them I would sign the papers to take him off life support, as ask us to wait another two days to donate his organs?” But then she paused and apologized remembering my dad’s friend who’s wife needed a heart and kidney transplant. She got hope that maybe we could donate his organs to her. She asked each of the four kids and his mom if we could donate his organs. We agreed. He saved four or five lives with his kidneys, liver, and i don’t remember the other organs. We then donated tissues, veins, muscles, and anything else to help people. Sadly he wasn’t compatible with his friend’s wife. But why we lost an amazing person, he saved other amazing people. He allowed a woman to meet her grandkids. He saved a mom and a father. A son. He improved others lives. This episode hit close to home. I saw this a while ago. But watching it again once I worked through the pain and I’ve grown up. This impacts me so much. I’m now 19 and I am hoping to get engaged soon with my partner of 3 almost 4 years. I don’t have. H dad here to walk me down the isle. He won’t see my kids or be here to hold me through my health decline. I have gastroparesis, cerebral play, sever allergic reactions, and more. Hold on to those you love. And stay strong. Everyone deserves this day. And please consider donating.
OMG! Not only are my eyes wet - but my whole face and the front of my shirt are sopping! They are so special!!! (For 40 years, I've been married to a man like Kevin. As I've gotten sicker and moved into chronic pain, I've grown to understand how incredibly lucky I am. These days, he's become the cook in our family - he does the shopping, much of the cleaning and all of the driving. I love him more each day and started out head over heels! I am normally not a sensitive person but omg I had tears in my eyes all the time. I am also chronically sick and I am so blessed to have my own "Kevin". He does everything in the household next to going to work and still supports me on top of that giving me the feeling I am not a complete waste but a wonderful person. I met him with 40 after having given up meeting someone nice. Well girls/guys, everything can happen and I am so happy to see that there are still Kevins out there. (Mine is Shaun 😍)

It's a "Say Yes To The Dress". Rule #1: Always have tissue or a hanky nearby. Rule #2: If it's Say Yes To The Dress Atlanta, make sure you either drink during the commercials or only have a small mouthful of liquid. Many a time when I watched SYTTDA I ended up choking on water, juice or tea because Lori and Monty would make me laugh.
Maybe give it a hankie count, one hankie, 2 hankie....10 hankie tear warning!
SYTTD Atlanta is at is best when Lori and Monty are on the road surprising amazing people who are having a horrible time and helping them having this moment of joy and happiness. That's way better than all the drama and horrible people. More beautiful moments like these please

I had watery eyes the whole way through... The world is so much richer for a person like her, and her boyfriend is a treasure, too. They truly deserve each other in the best way possible.
I could talk about how cute she is and how loving she is. But yoooo I thought they stapled her dress xD that explains my understanding of fashion. Btw I’m convinced that her entire torso is just one huge caring heart. She is so sweet. Honestly we need more brides like this!
