    They can boost the specs of the Pixel Fold 2 but if it doesn't keep the aspect ratio it's a no go. It's gotta be a compact device that turns into a table.

      I'm with you, if it isn't like the Fold 1 (current renders look like a OnePlus Open carbon copy...and I know it's just a render) then I will not be buying it...sad actually if they go to a OnePlus clone.

      Agreed. I like the aspect ratio and just can't purposely upgrade to another phone, when I don't need to. Considering I just received Android 14 and I don't have any issues with the phone, I plan to keep it until it either stops work or is no longer supported.

      I would have absolutely loved an upgraded Pixel Fold 2 sticking to what made this phone gorgeous and a real winner. It was the closest thing to the Duo's aspect ratio. Now I am facing to try to find a used Pixel Fold knowing there will not be another similar design.

    Just gonna throw this out there before watching:
    1. Same or better camera hardware as the candy bar "Pro" phone
    2. A Google Pixel Pen
    3. A Pixel version of Dex
    4. Tensor G4 (or G4+ ..?)

    I would like to see a non pro fold too. Ideally the "9 Fold" would have proportions and size similar to the original Pixel Fold and be no more than $1500, while the "9 Pro Fold" would be larger, with better cameras, storage and keep the $1800 price tag.

    Everything....and I mean everything was spot on Shane. Especially the aspect ratio is an absolute necessity. Carry on the good work brother.

    Currently own a pixel fold, tried out a OnePlus open and a z fold 5. The aspect ratio is what brought me back, everything else is better on the other folds😂. No upgrade if the aspect resto changes

    I wonder if the outer display will basically be the same size as the current pixel 8. I love the folds outer display but I could probably live with that if that's what it ends up being. But no skinnier than that! That's not pro mode! Great video as usual Shane! Couldn't agree more with all of your points. Would like the pro desktop mode as well!

    Excellent video. You touched on some great points. Pro models need to have the best internals available. The 7 year software support is bogus because most people don't keep their phones that long due to battery degrading.

    Man definitely needs the latest hardware to be called a pro IMHO. The inner bezels need to taken way down. Keep the aspect ratio which I know they are changing according to rumors. Pen support and the best software features. That will make me upgrade to it instead of fold 6 ultra(if it's even a real thing lol)

    We've been stagnant at 12gb ram and not enough performance optimisation with a lot of devices. The bottleneck is showing. 16gb RAM has to be the next step up

    Let's be honest, do any of the Pro models of the Pixel's deserve the name? All that is really different is the telephoto camera and a bigger screen, and as of recent, extra AI features which the non pro is capable of but doesn't have (yet). XL made more sense as a name, but they went with pro since its just a more popular word for something more premium.
    I do want some things for the Fold 2 though. Pen support, better app compatibility, and even multitasking like the OnePlus Open has. I'll even take a fully fledged desktop 'Dex' mode. Imagine if we could make a phones a Chromebook with just one cable! I'm hoping that the hideous camera bump on the Fold 2 is due to them having the same cameras as the Pixel 9 Pro. Then I'll give them a pass for removing the camera bar if it is for a good reason.

    Hey I heard stylus, that's one of the biggest things that made Pixel Fold a hard no for me.
    Stylus is the only reason I ever tried foldables, and it'd make Pixel 9 Fold Pro (or whatever they call it) infinitely more ideal for my uses if it had that compatibility.

    The only way I will consider the fold 2 at all is if the cameras are the same as the pixel 9 pro. Im so disappointed by the cameras in my pixel fold. It also needs to be top tier instead of mid and just a foldable.

    We never needed a bigger screen or even better processor. All they had to do was increase the memory and they would corner the market with a 1TB base unit phone...

  • @TonyBalboa

    I wish they would just do away with the Pro tag for phones. I prefer how Samsung calls their top-tier Ultra. Pro makes it seem like it has some amazing features that a variety of Professionals would need. I think the actual percentage of professionals needing to upgrade their devices to the Pro versions, for better camera, longer battery, better screen are a very small slice of the pie.
    Google should just call it the Pixel 9 Fold, and it will just be known that from here on out if you get a Fold it's the top of the line phone same as the Pro, but with the folding feature. Just my 2 cents.

