I would have watched this video anyway, but the NO ZIPPERS really got me
I have a personal vendetta against zippers lol!
the chaos of you rambling through different plans for a project gave 'middle of the night crafting' energy and i truly love it 😌
it's only 10% better when I'm not under the weather, so I'm glad you enjoyed it lol!! 😂
Oh my gosh, I wasn't expecting the fall recipe/cooking bits thrown in there! I'm new, so I don't know if that's a staple on your channel or something new, but either way I love it!
thank you! Yes, the cooking is a staple! So glad you like them!!
I love the creative reality. Normal ppl cant sew for 7 days straight and live
this comment is so validating
It's always exciting to find more plus sized youtubers who are also talented sewists! And I looove the cooking interludes, makes it so cozy feeling. A++ fall vibes
I've never really like drop waist dresses but yours looks so good that I'm reconsidering!
i was scared to try the drop waist dress, but i LOVE it so yes definitely give it a try!
So the slight difference in the 1/4th bias tape allows for stitch in the ditch, the shorter one is attached first so that the longer one can be caught easily with the stitch in the ditch.
Love to see someone with my body shape/size sewing garments and the cooking breaks tickled me!
omg finally a plus size sewist who looks like me, omg thank you algoritm 😭😭😭❤❤❤
Was watching a sewing video when my mind started wandering... and suddenly I was watching a baking video?! 😆😁 Not that I mind though 😁
Enjoyed this so.
I came here for the projects but stayed for the music, cooking and overall relaxing vibe. You look amazing in those new clothes!!! I feel really inspired to sew a similar dress out of mustard floral fabric from my stash
You're inspiring me to get back in there and sew more fall looks. I want so many long plaid skirts I can wear wooly tights under. Oh and narrow bias tape can be tamed by fusible web tape like Steam a Seam. It comes on a very narrow roll. I sew down one side of the bias tape, then I insert the fusible web, fold the bias tape down, iron it down, and then sew it down on the top side so it looks pretty. The web holds everything down while your sewing machine sews it evenly. You won't even need pins.
Also I love your fabric choices and the cooking. Delightful !
OMG that first dress fits fantastic. This is the first time the algorithm has thrown you my way. I’m very impressed. I am shaped similarly to you, and I never would’ve thought of a tighter upper skirt. Maybe I’ll just look into it. I am totally not into renfair, but you wouldn’t be the first sort of historical person that I watched just for the fun of sewing. You seem also very practical and say what you mean, which is something I always like. I think I will just hit subscribe on you and see what else you come up with.
I'm not really a cooking type of person, but watching you cook such delicious and homely looking dishes with that music calmed me so much and inspired me to try cooking more dishes like those. Wonderful video and lovely sewing ❤
Enjoyed watching your process & the cooking also! And the birds!!❤😊Such lovely makes!!😊
The top waist is INCREDIBLE on you!! Truly beautiful. Also, I felt your shrieks of despair over that teeny bias tape in my SOUL 😂
We had a cold spell here in Idaho so even though it will be mid 90s this weekend, Im fully committed to it being spicy spooky crunchy leaf season. Temperature be damned!
YES, we had that roller coaster weather over here too, so that pushed me even further into "aug-tober" lol!
with big paper patterns like that, if you have the hanging space available you can clip them to skirt hangers and hang them up so they stay flat.
If you stitch the bias on the wrong side then wrap to the right side and top stitch it will always be secured (no missed bits) and the stitching neat on the right side.
I love the gathering hack, I always do it with yarn because it's big and easy to see and use. I completely share your hate for basting gathering stitches and zippers, and I always watch your videos for sewing inspiration :)
This was the best cozy fall video!! I want to come hang out with you. And biscuits are one of my all time favorite foods.
I'd argue that the best biscuits are buttermilk and baking powder, but I'm old-school like that lol and I'll take my tea unsullied by anything but a large scoop of honey lol bonus points if you have dried black currants to put in it lol
And I love both outfits, especially the corset/stays/bodice thingy you made. It makes a VERY snazzy outfit paired with those brown pants, and the green cording makes a nice contrast on it as well.
I forgot to mention that I really like your music. I sit and do hand projects while I watch TH-cam, and I just really enjoyed listening to your music.
Just found your channel and I’m in love! Birds, baking biscuits, sewing… what else could we ask for? Subscribed ❤
Everything turned out so cute! That birdhouse is so beautiful and chai looked delicious
Also love your look and style…and the Easy Bake Coven tee shirt is too cute!😘
I’m so glad your video appeared on my recommended love how cozy it feels!
