I started on box goggles, my buddy still uses his, and he started about the same time. Mine were some Eachine, he uses Headplay. Nothing wrong with analog and whatever you like and can afford. I'd rather see more people in with cheap goggles, than less people with better ones.You don't need the best and brightest to have fun. Thanks as always for your video. Started with the EMAX box goggles that came with my TinyHawk 2. Then won your giveaway of the XFLIP goggles! Have both of those (and still use them) but slowly moving my 5" and Cinewhoops to my DJI goggles. I now use the EMAX box goggles as my ride along set.

My first FPV goggles were my Fat Shark HD2's which I'm still using 4.5 years on. But about decade before that I started getting into FPV on RC cars with 1.2ghz video transmission systems, that was back before Fat Shark even existed so I bought 2nd hand video glasses off eBay for the viewing part and eventually ended up with 10 sets, ranging from cheap crud up to a set of Sony Glasstron PLM-S700E that have 832x624 resolution displays with analogue & VGA input, their original MSRP was 298,000 YEN back in 1998 which was about $2,600 USD! The Olympus & Sony video glasses have optics that stomp all over the other video glasses and our video goggles today, because they use freeform prism lenses, a folded light path design within a solid triangular block of (I'm guessing) acrylic, the illusion it gives of looking at a large screen a few feet in front of you is much better than with the traditional optics in our goggles today. I tried to link to a picture of the 8 video glasses I still have with my HD2's in the center in a reply to this, but TH-cam just flat out deleted it :(
I had these and they're alright. Annoying losing video when flying micros behind myself. Not having channel memory is a drag when you have to scroll down to raceband. I ended up selling them and got Eachine EV800DM's instead for $85. Was worth it for diversity, dvr, channel/band memory, and works with glasses. They're 4:3 only but honestly it seems better. I'd get the DM's first if I could go back in time.
Looks like viable ride-along or rank beginner goggles. The image is kind of mediocre but flyable, but what do you expect for dirt cheap. I started flying FPV with Eachine Goggles Two. $160 or so and a pretty good screen, but no match for the Orqa FPV.One that I moved to.
can this be used for rc glider please outside how do you link it to the camra please see that the picture its braking up bad outside considering its near to you is that normal even a low price point inside it seams fine
The vtx transmits on an analog frequency, in the 5.8ghz band, we match the same frequency on the goggles, no binding or linking needed. This will work for a glider, but the antenna mounted in the front of the goggle will need to be pointed at the glider to get much range and image quality.
I have been only flying for a year and I still use box goggles that I modified to take a foxeer wildfire. (but i am saving up for maybe a Fatshark or a DJI v2)
great video! my first "flyable" goggles were the goolrc vr hd01...looks like possibly the same case as these that you reviewed... ive had them since summer of17 and still to this day fly with them occasionally for old times sake hahaha!
So, in other words, you have to be pretty close to your house or nearby for these things to work well? So they don’t show video if you fly the drone too far away?
Range on all goggles vary on environment....objects can block or degrade the signal, humidty also effects the signal. Do we have to be close, like my backyard or house, not really but it depends on environment.
@@av92 If there isn't any RF interference or anything between the quad and the googles and the front antenna in the goggles are pointed in the direction of the quad yes it will have signal.

I still fly box goggles, ev800d. I've been thinking of getting the cobra x but I could as well just modify the ev800d to accept signal from the rapidfire module :b . . I still have only one working eye, so I don't really get anything from the normal goggles except the form factor.
@@ValFPV It should unless you have old goggles with IPD adjustment system that doesn't agree with your eyes. I just want a little less FOV than the ev800d have and I'm happy, I can't quite make the whole image without moving my eyes and it can be annoying while doing proximity.

