Interesting. I went to the website and followed along as you clicked. Looks like I could do - important as I'm not tech savvy. But, I'm not sure I need this, as I've got the no access/no network permissions very well turned off, on this Motorola phone. I only use the phone *as* a phone, I sometimes check email, & have signal, & zello turned on, basically never use wifi, ie duckduckgo and my gps is not enabled. Do I need this? Your thoughts appreciated.
That's a great question! While you can't do this on a non-Google manufactured phone, there might be alternatives for Motorola models like LineageOS or CalyxOS and the like. Do you need it? I suppose it comes down to whether you care about the tracking that happens by default. Personally, I do, but others may not! The network permission controls may or may not actually perform as they should, that one's hard to say, but the Google software usually overrides any network access control permission sets and cannot be turned off. Not to make it too complicated but to answer if it's needed... It depends on whether or not you care about Google's access to your location, app usage/interactions, etc. I wish it were a little simpler!
While CarPlay is now available, which is awesome, I am not able to create a "work profile" so Teams and Outlook won't work because of my company InTune policy. However, that's the only thing that I ever have issues with. Much more control, all of the apps that I need and want to use, no issues at all otherwise!
I've not heard of that. They do have co-processors such as the TrustZone that has a separate OS, but nothing that I've heard of that collects specific data and sends your private information out.
FACT: If you don't want the police to access your phone via your finger print, don't use it. Legally, it's the same as them forcing your fingers to do a fingerprint, ergo think hard and fast about this suggestion.

Nope! I had a warranty issue and it doesn't change anything for hardware at all, so they don't care. Updates are consistent and probably biweekly and 8a should be just fine with Graphene!
Well explained. Me, am not actually worried about whatever tracking happens on my iPhone since there is nothing at all incriminating in what I do and since there are a few conveniences if 'they' know my preferences and interests. 'They' is just some algorithm, there is no human who cares a whit about wasting time tracking me :)
This is needs to be said more among privacy fear mongerers. Nobody cares about the vast majority of us. (Not accusing the person in the video of fear mongering - he does it out of personal preference)
Until what you do is arbitrarily declared illegal.
Do you not close the door when you go to the bathroom? You should care about who gets to see what you see.
@@MaakBow I honestly don't care if I get pigeon-holed by some-whatever algorithm, it's all about just trying to sell crap. There is no 'They' there, who gives a sh*t. :) Am a decades long software guy and do understand. Some folks may think they are so important that a 'they' cares a dang what they do. I am not one of them :D
@@dogzillamonsterpolice pull Google data tens of thousands of times per year on random citizens and majority of it isn't what they are looking for, yet they still access your data history. I also don't like the idea of a profile being built on me for years, and with the digital world rapidly evolving, we don't know where this is headed exactly. I have nothing to hide but what happens when this data is leaked? Sure, "they" are just trying to advertise to us, but what happens when they accidentally leak our data to the wrong "they'
QUESTION: Will Graphene OS be able to disable AI functions on the Pixel 8 Pro? I don't want AI to work at all since it is extremely dangerous.
Yes. No AI that you don't add yourself. I'm in the same boat as you in terms of distrust of any of this "intelligence"
How's games going on grapheneos? 😅
Does google map while using GraphenOS able to track you and get your info to sell your info, i.e. insurance company's?
You can have a side profile that loads google services for maps when needed and then switch/shutdown profiles so it stops telemetry data.
Can you still you the eSim function. Planning on getting one from silentlink for data
What I would miss is NFC payments. Or at least Google Pay.
I just tried the Magic Eraser feature on latest GrapheneOS with Google Photos no network. But I got a message: Can't install more editing tools. An internet connection is required to install more editing tools. When I allow internet connection it works, but that's no the point right.
For built in screen recording does capturing audio with video calls? Such as Instagram or Facebook?
Yep, works perfectly.
Any chance you can provide a demo of this working? I am having zero success with stock android. Thank you!@@CozyLivingMachine
Great demo
Hello their after Installating grapheno is it reversible? Have an older model and want to sell it as it was before. Thank s.
Good morning
Is there an app that resets the phone if there are several false unlock codes?
Are there any downsides?
While CarPlay is now available, which is awesome, I am not able to create a "work profile" so Teams and Outlook won't work because of my company InTune policy. However, that's the only thing that I ever have issues with. Much more control, all of the apps that I need and want to use, no issues at all otherwise!
@@CozyLivingMachine thank you very much for your reply, sir! Great video
So I can basically use this OS on my pixel 5?
yeah pixel 5 has its support extended by grapheneOS. Install it.
Do you know how the extension is?@@xE92vD
is there an option to keep your camera and mic off and have it ask you every time before you use it?
There sure is! It stays off and will prompt you if it wants anything.
Can you select apps that are phone specific to inject into the rom like Motorola has a desktop app called Ready for that I wouldnt want to loose
If im correct doesn't the pixel hardware specifically the new processor collect data now with the new pixel?
I've not heard of that. They do have co-processors such as the TrustZone that has a separate OS, but nothing that I've heard of that collects specific data and sends your private information out.
If I am still paying off the loan for my 8 pro, will the mobile operator not cause me problems? Because it is somehow tracked, as it were.)
Strange, I can set up an android device with no internet, also on android, you can restrict permissions one by one for google services
FACT: If you don't want the police to access your phone via your finger print, don't use it. Legally, it's the same as them forcing your fingers to do a fingerprint, ergo think hard and fast about this suggestion.
Yep! Biometric data isn't covered under the 4th amendment in the same way our knowledge and right to not self incriminate with our own speech is!
So face unlock works just the same on this?
Does anyone know?
Did they give you a strike for this too?
No strikes here!
I haven't rooted a phone in so long because I've pretty much been able to customize my galaxy devices but i just switched 5o the pixel and i hate the font & emojis lol
Hello. I installed Evolution X. And I have a question, how do I return to the factory firmware? Is this even possible? Or is there a custom recovery? Tell me please(i have google pixel 8a)