I love to torture myself with making things from scratch the first time...that tiny bias you bought; I made some for my first time using it (I wanted to learn how and had the perfect color for my husbands' japron) and when it came time to sew it on I regretted how thin it was. I had such a hard time with sewing it on my machine that I turned to hand sewing it (my level of hand sewing was a blanket stitch for patches and maybe a whip stitch here or there)....I love the result but fully appreciate the time it takes to add such a thin bias hem and the multitude of skills it takes to do it all start to finish. Yours looked very neat and tidy and well worth the effort!
The drop waist dress is so flattering on you!
i usually don't comment on videos but I just wanted to tell you that i loved watching this, it is SO cozy!! also you look like Regina Spektor!!
I am so happy I found your channel! You are such a vibe. And so excited to watch part 2.
loooooovvvvveeeee this video! the two pieces and the recipes!!! so perfect to crochet to!
Delightfully wholesome and cozy. Subscribed.
This was such a cool video to watch and I love your voice! Thank you for sharing your journey
Those are gorgeous outfits!! The dress is perfection, but my jaw dropped for the renaissance/pin-up ensemble! Perfectly fall, a fabulous silhouette, you look stunning 💕 Definitely subscribing to await part 2.
Love the drop waist dress - so pretty!
Loved this!!
I made a drop waist dress for the summer. It was kind of unplanned. I had made a top and I had earlier tried to make a circle skirt with the same fabric. I sewed the circle to the top and voila - a dress (with no zippers) - it slides over the head and shoulders. Now I think I need one for fall.
I also like the way you trimmed the boning ends without adding the little caps. I’m going to try that too.💕
Your sewing videos are so aesthetic and relaxing to watch ❤ I love the home cooking interludes too!
omg that's the vibe I'm always hoping for! & I love adding the cooking so much, I'm glad others enjoy it too!
The drop waist dress is so cute on you!
Loved the video!! The cooking parts were very relaxing and I learned how to use bias tape.:)
I love watching your vids, and these outfits are as nice as the recipes.
There has just been one thing that has been finagling at my mind since the first time I started watching you. And now I know what it is, you have a very similar voice as Diana from the Dollfairy, because of this whenever I am not actively watching you when you are talking my mind goes to doll customizing. :}
The little cooking breaks are always so cozy!!
Oh dear now I’ve seen the second thing you made. You are so creative. Who would’ve thought of that very old style of top with pants. And it looks great. Oh yeah, I’m watching you.
I love this video!!! The music and projects little various intermissions between are really fun, and the vibes are immaculate.
I wish we had a chill in the air, tomorrow is going to be 105 degrees
I'm new to your channel, I love your content. The dress and stomacher look great.❤
The first dress is adorable but could use a petticoat under it so it keeps its shape a lil better xxx
These both look absolutely stunning! ❤❤
❤ your garments came out beautiful! And I really enjoyed watching you make homemade chi tea ❤
thank you so much! Couldn't wait for chai season lol
You have the energy of someone raised by two loving and supportive parents 🥲 I don't have another way to describe it
OH MY GOODNESS That dropped waist dress is SO pretty! 😍
This was such a cosy video to have in the background while I did my own sewing ❤
I absolutely love how the sleeved bodice turned out!! That fabric was perfect for the project 😍 can't wait to see part two! And now I want chai 😂
First time watcher here - the algorithm has blessed me! This video was so cute - feeling the autumn vibes already, I love that drop waist dress! Might have to make one myself
omg welcome! There's PLENTY of fall videos coming up so I'm glad you're here!
Love yo wath a sewing video with reprieve in the middle to make chicken pot pie!
I just found your channel. I always want to record my sewing but I do it mostly on my dining room so I haven’t but I love that you are in your spaces and recording. I also love what you made! Subscribed!
Love your channel. Love your designing style. The cooking is nice as well.
ok the dropped waist dress came out absolutely gorgeous and you look stunning
What a score on those fabrics - gorgeous! 😍
The frustration you have with bias tape is understandable, if you stitched it all in one go. That's not how it's used. You have to unfold it and aline the 'shorter' edge of the tape with the edge of the garnment, right sides together. You then stitch right at the fold closest to the edge, or a bit closer to the edge even. Then you fold it over at the pre-fold lines, ideally ironing it if necessary. Then, with a thread matching the fabric of the garnment, you stitch from the inside (the edge of the tape on the inside of the garnment folded it already), as close as possible to the the folded tape edge. Like that, the sewing from the inside will not shot on the tape on the right side of the fabric, but on the garnment fabric only, hence the matching thread. The whole principle is for V-shaped and rounded edges, cause you can slightly stretch the tape at the necessary parts.