Not my cup of Tea but I have to say the image/colours looked better than the orca's(which looked washed out a tad)also for built in patch antennas the signal around the house which is full of multipathing did a great job for a $50 box goggle.
connect? The goggles to the vtx? Connect the quad to betaflight look at the vtx tables for the frequency match that on the goggles. Or use the autoscan on the goggles to find the most clear image.

whoa that was way back in the day, great memory. Yes I do believe it will work. The internal radios are often very very similar. we mainly want to use a multimeter to find the voltage and ground pads. We can use the multimeter to located the video pad as well, but I don't recall the measurement we had to use.

@@Laserzap the goggles have been great! The built in patch is really good and much better range than you'd expect..light on the head as well. Only thing I wish they had was a dvr. Betafpv have come out with a new version tho, the VR03. They are the same but they changed the antenna setup and added a dvr. I recommend you get that

@@NickBurnsFPV granted it's your home which i'm sure you know well but towards the end you were covering more ground and direction changes faster then i could process them, this just reminded me, there used to somebody else that could fly like that, he used to go to construction sites where they were building steel framed buildings and while it was still just frame he used to go fly up, over, around, through all the frame rails like it was a jungle jim kinda like you going through the treadmill, up and down stairs and rails through the furniture legs, crazy as this sounds, your flight's been buzzing around in my head like a song that won't go away, i've watch you go through that tread mill so many times that i even probably lost weight from the exercise, well maybe not ...lol
I started with recon v3 , now i fly with corbra x . i wear glasses and the skyzone corbra x are good quality and are great if u wear glasses, and will work with shark byte .
Great review and general fpv information per usual, awesome wifi channel information, took me a long time to sort out wife's home office wifi and me flying around the home. although I forced the channel on wifi and flew already flew R6.. switching to R8 now.. because... I just didn't think about it.. more separation = more better... with 3 kids inexpensive durable ride along goggles are exactly a thing I can use. I have a few screens I hand them now.. not the same... So i started with the e800d.. The DVR is pretty important if you ever want to find a quad... then bought antennas.. then bought Good antennas.. then I went DJI V2 then added Diji adaptor + fusion + good antennas + now I like analog hahah think I want to split the analog from the digital... for simplicity sake... hey you're looking trim too, loose a few or hair cut or...
yes, sir. I suspect so many of us have followed a similar path. I have been eating cleaner and paying more attention to what I do eat. Exercising is a bit of an issue, left shoulder and knee give me fits. :(

Hi Nick Great video and review of the BetaFPV VR-02. I just don't know. I did start with a cheap set. But I started flying with the Eachine EV-100 and then the EV-800D. I really liked them, I could see everything, I could use them as a monitor for my bench or sit them on a tripod for people to watch. Thanks again for the information and video.

Newbie flying with goggles. Started with the Skyzone Cobra X and a month later bought the SkyZone 04X. Used a 7" LED monitor for years.

I think so. But look through the comments. There are a number of people that have used the ev800 goggles and moved up to something else.

I started on the ev800D. I'm still using it as a bench screen to this day 2 years on.
I have that as well and use it in the same way. I do use it to share fpv when others are over at the house
First set was a used pair of Fatshark Dominators back in 2012 I think..

I do have from tinygo kit. It's more like the vr01 of betafpv. My question is, can I use a combo polar and patch antenna? Will it work? Thank you.
Does the goggle have two sma connections? And two receivers? If so then yes we can use two antenna.

I think the Pic with one eye in binocular goggles would be identical to the Pic with 2 eyes because the 2 screens display exactly the same image

This video is showing the Orqa's DVR, not the screen. Yes, that DVR footage does look a bit washed out, but the screens look great.

Betafpv have come out with a new version tho, the VR03. They are the same but they changed the antenna setup and added a dvr. I recommend you get that

real time. If there is any doubt :) I have a host of videos on whoop type quads. Also the timer in the lower right for real time comparison.

I just ordered a bunch of different foams to make my own faceplate, I even got some memory foam!
That is a good idea, make it work for us.
Once I figure out how to cut this stuff and stick it together!

Wow, mine are contantly flickering. I have no where near that good of reception. Even outside with 10 feet between the goggle
make sure your on the exact same channel as the quad. Try using raceband 8