I'd like to see if you could get Android Auto to work.
Unfortunately, that isn't an option yet! But hopefully there will be a work around soon!
If there is a new Release in the Stable Chanel for GrapheneOS is an update like a new installation? Do I loose all settings apps etc on the phone?
It's just like a normal upgrade, no loss of settings and files unless something went very wrong!
@@CozyLivingMachine well that sounds awesome. So there is in the Android the Menü to check for updates and can be used to install the current release?
thanks
I purchased my Pixel 8 directly from T-mobile and the OEM Unlocking option is greyed out. Is there a work around for this?
Unfortunately not, it sounds like it's factory locked currently! You may be able to get T-Mobile to unlock it, or return it and buy from Best Buy or the like.
@@CozyLivingMachine That's the conclusion I came too as well. Going to try some social engineering with them and see what I can accomplish, thanks for the prompt reply!
@@trapart716The world we live in, that we have to "social engineer" anything to the company we bought OUR product from.

Did you try backup on your old phone and restore on the new one? How did it work out?
I did not, so I can't say. I imagine it's a decent experience still, but I don't keep much of anything other than specific, useful apps and a handful of pictures, so I just saved the photos manually before trading in!
Can you make sure it's really private and safe? I know it's open source but has anyone actually analyzed the code and checked if it's safe and no spyware
Yes, it's extremely peer reviewed

I dont think Apple is worser than Android (Google) but really concerning how many Information they get.
Only thing I don't like about the Google pixel is that they don't have audio jacks. I thought Apple was the only one who did that with their phones.
Every manufacturer is doing that with most, if not all of their phones. Pros and cons, for sure!
@@CozyLivingMachine I still got it! And I followed your video and read the article. It was a bit scary but reassuring knowing exactly how the process would look like.