If you use it the way you did, just putting it on the edge like a cap, also make sure the wider side is on the inside and then stitch on the right side (with the thinner side of the tape), as close as possible to the folded border to the garnment fabric, but with a thread matching the tape this time. That's similar looking to stitch in the ditch, but on the tape.
Wow I love this!! Thanks for your video!! :)
so exited for the next one! the two projects in this vide turned out so cute!
Both pieces look great, and are very flattering on you! Also, now I'm craving biscuits 😂
I'm really excited to see the Foxglove dress. I've been looking for a pattern like that for a concert coming up but it's hard to find some in my size
Love the dress you made, very pretty. ❤
ooh! the algorithm gave me this vid. You've got a new sub :). I love your pieces and they look amazing on you!
This was perfect for the vibes!! You got me extra excited to experience my first New England Fall!!!
omg a New England fall sounds MAGICAL!!
I just love your videos. 💛
This is so lovely there are tears in my eyes
omg that is so kind, thank you!!!
Do you have a link to the pot pie and biscuits recipes? I love this part as well as your sewing. 🤓 Thank you for all you share. 😊💝
I’m laughing to myself realizing I do the same thing. Watch and listen to shows and you tube while I sew. As I’m currently doing right now.
With the bias I stitch it on the back first fold it to the front then top stitch its a lot easier
Or
Stitch it to the front fold it over and hand stitch it to back if u dnt like hand stitching
Wow i just stumbled across this and it's so cute!! I think a thicker cord or ribbon on the corset would look so nice too
They all turned out beautiful!❤️ I’m excited to see your take on the foxglove slip too. I made that pattern last month and it’s so stunning!!☺️ funny is the before making it I kept searching on TH-cam in hopes someone else had made it so I could watch. 💀 I’m going to be remaking it again. I added lace for the flounces the first go around.
thank you! Yes i am SO excited to show you all the final result (not to spoil anything but i love this pattern too!) The lace addition sounds SO pretty!
@@maybebre your take turned out beautifully! I just watched part two!❤️☺️
Also u should join Sewernas shirt dress September
I died over that rosemary in the biscuits! OMGOSH! ~ Did you put pockets in the dress?
The foxglove has been in my queue for a while, I'm interested to see/hear your thoughts!
Yess to the drop waist dress, I'm always hesitant to try one cause.....the 80's......buttttt people are making them look better nowadays sooooooo I think I might have to try it😭
completely agree, I didn't think i liked the drop waist until i saw people wearing them recently lol! Definitely give it a try!
I dont see the link about gathering. I am interested in learning how you do it. Thanks.
I LOVE the dress!!! 34:09
Oh my gosh and the bodice with the detachable sleeves is amazing!
I had to pause the video to ask some questions:
Where did you get all the adorable shirts you’re wearing in this video?
Where did you get that amazing black belt with the silver buckle and tip?
Also, you’re are just great, totally love your vibe.
omg thank you! The shirts are from an etsy store called "tee goddess", i just linked it in the description if you want to check it out! & the belt I literally bought a decade ago from Nordstrom Rack lol, it's my favorite belt too!
That “Easy Bake Coven” is a Steven Rhodes design that was licensed to Spirit Halloween. That Etsy shop definitely ripped it off and is selling it for more than the original just a heads up. He’s got really recognizable art and the seller does not attribute it to him.
There’s other shirts in that shop that I recognize as lifted from Walmart and Maurice’s which like, if you want to support a small business over a big chain store I get that, it’s really all coming from the same places at the end of the day in that regard. I’m sure the shop just got a bunch of designs files from someone else who actually lifted them, it’s a huge problem, but art being taken from an independent designer without their permission and profited off of is icky to me so I thought I’d give a heads up on that design in particular.
Eeeek, also I want to add I don’t want to make anyone feel bad for buying or wearing the shirts!!! We can’t know what we don’t know and like I said, it still seems to be someone’s small business and they might not even realize due to how these files get passed around. I just think his art is cool and deserves to be acknowledged as coming from him and if you like it to check out his other stuff!!
I love you going 'we're not hand-stitching anything' when all I do is hand stitch.... (I don't own a working sewing machine and frankly they scare me)
Hey im early today! Wow
What kind of interfacing is that? I’ve never seen interfacing on a roll!
Where do you find that thick roll of lightweight interfacing?
From a fellow tea lover may I have your recipe for the chia ?
yes definitely, just added it to the description!
What's the pattern used for the drop waist dress?
My sewing room is upstairs and doesn't have a/c so it gets up to 90 f. I am limiting myself to hand sewing and crocheting that I can do downstairs. I have plenty of that to do.
lol totally get that! Cannot wait for cooler weather!