  • @LouisShannon
    @LouisShannon หลายเดือนก่อน

    In my opinion, the only reason they are calling it a "pro" model is so they can make it more expensive than the normal pro. If it was just the Pixel 9 Fold, then it would look weird that it's more expensive than the Pixel 9 Pro. Its to show that it's the top tier phone and not floating somewhere between the 9 and 9 Pro.

    I personally think this is just googles way of trying to insure that their new fold would be of the same priority as the other pixels. It also lowers the release cost of the fold by indicating it is indeed part of the pixel family. 🤷

    I know most will be upset with what I have to say but all I want to see is Google keeping the outer display the same, I don't even care if it gets the G3 CPU or STARTS OFF with 12GB ram. As long as it keeps the same outer display Id be happy. As for the ram it would be cool to see them at least have it start off at 256GB/12GB with a lower asking price, maybe $1500.00 and go up to 512GB/16GB ($1700.00) and maybe even 1TB/16gb ($1900.00) that would be epic.

    I would argue the fold is a pro phone. Camera is awesome just check mbkhb blind camera test. Phone never slows down. Battery life is great for a foldable. Amazing form factor don't even notice it's a fold compared to the z fold 5 thickness. 120hz display on both screens. Oh yeah don't forget this phone has two screens. Everyone is so entitled in this day and age. It's pro phone no doubt.

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Normally I'd just "like" this comment and move on, but since you've ended a fairly reasonable comment by essentially calling me entitled, let's look at some facts about what is one of my favorite phones of all time.
      Camera: It's a good camera, but it is by no means up to the standard of a device of this price, nor a device carrying the Pro moniker. It uses hardware from a phone 1/3 its price. Other Pixel phones offer notably better performance for less money.
      Speed: I find it to be a very smooth phone, but again, the overall performance is not the same as devices that are cheaper. This is part of running a Tensor chip. It'll be very good at some things, but not the best at others like gaming.
      120hz display is standard, present on much cheaper phones.
      At the end of the day, the total package of the Pixel Fold is one that I subjectively adore. Objectively, it uses a smattering of components bested by midrange phones. This is just factual. If you're okay with calling that "Pro," be my guest. I think most people would agree that definition betrays the spirit of what's meant by a "Pro" phone. In the future, let's stick to discussing the arguments and not the arguer.

    If they change the aspect ratio to something like OnePlus or z fold, what is the point of getting this phone when the z fold literally offers almost everything and more. I think they're removing the thing that made this phone unique. I came to the pixel fold from the duo because of the aspect ratio. If they change the aspect ratio to something taller and narrower than I may as well get the fold six.😂😂
    But ultimately, I'll probably skip this generation of phones and go back to my Duo 2.

  • @Maxx134a
    @Maxx134a หลายเดือนก่อน

    I feel like the sole voice crying out in the wilderness, saying that the current pixel Fold width is normal minimum width of a standard phone, do not go thinner!... BauT we keep seeing f00/ishly thinner Folds!! OnePlus should be ashamed of themselves for "selling out" the tradition of Oppo, which had the original goal of having wider phone, just smaller version of the Pixel Fold. Now everyone follows thin so you can't use the front screen normally. Pixel Fold 2 better not be "effectively" thinner.
    Ill be fine and keep using this first Pixel Fold version. Google will learn the hard way, that they are nothing special if they follow Samsung. Just looking at OnePlus its embarrassing to see them in a middle ground having only a few millimeter more than Samsung and still useless front screen, in comparison to ANY normal phone. It's still NARROW.
    PIXEL FOLD PRO better pull something extra or it will see failing sales!

    i must be out of touch with the phone industry. The camera is such a non issue for me. I need a basic camera, so i can take a picture of something at the grocery store to ask if this is the product they want, and to take pictures of stuff I want to reference later, or show something to someone. Having a camera that is a thousand times better than what professional photographers used just a few years ago is a total waste of money. I need the phone to perform in other ways, camera is very minimal. communication, internet connectivity, and battery life are the big things, along with other secondary functionality, such as GPS and maps functions. I don't need a thousand dollar camera that can make a call and do texting and browsing. Where are the phones that do this? Likewise, the "smart" watches are the same, with all kinds of health tracking, and not good day to do usage.

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The products you're describing exist, they're just not referred to as pro devices. When we talk about calling something a pro phone, the expectation is that along with that super premium price, you're going to get the best of the best in pretty much every facet.
